@@Tehsnakerer obviously, the coked up speed hopping caused Saul to warp through time and space. I offer this very late comment up to the algorithm gods.
I always wondered why the game never showed the monster that kills the fisherman but in like July of this year some guy dug through the files and actually found and re-implemented it, it's a big anglerfish like the size of a small car. Its texturing is a little rough so I get the feeling they just didn't have the time to touch it up before release and disabled it, but hey, in case you were wondering why the hell game gives so much attention to something that seemingly didn't exist in the retail version.
You lucked out having the Don bug after the forger quest. His next quest is to kill then impersonate a guerilla leader and give a speech that is meant to dissuade people from joining the guerillas but not tip them off that its intentional. I have tried every single combination of answers (there's like 10 dialogue choices you have to make during the speech) and either you get everyone to join the guerillas in the first few questions and fail, or you get them to leave and say screw the guerillas which also causes you to fail the quest. Either way the Don says if he didn't like you so well he would have had you killed, you get some XP but no money and the quest completes and the Don says he has no more quests for you, go see his Nephew, which isn't an actual quest so I never did meet this Nephew.
The defending from guerillas was annoying, and it also requires the RPG perk (apparently you get it for free but it didn't trigger for me) and some areas make the Mafia hostile to you when you reach the part where 2 helicopters attack the boats. I also never found the coke stash after he gave me the key.

That "hop around" is called "Bunnyhopping". It's a common old school FPS movement that comes from a bug in the original Quake Engine. The bug caused the player to keep gaining acceleration on each jump he did, if the camera was slightly twisted to the side and jumping in an angle. The quake engine was extremelly popular and used in many old FPS beyond Quake itself (who popularized the Bunnyhpping). Later, Valve licensed the Quake engine, and heavily modified to develop it's own Source Engine, with which they created Half Life. Altrough source was indeed a heavily modified Quake engine, it still retained the famous bunnyhopping bug, thus Bunnyhopping was possible in both Half Life and Half life 2, allongside a plethoria of other games that used the Source Engine. In modern times, some games (like retro-FPS Dusk) intentionally introduce this bug as a gameplay feature, as it has become a trademark of old-school FPS and skill-based movement.

This first part is actually a reference to the Russian TV show called NashaRasha (OurRussia), which has a bit about two illegal migrants from Central Asia
The ultimate big bad of this game's motivation is "revenge and killing the white man" but the first person we see them kill is a black dude and the two who died in the cutscene seem to also be a black dude and some sort of Hispanic. Amazing storytelling.
I don't remember noticing the first time I watched this video, but the AK model has the safety selector on the wrong side (and in the safe position too, at least if it was where it should go)... But the charging handle is on the correct side, so the model isn't merely mirrored... Did they just think the model needed more visual interest on that side of the gun?

Also, the Fonts are the same as well.
I think I've watched this review, like, a dozen times and I only just now realized at 3:08 you said "gunfire and Russian" and not "gunfire *in* Russian," as if the game had somehow replaced gun sound effects with random voice clips (though I wouldn't put it past this game to make that happen outta nowhere).
Yeah ikr, i just thought the gunshots had distinc dialects that Tehsnakerer just could hear somehow
"I hope that coke comes with kevlar, you son of a bitch!"
Ok that line do go hard.
The intro alone nearly made me sibscribe to this channel, then the hour and a half of great content sealed the deal.
Came back for the driving theme, gah damn. That's right up there with the spirit tracks music when you're driving on the railroads.
I've watched this video a few times and the exchange between Saul and Nixon still cracks me up, both the voice actors sound like they're doing a Rick and Morty style improv bit.
Im recently speaking with one of main gamedesigners of 1st Xenus, and he said thats be completly mess in production, and they changed MH look in 2 game because actor from 1st game dont give them aproval for 2 time))
So I admit. Without context for the thumbnail, I thought the main character was Frank West and this was a Dead Rising prototype.
32:02 ok that was hilarious execution there
There were guys fixing relationships for each faction in the first game, e.g. a bearded guy in the bar of the first city for guerrillas.
Your reviews are so much fun to watch.
Translation of first moments of the video (this is Russian, but with bad accent of Middle-Eastern / Caucasian person, thus mistakes in words to simulate):
- Helloy, mastera.
- Hows da mood?
- Mood is wery good for us, master!
- We build all that master wish.
- If wanted we build house!
He's going through our middle, connector like a SPEED DEMON
This first part is actually a reference to the Russian TV show called NashaRasha (OurRussia), which has a bit about two illegal migrants from Central Asia
The drive music , it's . . . fantastic _!_
The exploration music in this game sounds like a blend between Morrowind and Star Wars.
Oh yesss, this is gonna be good! :)
Hope you enjoy it
Yea :D
Turns out white men can jump...
More like bunnyhop, but still...
i didn't know every CIA agent has the US anthem playing in their near vicinity
This is my favorite video of Teh, second interesting hour long video next to the HDTF video
Hate open world games with weapon degradation but your vids and a fascination of Eurojank have me wanting this and Boiling Point
Lets play a game: Guess which part was used for the E3 and/or demo
I'll get you started: my guess is battle island
The ultimate big bad of this game's motivation is "revenge and killing the white man" but the first person we see them kill is a black dude and the two who died in the cutscene seem to also be a black dude and some sort of Hispanic.
Amazing storytelling.
YES!! Thank you! Xenus 2 had a giant spider that scared the heck out of me! :D
Always happy to see a new video.
Your channel was recommended to me after binging Warlockracy.
I only bring it up because I wonder if he was the person who translated it?
I love these videos n its criminal you're only at 50k subs
Keep this sort of long form criticism up. it's really captivating.
Will do
You wouldn't be able to take the plane or helicopter to either native islands because there's always bad weather around them which automatically brings down aircraft.
1:14:29 So in other words, Saul Myers is the original John Wick?
In all seriousness though, this review was a treat as always. I gotta say though since you seem to really enjoy the combat in this and Boiling Point I have to ask if you've ever considered/ever had played the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games. They would be a great fit to be honest.
I've played STALKER, it's a game I keep restarting and hoping to get proper stuck into and I can't for whatever reason, I'm sure I'll one day beat SoC and CoP.
