On my understanding of this PV, Gumi was the "imaginary friend" or rather a ghost in purgatory who accompanied a boy, Since she died at a young age she never understood that she was dead, As time passed Gumi fell in love with the boy. Once they were in highschool the boy started hanging out with Miku, One day Miku confessed her love to the boy, And is now his right side girl. Gumi overcome with jealousy pushes Miku off the roof of the school. However the boy steps in and sacrifices his life to save her. My reason to believe this is that the lyrics "Word won't come out, they won't come out" Was that the boy was growing up, and trying to fight in his mind that Gumi never existed. (Because in society today if you have imaginary a friend at a older age you are seen as mentally ill) So the boy tried to find somebody to replace Gumi, Talks with Miku And when rage and jealousy bubbled to a breaking point, Gumi used actions instead of words. But also due to the fact an Elegy in English literature is a very serious / emotional poem. Usually for mourning the loss of the dead. A lot of this meaning is for the fan-made PV only.

+TheGhettoOtaku my interpretation is that there are a siblings, twins boy and girl, who are very close. at he school, the boy became friendly and close to another girl (miku) which make the girl (gumi) jealous. tension raise and escalation probably happen. and then we find that the girl was actually an imaginary friend of the boy. girl realizes that she is at fault, and tries to self terminate. boy stops her and surprise! the girl was the real one all this time, the boy is the imagination, mild fridge horror ensue for us. all this time, miku was actually befriending gumi, despite the fact that she must be weird/nuts to see from the outside. gumi finally accept the reality and the boy fades back into gumi. if you want to, you can add the lesbian undertone I guess. but honestly I don't see it. all I see is gumi scared of loosing her long long looong time (imaginary) brother to the passage of time and changes.
ok i really love this song and can't get it out of my head and i have nothing better to do so ima make some theories 1: Gumi was living as a boy all of her life but always saw herself as a girl, hence why when the boy is looking in the mirror he sees gumi instead of himself. Gumi was upset with miku for seeing her as a boy so she pushes her away (tbh i dont think she actually pushed her i think it was more like a interpretation for pushing her away like out of her life) but she actually did like miku so she was upset with herself. she hated living as a boy and thought no one would understand her and was contemplating suicide but she (her male self) talked herself out of it and she says goodbye to her old self and accepts herself as trans and starts dating miku. 2: Gumi has DID (dissociative identity disorder, previously known as mpd/multiple personality disorder) and its herself and the boy. Usually the boy is fronted and gumi just sits on the sidelines but she doesn't mind because she gets to be with him. they've been friends ever since the boy first appeared (maybe a coping mechanism for not having any friends or there was past trauma that messed up gumi and made her develop mpd?). ever since he had appeared she let him have control over their body and would always talk to him and comfort him when he was sad (maybe from being bullied because he was a part of a system and saying he was a boy even though he was in a girl's body and that he wasn't gumi but someone different so people didn't understand) they were the only two who understood each other and that was fine, they didn't need friends or anyone else as long as they had each other (at least thats how gumi saw it.). But then miku comes in and wants to become friends/confesses her love to the boy. Gumi is upset and jealous about this (maybe thinking that miku was just doing this as a prank, since they had never had friends and people bullied them about being in a system their entire lives) and she fronts pushing miku out of anger, the boy sees this and fights gumi and fronts again, hes angry with her (maybe because they were about to make their first first friend? or he actually liked miku?). Gumi saw this as him choosing miku over her so she disappeared. she didn't front and wouldn't even appear to the boy. The boy realized what he did was wrong, he knew that gumi was just lonely and upset because he was her only friend since she never fronted and didn't trust anyone because of them being bullied all of their lives . He missed her so he begged her to show herself to him. she came to him but didn't say anything, he hugged her and told her he was sorry and knew she was lonely so this would be the last time she'd see him because he wasn't gonna come out again so she could live her life, letting her front forever. she knew that he did that so she wouldn't be alone anymore and so people wouldn't think she was crazy for being in a system so she did what she thought would make him happy, she became friends/ starting dating miku since miku already accepted gumi and her system. 3: Gumi has an imaginary friend. She didn't have any friends growing up so she made the boy. they had been friends ever since she made him but then one day miku appeared to befriend them. gumi was jealous so she pushed miku. her imaginary friend saw this and got mad at her, he wanted her to have real friends so why would she do that? she was upset thinking miku was gonna steal her imaginary friend so she disappeared (actualy it was more like she made her imaginary friend not appear to her for a while). gumi contemplates her life, asking if this was really what she wanted, having no friends except a fake one and not even that anymore she since pushed him away too. she knew that he was fake and regretted pushing miku away, possibly the only chance of having a real friend, she wanted to die after realizing all of these sad truths but then her imaginary friend appeared to her. he hugged her and said it'd be okay and that since she finally realized and wanted real friends that she didn't need him anymore that'd she'd be fine by herself and disappeared. she was glad that she had such a great (imaginary) friend and was happy for what he did for her all of her life, she apologized to miku and they became friends. yea idk thats just some possible ways that i could see this story but i'm not sure tbh, i just wanted to share my thoughts and write these theories since i have nothing better to do with my life ;)
Corbyn I really like these but what I think is totally different and more common. I feel like I relate to this song; I was in a similar situation without knowing what to do. So basically I think the song is about friends who have been friends ever since childhood, and when Gumi planned to confess her love Miku stepped in and the guy crushed on her, and Gumi saw this. She was sad and jealous but didn't want to hurt either of them so she didn't know what to do. She didn't know to be jealous, get over him, sabotage their relationship or just sit in the corner and watch them be happy. What I think is she felt pain by watching them get closer and not including Gumi. Idk but as I said earlier I had a similar experience to this so

