One thing that isn't even mentioned is the lack of a curb at the drop-off area. This is subtle, but huge. I've flown out of the new LGA 4 or 5 times now, and it's so nice to pull your bag out of the trunk of a Lyft and then just roll right on into the terminal. It's the little details like this that really tell you this is a new airport for the 21st century.

I remember the first time I landed at Laguardia airport (I am European). My friend came to look for me and when he saw me with a panic face he asked me what was wrong with me, and I said to him - Is this one of the main airports of the most powerful city on earth? - He shrugged and said - But it's only the airport, the city is beautiful! -. Good to see that they have fixed that problem, now it is a real airport and not a dystopian set from a zombie movie.

@Liam Don't put words in my mouth that I haven't said. I did not say that the airports in the United States were bad, I said that Laguarida airport was horrible. And it is true that airports like Denver are world class, but ... Denver is not the most powerful capital on earth, New York is, and that is why it was strange that it had such an archaic airport. And everyone mentions the JFk or Newark, I think they also want them or are reforming them, because they are not exactly ... as I would say ... examples of airport architecture to follow.

Super awesome to see this. Flying out of LGA monthly (pre-covid) was always dreadful. I remember my flight from DTW to LGA was delayed due to storms in DTW, so I missed my connection to YHZ from LGA, United rebooked me on the last flight that night at 11PM so I was stuck in that terminal for 12+ hours. I’ll never forget that day. Now I just leave and head into the city. Lesson learned.

The terminals that needed some refreshing are definitely going to get it, so T8, T5 and T4 staying are fine. Only worry is whoever replaces Cuomo is going to throw these plans to the bottom of the food chain. I’m hoping though. Also obviously highway infrastructure will be made easier. I hope they add air trains post security aswell, every terminal felt like it’s own airport before which isn’t good for efficiency

The secret to a great LaGuardia experience is to go very early in the morning or after 8pm. You will have no traffic and you can be home in Manhattan in 30 minutes.
I just flew in to the new terminal and it is beautiful. My only complaint is that the restaurants all close at 9 or 10pm and you have flights arriving up to 11pm. They need to schedule more late night arrivals and departures to ease congestion. And they need to keep the restaurants open later.

Thanks Luis for your quick reply. That was interesting to read about with your latest experience at LGA. I haven't been there since 2008, but remember the old vibe that vintage feel of the old layout. I like seeing all those large windows, where one can look at the city scape, and check out the weather conditions at the same time.

Hi Luis, have you traveled this summer?

@@jorgeaguirre9217 I haven’t flown anywhere since late last year. I was supposed to go to California in April but those plans got postponed to next year. I am flying to North Carolina in a few weeks for a wedding on Delta out of LGA so it won’t be as glamorous as Terminal B, but it should be pretty smooth. I also signed up for Clear to pair with TSA Precheck which will make departures much quicker than it already was.

4:04 - 4:12 If you're talking about landside (as opposed to airside) IIRC (as it's been years since I flew out of LGA, but used to a fair amount as a kid) there also was a little food court with fast food in the old LaGuardia by concourse D (American Airlines) - I think S'barros and Wendy's were 2 fast food joints there were, and the place felt like a damn dungeon. hahaha . This place already looks 1,000 times better.

The biggest problem with LaGuardia isn't the terminals (which suck) but only two short runways that cross. Any winds and they are down to a single runway.

Terminal B is so nice compared to the old terminal. I've been several times since it opened and it's a night and day difference (literally).

New terminals but still the same small airfield. Only two 7000' runways, one in use at any given time. This resulted in long waits for takeoff and guaranteed delays. Air Train helped JFK and will help LGA if it gets built. Quick cheap trip to Manhattan.

The Picture from the (protected?) Marine Terminal at 4:11 is misleading. It’s not part of the main terminal and AFAIK, it isn’t changing.

An N95 mask with the vent filters the exhale also. It’s the fabric masks with vents that don’t filter the exhale and shouldn’t be used.

Finally! I have pretty low standards for airports, because I love traveling. I hated only 1 airport in the world and it was LGA. Now I may buy ticket to LGA again

So a few questions. Are Terminal's A and C still trash? So if I take a Spirit Airline flight in Terminal C, am I checking my bags and going through security in Terminal B, or do I just miss out on the new terminal experience all together? lol
