    Great work, smart utilizing pin mount on the bottom of the ram. I like this design quite a bit

    Got a WFB2 bender and was looking for a better set up. This was helpful. Thanks Mark. Dortmunder is their best 🍺

      Thanks, I hope you enjoy your new bender. I never realized how many times it has come in handy, I use frequently and love it.

    First impression is "clever": I like how compact the whole system becomes when the ram is mounted like that. However...the stand, all it's welds and the mounting bolts now carry the bending loads. I'd add fish plates to the stand and mount joints and also ensure the mount bolts are highly rated because they appear to be in shear.

      I build a rig very similar to this, except with dual uprights and diagonal supports. Works great.

      You are right about that. It was working great until I had to bend a piece of 1 3/4" - 1/8" wall tube where I noticed that it got a little tweeked a bit, nothing that I couldn't easily strengthen back out. I ended up adding a few pieces to support it and it has been fine ever since. I guess you live and learn. If I were to build it again I'd probably put another support of the other side like @gpmike did, which I still might do some day.

    What's the purpose of tacks with tig if you end up mig over..??
    Never seen that before, thought its just funny the way that was performed..😂
    Nice work, i like your stand designed..

      I first planed to tig the entire thing but changed my mind, the mig is just so much faster. Lol Thanks

    Is that a harbor freight router speed control being used on the cutoff saw?
    How well does it perform?

    • @marksplace
      @marksplace  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I got it on Amazon, It's OK I guess. When you slow the saw down you also loose torque which causes the blade to stop in the part you're cutting if lowered to far, so you have to cut somewhat slower. The blade I was using is from Harbor Freight and is still going strong today.
      This is the speed controller I have

    I like the concept but you do realize you can tack with a mig right? I've never seen some use the Tig just for tacking up projects and then weld up with mig...... To each their own I guess. Nice work...