i think i got a theory. Gumi has an imaginary friend in the mirror(Like B-MO and Football from Adventure time). And she wanted to be always with him. She pushed her friends away and the Imaginary friend got shocked when she did that. I think the song, by itself, is about wanting to disappear... BUT i literally dont care what anyone else says, this mv is so definitely about gumi being trans (like it cant be anything else like yes you may project onto it and see it in a way that relates to you but at the end of the day its intentions were as a trans story). What I think happened is that Gumi had always seen herself as a girl and when she was younger she got into ballet but since people saw her as a boy they made fun of her and bullied her (writing on the notebook and shoes). This causes Gumi to be really inscure about her identity as a girl and hide it away from her friend, Miku. She pushes Miku away when Miku confesses cause she doesn't think miku will understand and would even hate her for it. After this she tries to live as a boy (fem gumi disappears)but she can't cause shes not and learns to accept herself (masc gumi hugging fem gumi) and be friends with Miku again. This mv has waay too many hints of fem Gumi and Masc Gumi being the same person such as their blending shadows and like the whole ending of fem gumi being masc gumis reflection, like?!?! If they wanted her to be a ghost they would've made her be behind masc gumi! Also when masc gumi closes her eyes fem opens hers (0:12 - 0:16) and when masc opens her eyes, Fem closes hers (1:08 - 1:09) Fem gumi is also the one who comforts masc (0:46 masc crying). I think this is to show that Gumi is aware that shes trans but still is too scared to go through with fully accepting herself. This can also be seen by masc gumi having the orange bg in 0:28 i think the orange bg is to show whats happening in real life (when mikue confesses bg is orange (1:42)) and the blue is to show whats happening internally (1:32 fem is in blue bg). 1:46 is when fem opens her eyes in this image and thats when miku joins, I think she opens her eyes to show that because Miku confeses it mean Gumi has to actually tell her "hey im not a guy!!" And shes not ready for that so she pushes her away (metaphorically seen by the way its turns blue at 1:50) The masc is seen pushing away fem gumi , masc opens her eyes at this time as well (1:55) this shows that gumi is trying to push her transness away for the sake of keeping miku as her friend (at 2:03 the lyrics say farewell then at 2:04 the glass breaks on fem gumi which symbolizes Gumi relizing she is 100% girl and also her pushing that away) 2:13 - 2:23 shows fem gumi disappearing. Then during 2:23 - 2:32 Gumi is doing some self reflection coming to the terms that she is tran and pushing it away isnt gonna do anything (2:33 both gumis eyes are open then masc closes hers and fem opens her again showing that Gumi is recognizing her femininty and then she finally accepts herself at 3:00) then its finally fem gumi being comforted finally fem gumi is in the orange bg which shows that gumi now fully accepts herself (3:15)
THIS IS SO REAL YES!!! I have the tiniest differences in my own interpretation but Gumi being transfem is undeniable from the mv. I personally think the scene around 1:40 is Miku romantically confessing to Gumi (masc presenting as she is irl, your points about the orange/blue backgrounds really hold up!), and Fem Gumi pushes her away due to internalized homophobia (not sure if lesbophobia would be accurate here I am not a lesbian and can't speak on it). around 2:00 is where Gumi decides she would prefer to force herself to present as a boy so she can be with Miku, rather than reject Miku and be alone, and her fem self shatters on hearing this. But after she accepts herself for who she is, embracing herself as a girl, we see Miku sitting next to Fem Gumi at 3:13 . Miku loves Gumi for who she is as a person, not her gender, and that's something I think needs to be normalized. Loving a partner equally before and after their transition.

