Very few Americans seem to have any capacity for understanding Kyary (or even any JPOP at all). We think it's weird, but we listen to totally weird from our own 'musicians' and think it's totally normal --- when it's actually total crap.
No, look at other Japanese music videos from different artists. Ponponpon's music video is INTENTIONALLY weird. Artists like Kyary and Lady Gaga intentionally do stuff like this to grab attention.

@@Sifat_Rashid First off, I'm in my 20's. Second, why am I the one that needs to "grow up" here? I'm not the one trying to argue that Ponponpon is representative of Japanese culture as a whole. There are plenty of Japanese music videos that would seem relatively normal to Americans and other countries. Look at Megitsune by Babymetal. Yeah, it's dark and spooky, but that's the standard for Metal music videos.
Kyary has her own aesthetic for her music videos, much like Aqua has theirs, Rob Zombie has theirs, etc. One musical artist's videos do not define a country as a whole.
