      Thanks. So I lined up the bolt holes and I cut the skid plate across the top. Making sure that I had 2 inches or so longer so it would tuck above the lower edge of the bumper. This way it won’t flap around on the highway. It looks pretty good until I buy a metal one. If you watch the beginning of this video you can see it pretty good. Any update on rust? I live in Minnesota and my Amazon side Steps are a rusty mess

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven’t had any rust at all but I live in Florida. I also added 2 coats of gloss black paint because I like the gloss black and green look. I will tell you that I just replaced my rear bumper, when I removed the plastic one there was surface rust inside my driver side frame rail, so I sprayed that with rust inhibitor. I wish I could tell you more.

    • @Tristam21
      @Tristam21 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know it’s only been 2 months and you said you would update at 6 months and likely wouldn’t rust yet. Good to know about the rear. I’ve been trying to take off my fenders and wipe the salt off where I can. Maybe I should think about the bumper. I took off my side steps last summer and sprayed them but should do it again

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Tristam21 you know what might good idea if I lived where you live. I have had boats in the ocean for 30 years and they use sacrificial zincs. I don’t know if you know how that works but basically the zink will wear away and save the metal from the salt. TH-cam boat zinks. You just need to bolt it on so it touches the metal. I don’t know if that would work. I take it, it’s the salt that eats up your metal in Minnesota. My side steps are made by RC they are side steps and rockers. They look amazing. I am really happy with the look of the bumper, and there aren’t any tubes to hold the salt. You would just have to rinse the back real good.

      @Tristam21 I lived up north for most of my life. I don’t know if it’s the same where you are, but they would sprinkle rock salt all over the road during the winter. That stuff would eat up cars. All I could really do is try my best to wash it off. Good luck

    • @fredsgarage1925

    What the hell is wrong with companies that you buy your favorite parts from, and they don't include any type of instruction sheet. When you order your replacement part ask for a sheet with instructions for your bumper and Bronco. I really hope the bumper holds together and protects your Bronco from a parking lot idiot driver. Will your new bumper hold a winch if you decide to install one? Great review, Fred.

    • @Sandbergo7
      @Sandbergo7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tow hooks are part of the intercooler mounts on the bottom, you can order the set that doesn’t have them or you can cut them off. The problem is they stick out and interfere with the bumper when trying to mount it. I just went from the plastic bumper to the metal capable bumper and had to do it.

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, so the models with the plastic bumper, have the recovery hooks welded to the inter cooler bracket. So you have two options. 1) you but inter cooler brackets from Ford that do not have the hooks welded on. But when you unbolt the bracket you need to make sure your inter cooler is supported. Or 2) just cut the hooks off. Now no one is going to want you old brackets and no metal bumper will either fit or look good with the original hooks. Let me know if this makes sense.
