    Very well presented Peter , thank you for that!! but a simple maybe dumb question..."If you are consistently that successful and I do not doubt your honesty at all- why are you spending your time in business and charging $95 a month trying to make money?" Would be nice also to provide an annualized compounding rate of return as opposed to a mount Everest chart. Thank you very much!

    @shadowtrader You failed to add that anyone dreaming of doing the QQQ trade in your video would need a collateral of $285,600 (for the 8 sold put). So, that R to R is horrible.

    Trading comes with high risk, and building the right portfolio sometimes might be tricky. I started off with the help of my financial Advisor who helped every step of the way.

      I agree with your statement, I read a thing or two about passive income and I wanted to continue. I've considered reaching out to a FA, one who can help me make a better financial decisions.

    Very interesting Peter but 1. Aren't simple verticle spreads safe enough without the complexity of these. 2. You might show a risk graph from TOS to clarify things...this can get complicated.

    • @therealshadowtrader
      @therealshadowtrader  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The entire point is that those simple vertical spreads have a much different risk/reward characteristic. Think about how they act if you are long or short of them. You either have laid out a large debit which is at risk if the stock doesn't move OR you have sold it for a credit which is at risk with the short in front of the long. It's all just a new way of thinking about things. They are called "options" 'for a reason......because they give you lots of options :)

    • @stevebrophy6691
      @stevebrophy6691 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealshadowtrader Yes, I was thinking about credit spreads to
      avoid the $ outlay, and relying on a directional move and mitigating the other side if price goes against you, but point well made and thank you.

    sounds cool to say 4000% but on ULTA ratio you are not calculating the return on risk... have to take the buying power/margin into account for calculating your "return"

    • @therealshadowtrader
      @therealshadowtrader  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I purposely never use them. They are a crutch which holds people back from really understanding options and risk inherently at a glance which his what you want to get to. If you need the risk graph to analyze your trade, then it's not a trade you should be doing.

    Peter, outstanding video on how to make money with options in the "REAL WORLD"! Over the last 6 yrs can you share what has been your best adjustment if you short strike and/or the big risk area above/below the BWB or Ratio is getting tested?

    • @therealshadowtrader
      @therealshadowtrader  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say, ,honestly, the best adjustment is usually to close. Depends a lot on how much time to expiry you have. If it's short, then the roll is your best bet. If you have a long way to go, sometimes the best option is to close for a loss and move on. Every single situation is different so it's impossible to give a one size fits all answer.

    Hi Peter, thank you for the video. I have a question regarding the Netflix call bwb. Let’s assume theoretically the NFLX stock price would jump and open with a gap above $530, then instead of collecting the roughly $500, you would pay 800*$35=$28.000, is that correct? No critic, I am just trying to better understand the risk involved.

    • @theinvestorstrategist
      @theinvestorstrategist ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right to ask this question , as Peter should also explain clearly the maximum Loss at risk with the BWB options : My Calculation is : If NFLX Hits 530 on expiry , then your one 485 call contract will be worth $4,5K- BUT your two 490 shorts will be Minus $8K So you will have a loss of $3,500 for each 1/2/1 BWB option contract .( Minus any credit you received minuscule and of course Brokers fees) Conclusion : You are risking $3,500 to win $55 !

    • @therealshadowtrader
      @therealshadowtrader  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@theinvestorstrategist As with anything where you are short something naked (even if you have long vertical in front of it) there is technically unlimited risk. However, being too concerned about that is akin to not going out of your house because something could kill you. The odds of that happening DO exist, but they are very small (depending on where you live, of course).

    Why do you focus so much on "trying to put the trade on for free" when really it seems like the margin requirement for a trade is a more important metric... cuz even a "free" trade can require a sizable amount of margin to establish?

    • @therealshadowtrader
      @therealshadowtrader  ปีที่แล้ว

      I answer that in the video. Because there will be many times that you are wrong on direction and if so, your debit spread will wither away to nothing.
