I'm 70 and this makes me tear up. Yeah I know, Okay Boomer, but I can remember my dad calling me in to listen to Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald and me thinking, Yeah Pop can I go now? I love all of that now.. From the Temptations, Al Green, The Clash, Michael Franti, Public Enemy, Mac Miller and so many more. I think I know how my pop felt hearing the stuff that was blasting out of my room back in the day. I don't understand a lot of what is popular today and understand the message even less. It's all about money, I got this and that, where's the message now?
This is not music, this is art. Great performance. Thanks for this posting, Kennedy Center. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 2nd March 2024.
I remember when they first came on the scene. They were fresh, exciting and food for the culture! Then they disappeared for years. Glad to see to see them back in America and doing well.
I forgot how good this song was and how good it is today. Great band and singers . It reminds what I might hear in Africa and Atlanta I have never been to Africa. I love the way this sounds.
I just watch this performance from 93 and tbh I think they sound better now their voices are almost exact here compared to then, maybe they've learned to sing better over the years or have rehearsed so much
My Mom and I were sitting around one Saturday morning just talking and Arrested Development's video came on and my Mom was like "they rocked out on this one". Speech still sounds great and their drummer is locked in (others can disagree) he is in the pocket. Some groups sounds totally different live, but AD sounds better in person. The lead guitar player and the bass player did not overpower this track and both stayed tight with the drummer. Man I miss college and next week my Mom and I will have a meal together and on the way rock out to this cut.
Shout out to my favorite people at Dekalb marcy library in BK!.. the baddest team in NYC!, Im sure the rest is great, but this my favorite everyday people!
Why this song has become my tune of choice this 2021 Easter, Resurrection, Day morning? I don’t know! But I will say, I hope the theme of this song is a form of resurrection from the dead acts inflicted upon us BY OUR OWN! For the days of brothers hurting each other needs to go and STAY in the TOMB!!! We command such destructive behavior to be BURIED and may ALL BLACK MEN find the very Christ that will resurrect their lives and every life they bless!!! Break the chains of slavery over the Dark Skin race, Jesus. And let this race fulfill the very purpose they, we, must fulfill; for why else has such a horrible onslaught of destructive force been waged against the powerful force of the Black man???!!!
Is there a happier song on the planet? This is the best.
I think like you sister!
Walking on sunshine is a pretty happy song.
6 years later and your comment still rings true. 🫶🏾
Happy by Pharell is probably Happier. 😊😁😉
OMGosh! His voice is just as beautiful and clear as it was when I was a kid 😊

It takes me back to my teen years? Legendary perfomance
I'm a conservative white guy but I have always loved black peoples voices and music that are in this style. Soul and stuff,
Too bad white people have to preface their comments regarding anything “black” that way

Grew up on them. Thank you for such a positive musical experience in the midst of hip hop horror show of the 90's
Digital Underground and Public Enemy were horrors? Stop listening to the radio and search for other things.
I think they were referring to the death row n badboy violent nonsense of the mid to late 90s.
