Probably the coolest project I've built so far. It has already proven to be useful in- and outside the shop. Also the first time I could use the metal lathe.
By the way, this was no cheap project. All materials together cost about 200€, but still totally worth the investment!

I can only recommend building one. For me/ us it already came in handy inside and outside the shop. Without filming you could do it in 3-5 days

I appreciate accurate precise work. You had to take your time and for that to be young is an asset. Setting up the camera and editing must have taken half of the time you put in. I am in steel work, still value yours, keep it up.

I think you can be the next gen Mathias-Heisz woodworker. Thats why we can all tolerate a decrease of videos frequency, untill you get a bigger shop. But than again, by than, you might be a whole other person, not worse but more mature. We aplaude you Marius.

Beautiful piece! And very impressive strength.
One suggestion: When you made the template for the scissor arms, since you needed the ends equal distance from the center, you could have made a one-ended template instead of a two-ended template. Clamp, drill center and one end, then put a bushing in the center and rotate it to drill the opposite end.

Started watching this video, and thought "yet another kid showing off his father's workshop, and assembling pre-machined parts". Well, after one minute in-video, I was pleasantly surprised with the level of your skill, knowledge, and resolving in-build quirks. Knowledge you have, needed to work with those machines, puts you in grade of expert craftsman. Little things are that count, and with you it is your attention to details. This was not long video, I enjoyed watching it. My hat's off to you, sir.

I started getting a scam ad on my Facebook feed that made me search out the construction if a lift table. Believe it or not there is a company using this very video to sell lift tables. I’m glad I saw this video before I tried to buy the product.

So a year later... how is the table handling the stresses of day-to-day workshop life? Did you ever build the next one? Personally I'd love to see you do a follow-up visit to some older projects, see how well they've worked, and what you'd do differently if you started over.

Firstly Welcome Back. Secondly is WOW what a fantastic build that was, it was a mixture of Engineering and Woodwork and i have to say this build must be up there with one of the best that you have done. It was so intricate with all the pieces that had to be precise and no mistakes, even though you did a couple you managed to sort it out.
I don't know how or where you get these ideas from for all your builds (probably out of your head ha ha ha) , but you are one talented individual. Well Done and keep up the great work that you are doing.

Young Man, for somebody being as young as you are, and yet, having the skills that you have, I commend you for the experience that you already have at such a young age! God definitely blessed you with a great brain, and the body and skills to go with it! If you find a young lady, and get married, she'll definitely have a very special and smart husband to be with! Your skills are, generally speaking, far above the skill levels of some of the young people in my Nation (I live in the United States), and I again applaud your skills and workmanship! Keep on this path in life-it's encouraging to see a good population of our youth worldwide learn the skills that they need to do the many things that can be done, and also come up with new ideas!

Very nicely done! I was most impressed when you hopped up on there - but the utility is just great. I love and need the most flexible but functional (hence space, money, and life-saving) tools possible.

This was an awesome project! I would love to have a lift like that for working on yard equipment, and small engines. As far as the metal lathe, what reasonable person would expect you to use it in the manner of a professional machinist? As far as the length of the video? When the more interesting the content, the less one notices the passage of time.
One thing though, keep your fingers out of the crush zone of that lift, at all times, regardless of how much you trust the device. We don't need you changing your channel name to Marius Halfhand Hornberger.
I have to build two lifts for my tool bench. The planer and jointer disappear into the table. This has been an awesome tutorial. Thank you, it answered all my questions.

Marius, this lift opens up new possibilities for shops with limited space. My shop is 19'x20' (5.9x6 meters) interior dimensions but I have a lot of tools and machines. I had been thinking of building a table with a rotating top for the sander, grinder and drill press. A flip table would accommodate the planer and miter saw. With the lift table it would be easy to store all of the tools in vertical shelves and set the needed tools out as required. The primary function of my shop is to build radio controlled aircraft so large woodworking is a secondary function once the cabinets and workbenches have been built.
I wish I had all of his tools to work with, be nice when you can’t get quite the right size of metal you need to just run over to the metal lathe and make it whatever size you want! Those are not cheap machines either! Regardless he’s a smart young man with a great skill set! Wish him the best in all his future projects

I am totally blown away. This is an awesome video. This is exactly what I want to build. I want to store my planer under my work bench when not in use and be able to raise it up to a comfortable height when using. I would love to have plans!