My theory (that seems to be one of three-ish theories floating around) is that Gumi is transgender. There are two Gumis, not literally, but one is male and the other is female. Gumi(M) is the body, while Gumi(F) is the heart, and Gumi has always felt more like a girl since childhood. His girl side is comforting to him, as he knows he was born with the wrong body. Looking in the mirror, he sees himself as a girl even if no one else does. For most of his life, he also seems alone to himself. Maybe he was bullied, or maybe he'd rather be alone than have people close to him that makes him feel more like a guy. A lot of scenes show Gumi(M) sitting on the school roof with Gumi(F), facing the screen. I feel like this is a metaphor to show that Gumi is confined and tries to ignore reality, rather lingering in a limbo where Gumi is sort of neither male nor female, yet also both. I feel like Gumi is content in this state, probably feeling like if he accepts how he truly feels and tries to transition then people will judge him for it and he'd feel even worse about himself. Like Gumi is "surviving" but not "living". When Miku confronts Gumi, I feel as though it's a love confession, to which Gumi seems to accept and the two either became close friends or a couple, hence why Miku is seen sitting next to Gumi(M). Its also worth noting that Gumi(M) and Miku are both facing out, off of the rooftop, while Gumi(F) is facing the camera. Earlier, both Gumis were facing the camera. I think this signifies that Gumi(M) is trying to grow up and away from their female side. Gumi(F) just wants to stay the way things were and is annoyed that Miku is unconsciously changing her. Gumi(F) also probably feels like Miku makes her more like a guy (because they may be a couple) and (not literally) pushes Miku away. But Gumi(M) also likes Miku (either as a friend or as a couple) and doesn't want to hurt her so even though it hurts "him", he pushed away the belief that he was really a girl that he had all of his life. The lyrics, "Cutting up my feelings, bye bye bye, Is that what I wanted?" And the montage of images that come before that (all of Gumi's childhood as he tries erasing his female side) thoroughly supports this. But Gumi(M) realizes that he has tried to throw away a huge part of him, and accepts that he really is a girl, as you see when the two Gumis hug eachother. Then the female Gumi is at the top, followed by the hugging scene with Gumi(M) disappearing, and a series of images switching between male and female before settling on female. Gumi makes the transition, and can finally be herself. The metaphorical roof scene makes another appearance at 3:20, as a female Gumi stares out off the roof for the first time. She has accepted reality, and is moving forward, and though she is alone, Gumi is okay. She's happy. She's herself.

