Nice mod! I was also sick of the screaming fan...ended up replacing with a noctua fan that had a "low noise" adapter. Turns out I didn't need that...just a modern high quality fan made a massive difference. Now I can barely hear it.
Did the exact same on my Falcon. Noctua fan with "low noise" adapter. Really could recommend that! But not sure how much airflow there still is with this combination.
I read an article years ago that the fan wasn't required unless you had a certain configuration/upgrade, I disconnected mine and it didn't cause any issues. Between that and the internal speaker, really annoying!
I think you could probably get away with it in most cases, but I've an accelerator card in there and the COMBEL, VIDEL and SDMA aren't necessarily easy to obtain or replace. No harm in keeping a bit of forced airflow, I reckoned.
I put a Noctua silent wings fan in instead a few years ago
10:04 - NICE !!!

I must have been unlucky -- this is a modern replacement fan, but it makes my ears bleed!
@@thetechnoshed Same with me, I've replaced all fans in Atari's with Noctua too.

Thanks so much for your support
