I had an '89 GL. Loved that car, wish I hadn't sold it. Pretty much needed a complete suspension rebuild though and I didn't wanna spend the money. Wish I woulda now
I was in high school when this series came out and I wanted one SO SO badly! But my grandparents who were paying for half of my car didn't want me to get a foreign car. So they and my parents ended up getting me a new 1987 Chevy Nova (that was really a Toyota Corolla wearing a bowtie). I loved that car too, but it sure wasn't a Jetta.
@VITOSGARAGE all they did was cement my love for German cars in stone. I've owned three VWs, three Mercedes, and one swedish Volvo. Love them all. Still own my 2001 beetle now with 343,000 miles on it and my daily commuter.
I still drive mu jetta 1.3 GL from 1986 even i have new car. This car is awsome my Jetta run only on LGP. So cheap car to maintenance and good to drive…
I love everything about this car. The engine is 1.8l but I’m not sure about the horsepower. Comparing to W123 240D that has 60HP, it’s got a lot more power🤣
@@Jerrymiao769 yes. They’re amazing cars. And so simple and very reliable. My friend has this one. He will never ever sell it. And it’s a Stickshift too
I grew up with this series ,Vito!
They’re amazing cars!:)
Love it! I grew up work Golf GTI’s from the 70’s to the 90’s.

Your grandparents steered you in the wrong direction. Classic German cars are amazing and incredible

love that 4th to 5th gear "jet" whirl sound (in the diesel)...
Gotta love the 8V! My dad had an ‘89 GL and put the GLI front chin spoiler on, I’d love to find an original MK2 Jetta in decent condition!
Its looks so good.. and the rims and meaty tyres looks very classic. I have like this rims in my mk3 golf too and they look very classy and original.
Thanks for watching and supporting. We love old school Euro cars!

Take great care of that amazing legend!!!
What engine is this? Many had the 90hp 1.8L in it back then. I used to hate those rims but now it’s great to see them as they are original.

Nice engine i love the 8valve engines Volkswagen made. Ive got a 2e 2L 8v engine in my Polo and its very reliable.
Can you show how the aftermarket stereo is put in place? I’ve been searching but can’t find anything about one
I’ll ask my friend. I am sure he bought it like this but maybe he will have some info for you. Message me on Instagram: vitosgarageyoutube
I miss it so much
Did you own a Jetta like this before?
Yes. Back in my home country. The turn signal, so impressive

@@VITOSGARAGE Never gets old, isn’t it?
@@Jerrymiao769 never. We love Classic cars. Forever and ever
Bro please help me with one
What do you mean “help me”?
Looks great. I prefer the ones with the round headlights personally, like the hatchback version.
What are the rpms like at 70 in this? 3k or more?
No clue about the rpm’s. Sorry
It’s a 5 speed so rpm’s shouldn’t be crazy high
