    Very nice indeed actually the bluebird has a sleek design it. As I originate from Manchester I know lake Constance very well. As I now live in western australia you can imagine my surprise when I was working in a country town called Dumbleyung and there was a picture of Campbell and Bluebird - he used to practice on the local lake. Who would of thunked it.

    I've got three of these, all different shades of blue. For a vehicle that was famous for it's colour Corgi didn't make much of an effort to be consistent! There is a museum near to me with a section dedicated to Campbell...awesome to see some of his vehicles even if they aren't original. This has always been a favourite casting of mine...great idea using buttons for the wheels Bob. I do like the colour, fairly close match to one of the shades Corgi used. Hope you and your good lady keep well. 👍

    Hi Bob!
    I don’t usually add any comments, in fact this is the first. However, I really, really enjoy your videos and your work. You seem like a very nice chap and my lockdown period in Ireland would not have been as nice without your cheery manner, chit chat and nice restorations. You are very creative and very skilful when it comes to fabricating solutions. I am certain that I don’t have that ability though I wish I had. I can perhaps add something in the way of input by observing that the double flags on the Bluebird should both be Union Jacks (see the box) instead of a Union Jack and a Stars and Stripes. Nevertheless, super restoration, great choice of paint shade and those wheels are genius. My very best to you and Mrs Willis. Éamonn

    • @duygukayhanisaskank4915
      @duygukayhanisaskank4915 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FYI Eamonn Connolly: I sent this commentary to Bob & thought I should send a copy to you...respectfully.
      IMPORTANT NOTE: Hello Bob, During your chit-chat, you spoke about Eamonn Connolly...in Ireland and his comments about Sir Donald Campbells' Bluebird CN7 & the flag decals you reproduced for your beautiful restoration of that Corgi model.
      Connolly stated the flag decal should have been reproduced as 2 British, Union Jack Flags. With "ALL DUE RESPECT" to Mr. Connolly, your decal was "correctly" reproduced.
      There were 2 or 3 versions of the actual Bluebird CN7 car; built for Campbell to set a land speed record. He had already set the speed record for a watercraft.
      None of the Bluebird cars adorned 2 Union Jack Flags. Because the flags denoted the combined efforts of people//sponsors & their nations. The Bluebird CN7 Project was always a joint effort.
      The first CN7 was associated with The U.S.A. This car had the Union Jack & American Flags.
      It was to set the official land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, U.S.A.
      Unfortunately, Campbells' team was misinformed about the speed of the cross-wind on the course. Campbell lost control of Bluebird & crashed at 300+ MPH.
      The next land speed record attempt by Donald Campbell & a new, redesigned Bluebird CN7 was a joint effort by England and Australia. This car was adorned with the Union Jack & Australian flags.
      In 1964, Donald Campbell set the land speed record of 403.1 MPH on the flats of Lake Eyre, Australia. This version of Bluebird CN7 was capable of speeds in excess of 500 MPH.
      But Campbell made a small mistake concerning the throttle over-ride switch during the "official" run.
      Even-so, he accomplished his goal & satisfied the mission of his team & the sponsors. Kindest regards, Ben

    Well Bob, l think you hit that one "right on the button" 😂😂😂So did you buy the paint specifically for the bluebird ? if so l bet it wasn' t from Halfords! You make me chuckle , all these modellers who use primers and etching primers and then rub it down and then get the air brush and give it at least four coats and then use compound polish ....yawn! Not Uncle Bob...2 coats straight on bare metal and BOOM! done!! Great stuff Bob !

    • @BobWilliscorgi
      @BobWilliscorgi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I can’t remember exactly what colour it was now as it was quite a long time ago I did it, just do what I usually do and before you strip the paint take the model with you to where you are buying the paint and match it as close as you can. That’s all I do if I’m unsure of the exact colour, if I remember there’s a colour called “Olympic Blue “ which may be close to it. As for lacquer you just need clear lacquer and the rivets depend on what size holes you drill. Just use your own discretion. 🙂
