This dance item, Naba Durga, describes nine different forms of the Goddess Durga and is based on the song by the legendary sage, Maharishi Vyasa. The dancer invokes the Goddess Durga, the destroyer of Shumbha & Nishumbha, the complement of Kali, the killer of Raktabija, and one who is Shakti, the Energy, the Mother, the Maya - the illusion, and peace. The dancer says, ‘I invoke you into my body’. Music composition is by Late Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Dash and choreography is by Padmashri Late Guru Pankaj Charan Das.