Marius, I don't know where you got to in responding to people below, including the requests for plans... Given the incredible popularity of this video (4 million, and counting at this point), you could easily seize this as a business opportunity. More than just the plans -- although that's a great start -- but also selling a hardware kit where you provide the complete specialized set of parts all cut to final lengths and machined to a ready state. As you mentioned in the video, even you had challenges sourcing all of the necessary parts, so you can imagine that for those of us who mostly identify as woodworkers, it will be a lot more challenging and time consuming. If you do this, be sure to edit your text above to inform viewers of this, and also do a short followup video where you talk about your parts package and plans, and show how it all works. Your cleverness deserves to be rewarded with more than just thumbs up and views. Cheers.

I'd have done it differently. I'd have cut each piece of wood just off square and drilled the holes with a greater degree of error, thus ensuring nothing lined up. Then I'd have frigged about for hours trying to get the unit together, only to have it fall to bits when I tried to use it to lift my 100kg table off the groud. I'd then drive down to the nearest store, buy one, scratched the labels off it and told my mates I made it.

An addition I feel would be useful is to add a sheet over the area where the lower bearings run. That would reduce the amount of dust that collects there that could stop the height adjustment. Don't want to put something heavy on it and find it won't lower far enough because some wood chips got in the way.
Bunny Warren - I was thinking about the exposed bearings as well. Although they may cost a little more, I would have used sealed bearings. This was a well done video and an excellent project!

Some of these comments are really annoying. Picking on stupid little things in the video like video production is his full time job. Lighten up people and enjoy the skilled workmanship, after all that is the point of the video not how to make the perfect video. There are videos out there a thousand times worse with music so loud it drowns out the speaking, or presented in such monotone ways it puts you to sleep. The videos are very easy to watch to the end so build a bridge and get over your petty intolerances.
I held off for a day when this video came out cause I knew I wanted the time and headspace to watch this with the attention it deserved. I was not disappointed.

And while I believe everyone is entitled to a fairly expressed opinion, the flip side of that is why should I bother taking my time and effort making videos for ingrates? People think that because there is a degree of anonymity on YT comments, it entitles them to write stupid comments when they couldn't do better themselves. There is also a saying... Put up or shut up. Think it applies just as equally.
Anyone who has ever done video knows how long it takes (anything like 1 hour of shooting to 10 hours of editing). So a massive effort here just in the video aside from these fascinating projects. Great job. To the rest - yes put up or shut up!

Excellent stuff - great work. The only thing that had me cringing was when you were holding down the corner while lifting the drill press from the lowest setting - you had your fingers under the scissor lift...! Ouch. Other than that, I can't find fault with anything, so all the nitpickers who have commented with nitpicks need to pull their respective heads in (Aussie expression there ;) )
And that is some great machinery you have there - I'm lusting after that metal lathe (and the skill to use it).

I've found, much to my dismay, that if you ever browse the comments on any video for more than a few minutes, you will always find nitpickers. And of course, they're usually people who "know" much but have done very little.
Attention to detail as good as a watchmaker - love his workshop and yes every home needs a metal lathe.

Great tool, great video. Just try using some audio track normalization, the changes in volume are bad when we watch in a quiet place.
I always use audio normalization. Can you be more specific?
It happens mostly when you change from recording your voice with the video to voice overs, and back. Maybe the pitch confuses the normalization? It is much better to hear you during the voice over. Tool noise is not usually an issue in your videos, though.

Marius Hornberger Hi Marius, congrats, brilliant piece of work. But agree about sound levels. I watched streamed to tv. If you try it yourself you will notice the difference between the shop mic and the voice over. Maybe you need a boom mic or sit back from the mic during voice over? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great video, Marius. I am really impressed by your woodworking skills. I have made some rough sketches from reference points I found in the video and will try to make my own lifting table. Personally, I wasn't annoyed by the variations in audio. However, I should add that I am using professional audio equipment. If you want a more homogenic and perfect sounding audio throughout your videos you may want to consider a wireless microphone for your video camera.