My theory is: The boy and Gumi were twins who were very close and grew up together. Eventually, the boy started dating Gumi's best friend Miku and ignoring Gumi. Gumi thought she was angry that her brother had seemingly abandoned her, but in reality it was because she had feelings for Miku. Unable to accept her feelings for Miku, she pushed Miku away from the friend group. She confronted her brother and they got into an argument, which culminated in Gumi, in a fit of rage, pushing her brother off the roof, instantly killing him. Years later, Gumi became depressed due to her grief and believing she should have died instead. She tries to escape this by ignoring the real world, pretending Miku and her are still friends and her brother is alive. Unable to cope with the truth, she tries to kill herself until her brother's ghost saves her. Gumi is finally able to forgive herself and reunites with Miku.

I think it's either about a transgender person who fully accepts they're transgender when miku confesses her love or a person with two personalities who ends up being only one of them when miku confesses her love idk
I'm still puzzled, but there is one thing I'm fairly sure of: the boy we see in the video is none other but herself. Basically, he doesn't exist and is just there to emphasize her homosexuality. I don't get why GUMI had to push the girl, but the thought of Miku confessing to her keeps crossing my mind. Perhaps GUMI just didn't want to admit that she was homosexual, therefore she rejected her (in the video, we see the boy being disturbed by her actions; it can possibly mean that she didn't really want to do that).
Where are with the ideas about this PV being about Gumi being trans? It's pretty obviously not. In this PV, it's most likely about a girl dealing with a close friend, sibling, or lover committing suicide, hence the shoes. She most likely blames herself, as it seems that she was trying to make sure he spent time only with her, which explains her reaction the the other girl interacting with him. I can't see how people can think that it's about Gumi's character being trans.

My interpretation is always that the girl (gumi) has an imaginary friend/hallucination from some mental illness. They are best friends and love each other. They talk on the roof together, and miku overhears. Miku tries to tell gumi that he isn't real, and it makes gumi upset. But it gets to her. The fact that he's transparent to other people. The secret truth she knows but won't admit. She hates it, and it hurts. She wants to let go, but she loves him. So she decides to kill herself (the part where she disappears. If you look at the song from gumis perspective from the beginning, like you're in her eyes looking at the boy.) she's telling the boy about how she'll disappear. Then, while contemplating why she's doing it, she just says that she wishes everything, including the boy, would disappear. In this confession, the boy hugs her and disappears. This is where you see the boy is in the dark, and you see that he wasn't part of the real world. He was just her imagination
My interpretation is: the boy we see in the video is none other but herself. Basically, he doesn't exist and is just there to emphasize her homosexuality. I don't get why GUMI had to push the girl, but the thought of Miku confessing to her keeps crossing my mind. Perhaps GUMI just didn't want to admit that she was homosexual, therefore she rejected her (in the video, we see the boy being disturbed by her actions; it can possibly mean that she didn't really want to do that).

On my understanding of this PV,
Gumi was the "imaginary friend" or rather a ghost in purgatory who accompanied a boy, Since she died at a young age she never understood that she was dead, As time passed Gumi fell in love with the boy.
Once they were in highschool the boy started hanging out with Miku, One day Miku confessed her love to the boy,
And is now his right side girl. Gumi overcome with jealousy pushes Miku off the roof of the school.
However the boy steps in and sacrifices his life to save her.
My reason to believe this is that the lyrics "Word won't come out, they won't come out"
Was that the boy was growing up, and trying to fight in his mind that Gumi never existed.
(Because in society today if you have imaginary a friend at a older age you are seen as mentally ill)
So the boy tried to find somebody to replace Gumi, Talks with Miku
And when rage and jealousy bubbled to a breaking point, Gumi used actions instead of words.
But also due to the fact an Elegy in English literature is a very serious / emotional poem. Usually for mourning the loss of the dead.
A lot of this meaning is for the fan-made PV only.

girl realizes that she is at fault, and tries to self terminate. boy stops her and surprise! the girl was the real one all this time, the boy is the imagination, mild fridge horror ensue for us.
all this time, miku was actually befriending gumi, despite the fact that she must be weird/nuts to see from the outside. gumi finally accept the reality and the boy fades back into gumi.
if you want to, you can add the lesbian undertone I guess. but honestly I don't see it. all I see is gumi scared of loosing her long long looong time (imaginary) brother to the passage of time and changes.

