Troy has an awesome collection I must say. You can also see the difference in his setup compared to other "standard" poison dart frog terrariums in the US.
I am brand new to the hobby, and I want to do something kinda like this. I am trying to use everything that Troy puts on his TH-cam channel to mimic. I wish I found dart frogs before planted high tech aquariums
Nice tour. Realy beatiful. I have two questions. 1. I think about trying a new setup with sponge substrate. Can you recommend that in therms of long term use? Which ppi? 20 and 10 underneath? 2. The water feature. I would like to have a water feature, but i'm not sure if it works after 2 ore 3 years. If the plants are fully grown and i have to rip everything out to reach the pump...i would be very unhappy.
That is definitely one of the risks of a water feature, if you check out troys build videos and then come back and see them in this video... it definitely works. I believe he just used 20ppi
I don't keep either of those species and haven't done any research about either of them, so unfortunately, you'll have to do some research and see what you can find about their care.
That room is bomb and the terrascaping (esp the moss) is amazeballs! Unless they fairly recently hybridized African Violets to remain “mini” those may actually be a form of Sinningia; same family, growing habit & ease of cultivation. My experience is all AVs sold as “minis” are just new plants that’ll grow to regular size over time. I recently heard Oak leaves (from trees -not Pumilia aka; creeping fig var) can be toxic to animals & fish when used as leaf litter. I haven’t had any experience so I can’t speak on that. If it’s true I wonder if acorns & Oak bark/wood contains the same harmful compound(?) Whoa, only a good friend would be trusted (& voluntarily) help clean someone else’s enclosures, do you do windows...? 😂
Ah that is good to know! Thanks for chiming in. hahah Troy is one of my best friends, I think he trusts us enough to clean some glass. He mentioned it takes him like 2.5 hours to do it, it took the 3 of us, 30 mins haha
Absolutely gorgeous enclosures! What is the best method for getting moss to actually grow and spread? This is an open question for anyone. I've got multiple bioactive, high humidity enclosures but I can NOT get moss to flourish and I'm pretty consistently replacing it because it does off. All other plants do very well, but not the moss and I can't figure it out
@@MikeTytula thanks for the reply. I'll give that a shot because I always just water it with the plants and didn't keep it continuously wet specifically 🤙
I know this problem. In my opinion there are only two factors. Light and water. Enough light is important, but i noticed, that my moss started to grow immediately after changing the misting pump. The lucky reptile super rain nano hasn't have enough power. The new one produces much better misty rain with very fine drops, that reach every corner of the tank. Also i switched the rain intervalls to every 2,5 hrs. So the moos has no chance to get dry.
In tanks with the sponge mat bottom, do you still add a substrate barrier/substrate and a clean up crew? Or do you just put the leaf litter right on top of the sponge and forgo planting on the "forest floor"?
Troy does straight leaf litter on top of it. I typically put some substrate on top of it because I would like to be adding plants into the substrate that are heavier root feeders.
@@MikeTytula Thanks for your reply. Can you use a clean up crew if you don't have any substrate (for example, can you use a clean up crew directly between sponge mat and leaf litter?
There aren't really any places that sell the commercially, but you can look for specialist places near you, like other hobbyists that could build it for you. Alternatively, they are fairly easy to build yourself :)
@@MikeTytula It is a bit clickbaity. You are saying that the frogs in this room, specifically, are deadly. But unless this breeder feeds his frogs venomous centipedes, they aren't dangerous to humans at all. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the tour of this collection
Sadly you need to big up the headline and thumbnail on TH-cam to get both the algorithm to promote you and catch people's eye in the world of so much content to scroll past. Its not completely untrue and if it gets more views so we can have more great content it's all good. I'm sure Mike would rather have a "hey, check out these awesome frogs" title but that's probably not getting anywhere near as many views so ya gotta do what ya gotta do
Not enough people in this hobby go to such detail going tank by tank, I really appreciate it. Such an awesome setup in general
I made sure to take my time with this video! I still cut like 25 mins of footage
We 100% agree with you Tinksmith.. Our company is pushing to make such products other than aquarium fish in cost efficient ways.
Ahh I have used your products before!
@MikeTytula ahh no way, thank you Mike, let us know if you need anything!
@@AquaTopVideos How can I contact you?
such sick stuff man. the Euro fronts are so clean
Ya man the euro fronts are so clean! No spaces between tanks.
Sorry for loud coffee noises 🤣
You are forgiven!
Thanks a lot guys for the Tropical garage toor ;). Nice to see you both ! Take care !
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed!
Aww, hell yeah, Mike! I've been craving some new Troy Goldberg content. Best collab ever!
Have fun, fellas!
HAhah I doubt he will be making many videos! That man is busy with a family and stuff!
Thanks Mike for the tour of one of the best looking garage's on the planet, thanks Troy for letting Mike in.
Definitely the best garage in the country! He's got quite the setup in there!
the room and tanks looks incredible. Amazing content and footage Mike and Troy!
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely the best flogger! Thanks men. It would be cool to show the watering system and operating side of these tanks.
I think Troy has talked about it in some of his past videos
Wicked video buddy! Enjoyed it very much! ❤
Thanks for watching man! Glad you enjoyed! Hope to see you guys soon!
Great looking enclosures and frogs! Love the peacock darts!
Ya the peacocks are insane!
DREAM FROG ROOM, amazing video as always

