I guess "staring at your phone and checking out of the game when it's not your turn" could have made the list but that's also just a bad habit for social interaction and board games in general, IMO, but hey we've all been there.
Yea, I'm always asking people if I can throw them some skill cards on their turn. It sometimes changes their game plan by giving them the confidence to try difficult tests with a high pay off.
My oh my, phones are outright banned at my Arkham sessions. Nothing else to break immersion, unless of course you're looking up rules which in Arkham you just might have to...
@@xenoblad For me, that's some of the most fun, haha, I love hearing the coin capsules clattering around each other, as my fingers feel around the tactile bag. Love the mechanic of the chaos bag, brilliantly strong and versatile game design mechanic. That's just me though.
Not only have you described bad habits for the game you’ve clearly described bad habits for all the other aspects of living a life. Cheers and keep on playing!
In my opinion this has got to be one of the best videos for Arkham players, new and seasoned veterans. Definitely guilty of these points too some extent or another in my 35+ years of card games and board games. So important though especially for co-op games like Arkham , especially punishing hard games like Arkham. Thank you, really value this.
I run an open-play/learn-to-play campaign at my FLGS and our sessions usually has two tables, one with experienced players and one with newer players. I always try to tone down my deck plays, as I often sit at the new player table and I don't want to overshadow them. My goal is to guide their play and support them as needed, and this is a humbling reminder to keep my players' fun as my ultimate goal.
So much needed video! 😁 Personally I would had under point #5: "worrying too much about failing a scenario". In our first/blind runs of a campain, me and my friend were used to restart a scenario if we did not win it. This was a little boring/frustrating and basically the only thing that we didn't like about playing Arkham. Now we undestood that failing a scenario is fine, because you can usually still continue the campain....and we are happy ever after 😁
Great point!! You're absolutely right, I should have included that under the last point. Failure is fine, and it doesn't necessarily reflect poor play.
So true! My wife tends to play Milan all the time, playing a bit slowly and a bit selffishly, and I tell her "hey you could do this! Oh please no you should do that instead" so often etc... But hey, we' re still playing together after several years
out of all of this the biggest thing im trying to be better about is whining, everytime i draw the autofail i cant help it, but i definitely want to be better about it
Allow yourselves house ruling like cancel one fail token per scenario if playing with young or novice players. Don't be a rules nazi. And as in every game taking hours - get a shower before sitting next to other people.
It's fine as long as everyone who you're playing with is on board and knows what Amanda's capable of. If you're playing IRL playing Unrelenting over and over is painful to watch just because of having to dig things out of the bag but I think that's worse with Silas since it's every turn.
Amanda is definitely a very fun investigator. One way to dial it back a bit (especially in flex), is to let others help you out in some respect, for example with tough treacheries that might deal you damage / horror. A crazy Amanda going for full power would probably run the Myconid or Forewarned to cancel pretty much everything, but you don't need to do that to do well in the campaign.
Daniel: don't grief by building ineffective decks
My family: adding dynamite and grenades to their deck and then camping the resign

@@WayOfHaQodesh there are some good aps for managing the chaos bag if you aren't into handling the bag all the time.

This was a very well made and thought out video. Kudos to you.

#1 sounds a lot like every seeker player I’ve played with, lol.
I have only played solo, but everything here sounds sensible to me, and plenty of it definitely sounds like the sort of mistakes I would make =)

Does bringing flex Amanda to a 4 player Carcosa run (Finn/Rex/cho) count for this list?