1: Gumi was living as a boy all of her life but always saw herself as a girl, hence why when the boy is looking in the mirror he sees gumi instead of himself. Gumi was upset with miku for seeing her as a boy so she pushes her away (tbh i dont think she actually pushed her i think it was more like a interpretation for pushing her away like out of her life) but she actually did like miku so she was upset with herself. she hated living as a boy and thought no one would understand her and was contemplating suicide but she (her male self) talked herself out of it and she says goodbye to her old self and accepts herself as trans and starts dating miku.
2: Gumi has DID (dissociative identity disorder, previously known as mpd/multiple personality disorder) and its herself and the boy. Usually the boy is fronted and gumi just sits on the sidelines but she doesn't mind because she gets to be with him. they've been friends ever since the boy first appeared (maybe a coping mechanism for not having any friends or there was past trauma that messed up gumi and made her develop mpd?). ever since he had appeared she let him have control over their body and would always talk to him and comfort him when he was sad (maybe from being bullied because he was a part of a system and saying he was a boy even though he was in a girl's body and that he wasn't gumi but someone different so people didn't understand) they were the only two who understood each other and that was fine, they didn't need friends or anyone else as long as they had each other (at least thats how gumi saw it.). But then miku comes in and wants to become friends/confesses her love to the boy. Gumi is upset and jealous about this (maybe thinking that miku was just doing this as a prank, since they had never had friends and people bullied them about being in a system their entire lives) and she fronts pushing miku out of anger, the boy sees this and fights gumi and fronts again, hes angry with her (maybe because they were about to make their first first friend? or he actually liked miku?). Gumi saw this as him choosing miku over her so she disappeared. she didn't front and wouldn't even appear to the boy. The boy realized what he did was wrong, he knew that gumi was just lonely and upset because he was her only friend since she never fronted and didn't trust anyone because of them being bullied all of their lives . He missed her so he begged her to show herself to him. she came to him but didn't say anything, he hugged her and told her he was sorry and knew she was lonely so this would be the last time she'd see him because he wasn't gonna come out again so she could live her life, letting her front forever. she knew that he did that so she wouldn't be alone anymore and so people wouldn't think she was crazy for being in a system so she did what she thought would make him happy, she became friends/ starting dating miku since miku already accepted gumi and her system.
3: Gumi has an imaginary friend. She didn't have any friends growing up so she made the boy. they had been friends ever since she made him but then one day miku appeared to befriend them. gumi was jealous so she pushed miku. her imaginary friend saw this and got mad at her, he wanted her to have real friends so why would she do that? she was upset thinking miku was gonna steal her imaginary friend so she disappeared (actualy it was more like she made her imaginary friend not appear to her for a while). gumi contemplates her life, asking if this was really what she wanted, having no friends except a fake one and not even that anymore she since pushed him away too. she knew that he was fake and regretted pushing miku away, possibly the only chance of having a real friend, she wanted to die after realizing all of these sad truths but then her imaginary friend appeared to her. he hugged her and said it'd be okay and that since she finally realized and wanted real friends that she didn't need him anymore that'd she'd be fine by herself and disappeared. she was glad that she had such a great (imaginary) friend and was happy for what he did for her all of her life, she apologized to miku and they became friends.
yea idk thats just some possible ways that i could see this story but i'm not sure tbh, i just wanted to share my thoughts and write these theories since i have nothing better to do with my life ;)