I love this video Mike, Troy is truly the master . I love his garage.
Troy it definitely one of the GOATs

as always just a stunning set of animals

Nice looking stuff Troy
Some of the best around!
Those are some cool frogs. 😍😁😊🍻🍺
They are some wicked cool frogs!
My man collects frogs like i collect video games😂
Hahah if you enjoy your video games as much as he loves his frogs... you are doing good :)
Just curious, those little cups in the tanks.. what are they called and used for ? I figure for the frogs to go in but wasn't sure.
The tadpools? You mean?
First
hahah you gotta watch the whole video before you can pull that card!

Where’s you get the dwarf African violet at 16:27 ? Does it flower?
It does flower, in one of the vivariums you can see it, purple flower. Not sure what species or anything though.
Absolutely gorgeous enclosures!

The moss has to be continuously wet at the beginning. Like if you let it dry out for more than a day (or less sometimes) it wont grow.
@@MikeTytula thanks for the reply. I'll give that a shot because I always just water it with the plants and didn't keep it continuously wet specifically 🤙

@@marcrademacher1197 what misting pump are you using now?
OK, why was this called a Frog Room Tour when it was clearly a plant room tour with the occasional frog pic.
hahah because it's built for frogs but the plants are a happy side effect
I meet Troy in 2009 in a Ohio reptile show. Cool guy, nice as hell.
Troys a great guy!
I love dart frogs 😍
Sit back and enjoy this video then :)

The springtails can do alright in the leaf litter but I noticed there was almost no isopods when I cleaned out my foam tank the other day.
Hi, what do you use to clean the inside glass of the terrarium?
The clip you saw of us cleaning the glass was just water and sponges haha
I've tried that but always looks streaky 🤔
Are you drying it with paper towel afterwards?
Out of all the cool stuff I just saw my only question is how are you in Troy Goldbergs house and you have no shoes on but he does 😂
Because he wears them everywhere all the time. He doesn’t care if others wear them or not
Great video where do you get all the frogs from.
Troy got them from various people in the US
I know he wont give up the source.... but what type of moss is it he uses? It looks incredible scattered around the tanks!
He literally just knows it as low growing tropical moss haha
may i ask, what kind of camera or device you use to record your video? thank you.
This was filmed with a Canon R6 mkii.
@MikeTytula ohh man that sounds expensive, very nice camera know what that is, we are currently using nikon810 not bad, but not superior as yours.
@@AquaTopVideos Gotta start somewhere!

There aren't really any places that sell the commercially, but you can look for specialist places near you, like other hobbyists that could build it for you. Alternatively, they are fairly easy to build yourself :)
I have no creativity in my body but I want a tank like this. Would absolutely buy a premade one that I just have to maintain.
They aren't cheap, but they look sweet!
0:00 goes hard ngl
Hahah thanks man
They’re so cute
They certainly are!
What are the ones at 10:23 called?
Oophage sylvatica 'Solarte'
Do you make your own fly media?
Troy doesn't, I do.
Who let the dogs out!
Probably Troy
What is the frog at 27:59?
Allobates zaparo
So close to first 😢
Almost!! Next time ;) hahah
captions for the names would be really helpful......................
I will try to include them in future videos

We laughed pretty hard at that one!
bro you need to use that zoom ... we want to see the frogs not the plants....
For the most part, you got to see both
