This is an event I remember well. I was a little kid, but I learned at an early age how handy it is to have a Coleman propane stove when the power goes out. 😂 My mother cooked us breakfast on it and it was awesome. I think we have some pictures that were taken of the ice, etc.

I was born on December 31, 1978 at Dallas Presbyterian hospital. My dad drove my mom to the hospital from The Colony and it took almost three hours. My whole life on my birthday I was reminded of that storm 🥶😂

My 15 yo brother and my 16 yo self looked for homes with fallen trees blocking driveways. We were making great money with our chainsaw, until we let a customer talk us into addressing the damage in their backyard. We grossly under bid the job and spent days there. By the time we finished the crisis was over. Lesson learned.

I vividly remember that ice storm. I was in 8th grade and my best friend was spending the night with me for New Year's Eve and when we woke up the house was freezing!

Wow we have the same power problems now as they had back in 1978

Yup, but this time we have the money to fix it. Instead it’s used to bus immigrants to other parts of the country, that’ll definitely keep us all warm in the winter.

@@xwarped83 so let’s agree on something, get rid of ERCOT, and have it go back to where we have support from surrounding states like Oklahoma and Louisiana. Didn’t have very many outages with their support.

Interesting choice of news events....what's with that guy smoking at the gas pipe? My home was less than a year old when this storm hit.