Corbyn I really like these but what I think is totally different and more common. I feel like I relate to this song; I was in a similar situation without knowing what to do. So basically I think the song is about friends who have been friends ever since childhood, and when Gumi planned to confess her love Miku stepped in and the guy crushed on her, and Gumi saw this. She was sad and jealous but didn't want to hurt either of them so she didn't know what to do. She didn't know to be jealous, get over him, sabotage their relationship or just sit in the corner and watch them be happy. What I think is she felt pain by watching them get closer and not including Gumi. Idk but as I said earlier I had a similar experience to this so

I think the song, by itself, is about wanting to disappear... BUT i literally dont care what anyone else says, this mv is so definitely about gumi being trans (like it cant be anything else like yes you may project onto it and see it in a way that relates to you but at the end of the day its intentions were as a trans story). What I think happened is that Gumi had always seen herself as a girl and when she was younger she got into ballet but since people saw her as a boy they made fun of her and bullied her (writing on the notebook and shoes). This causes Gumi to be really inscure about her identity as a girl and hide it away from her friend, Miku. She pushes Miku away when Miku confesses cause she doesn't think miku will understand and would even hate her for it. After this she tries to live as a boy (fem gumi disappears)but she can't cause shes not and learns to accept herself (masc gumi hugging fem gumi) and be friends with Miku again. This mv has waay too many hints of fem Gumi and Masc Gumi being the same person such as their blending shadows and like the whole ending of fem gumi being masc gumis reflection, like?!?! If they wanted her to be a ghost they would've made her be behind masc gumi! Also when masc gumi closes her eyes fem opens hers (0:12 - 0:16) and when masc opens her eyes, Fem closes hers (1:08 - 1:09) Fem gumi is also the one who comforts masc (0:46 masc crying). I think this is to show that Gumi is aware that shes trans but still is too scared to go through with fully accepting herself. This can also be seen by masc gumi having the orange bg in 0:28 i think the orange bg is to show whats happening in real life (when mikue confesses bg is orange (1:42)) and the blue is to show whats happening internally (1:32 fem is in blue bg). 1:46 is when fem opens her eyes in this image and thats when miku joins, I think she opens her eyes to show that because Miku confeses it mean Gumi has to actually tell her "hey im not a guy!!" And shes not ready for that so she pushes her away (metaphorically seen by the way its turns blue at 1:50) The masc is seen pushing away fem gumi , masc opens her eyes at this time as well (1:55) this shows that gumi is trying to push her transness away for the sake of keeping miku as her friend (at 2:03 the lyrics say farewell then at 2:04 the glass breaks on fem gumi which symbolizes Gumi relizing she is 100% girl and also her pushing that away) 2:13 - 2:23 shows fem gumi disappearing. Then during 2:23 - 2:32 Gumi is doing some self reflection coming to the terms that she is tran and pushing it away isnt gonna do anything (2:33 both gumis eyes are open then masc closes hers and fem opens her again showing that Gumi is recognizing her femininty and then she finally accepts herself at 3:00) then its finally fem gumi being comforted finally fem gumi is in the orange bg which shows that gumi now fully accepts herself (3:15)

THIS IS SO REAL YES!!! I have the tiniest differences in my own interpretation but Gumi being transfem is undeniable from the mv.
I personally think the scene around 1:40 is Miku romantically confessing to Gumi (masc presenting as she is irl, your points about the orange/blue backgrounds really hold up!), and Fem Gumi pushes her away due to internalized homophobia (not sure if lesbophobia would be accurate here I am not a lesbian and can't speak on it). around 2:00 is where Gumi decides she would prefer to force herself to present as a boy so she can be with Miku, rather than reject Miku and be alone, and her fem self shatters on hearing this. But after she accepts herself for who she is, embracing herself as a girl, we see Miku sitting next to Fem Gumi at 3:13 . Miku loves Gumi for who she is as a person, not her gender, and that's something I think needs to be normalized. Loving a partner equally before and after their transition.

My theory (that seems to be one of three-ish theories floating around) is that Gumi is transgender.
There are two Gumis, not literally, but one is male and the other is female. Gumi(M) is the body, while Gumi(F) is the heart, and Gumi has always felt more like a girl since childhood. His girl side is comforting to him, as he knows he was born with the wrong body. Looking in the mirror, he sees himself as a girl even if no one else does. For most of his life, he also seems alone to himself.
Maybe he was bullied, or maybe he'd rather be alone than have people close to him that makes him feel more like a guy. A lot of scenes show Gumi(M) sitting on the school roof with Gumi(F), facing the screen. I feel like this is a metaphor to show that Gumi is confined and tries to ignore reality, rather lingering in a limbo where Gumi is sort of neither male nor female, yet also both. I feel like Gumi is content in this state, probably feeling like if he accepts how he truly feels and tries to transition then people will judge him for it and he'd feel even worse about himself. Like Gumi is "surviving" but not "living".
When Miku confronts Gumi, I feel as though it's a love confession, to which Gumi seems to accept and the two either became close friends or a couple, hence why Miku is seen sitting next to Gumi(M). Its also worth noting that Gumi(M) and Miku are both facing out, off of the rooftop, while Gumi(F) is facing the camera. Earlier, both Gumis were facing the camera. I think this signifies that Gumi(M) is trying to grow up and away from their female side.
Gumi(F) just wants to stay the way things were and is annoyed that Miku is unconsciously changing her. Gumi(F) also probably feels like Miku makes her more like a guy (because they may be a couple) and (not literally) pushes Miku away. But Gumi(M) also likes Miku (either as a friend or as a couple) and doesn't want to hurt her so even though it hurts "him", he pushed away the belief that he was really a girl that he had all of his life. The lyrics, "Cutting up my feelings, bye bye bye, Is that what I wanted?" And the montage of images that come before that (all of Gumi's childhood as he tries erasing his female side) thoroughly supports this.
But Gumi(M) realizes that he has tried to throw away a huge part of him, and accepts that he really is a girl, as you see when the two Gumis hug eachother. Then the female Gumi is at the top, followed by the hugging scene with Gumi(M) disappearing, and a series of images switching between male and female before settling on female. Gumi makes the transition, and can finally be herself.
The metaphorical roof scene makes another appearance at 3:20, as a female Gumi stares out off the roof for the first time. She has accepted reality, and is moving forward, and though she is alone, Gumi is okay. She's happy. She's herself.

My theory is: The boy and Gumi were twins who were very close and grew up together. Eventually, the boy started dating Gumi's best friend Miku and ignoring Gumi. Gumi thought she was angry that her brother had seemingly abandoned her, but in reality it was because she had feelings for Miku. Unable to accept her feelings for Miku, she pushed Miku away from the friend group. She confronted her brother and they got into an argument, which culminated in Gumi, in a fit of rage, pushing her brother off the roof, instantly killing him. Years later, Gumi became depressed due to her grief and believing she should have died instead. She tries to escape this by ignoring the real world, pretending Miku and her are still friends and her brother is alive. Unable to cope with the truth, she tries to kill herself until her brother's ghost saves her. Gumi is finally able to forgive herself and reunites with Miku.

My interpretation is always that the girl (gumi) has an imaginary friend/hallucination from some mental illness. They are best friends and love each other. They talk on the roof together, and miku overhears. Miku tries to tell gumi that he isn't real, and it makes gumi upset. But it gets to her. The fact that he's transparent to other people. The secret truth she knows but won't admit. She hates it, and it hurts. She wants to let go, but she loves him. So she decides to kill herself (the part where she disappears. If you look at the song from gumis perspective from the beginning, like you're in her eyes looking at the boy.) she's telling the boy about how she'll disappear. Then, while contemplating why she's doing it, she just says that she wishes everything, including the boy, would disappear. In this confession, the boy hugs her and disappears. This is where you see the boy is in the dark, and you see that he wasn't part of the real world. He was just her imagination
