Comments: 1 Awesome job on the turn, decoration, fit and finish. It looks as good as the original. 2. Every wood turning on TH-cam needs to understand the compressed/sped up turning featured in this video. Watching a 30-60 minute, multi part, wood turning extravaganza on making a bowl/plate/candle stick is soooooo boring. Your version got to the point, demonstrated the planing, skill, and completion without the labored process. OUTSTANDING.
Thanks! I'm new to turning and trying to make it interesting is hard! This isn't a "how to lathe" video so I can get away with a couple big jump cuts haha! Thanks for watching and the feedback; its very much appreciated!
My suggestion is to keep to this style. There are plenty of "teachers" out there. You are a member of the rare - here's what I made. Or to put it another way; if wood workers were to make videos in the "turner" mode, they would include the harvest, cutting, drying/seasoning, selecting, measuring, re-sawing and cutting into the process of building of a wooden cube. A ten part extravaganza. - just my two cents. -Annie
You...you really made that fucking bat by yourself. I was expecting you to buy a plain wooden bad and just draw stuff on it. I'm genuinely impressed, good job man.
That look fantastic!! To really seal in that paint and give it a gloss finish look I would recommend coating the bat in wax (Bees wax is good) while spinning it on the lathe
Yes, it won't be able to bleed into the wood. And you can put a coat over the sharpie to lock it in too. But be careful; too heavy of a coat and it could bleed the sharpie.
SavageSister i watched it in german, because i'm german xd 😂 yeah i like the movie for sure and i recommend further the movie (sorry my englisch is not perfect, i hope you understand all 😅😊) p.s. you will love Harley ;) !
Last time I tried painting something with a tape pattern like that I had a lot of trouble with bleeding. Next time I'll try lacquering first like you did. Nice work!
WOW! You sir are extremely TALENTED!! Wood working is almost a lost art form with all the automated machines, amd plastic builds now a days! Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing...
GlitterTasticGamer I saw it today. it my not be the best film ever made, but if you are a fan of the whole thing you will enjoy it. Watching it I was thinking to my self, please show more of that, and a lot less of this.
this is amazing!, i am a harley cosplayer and im amazed by this bat! ive ordered a plastic plain bat to design this week as the convention im going to would see a wooden one as a weapon so dont wanna risk taking it :( your bats look amazing! good job!!
Hey! Will that satin spray laquer stop the sharpie words from bleeding out? Also have you got any other reccomendations for stopping sharpie from bleeding out when you write the nursey rhyme on the bat? Would car paint glaze work? Many thanks, it looks great!
details are in the description. I can't comment on finishes I've never used but spray lacquer is cheap and that's what I used. Stencil, red paint, dirty up the letters, remove the stencil, spray lacquer, sharpie, LIGHT COATS of spray lacquer. Too much lacquer at one time will cause the sharpies to bleed. trust me.. Thanks for watching!
Very nice! I do have one question, though: Why go to all the extra trouble of gluing up and turning the bat, instead of buying one? If it's just for the fun of turning your own bat, I can understand that! Very informative video!
yo I can't seem to find the link in the description for the script as I am making my own harley quinn bat and need the script could u please help, thanks
I want to make one with a pre-made bat, but I don't know if I should remove the branding. I also don't know how to. With sand paper? Then put a clear coat of spray paint or something?
+Dustin Penner haha, sorry, my brightness was right down so I couldn't see the light wrap and just thought it was part of the wood, well done anyway :-)
Rena Kowalczyk the best is always whatever gets the job done. If the end result looks the same, it doesn't matter what you use. I have a well stocked spray paint shelf so that's best for me.
Enjoy this video? Fantastic! Do me a favour and follow me on Instagram - @dpmakestuff. I do giveaways and you get to see what I'm working on every day. Thank you!

What he said.
me to.
Thanks!

So clear lacquer will prevent the sharpies from bleeding when writing the text, correct?
Yes, it won't be able to bleed into the wood. And you can put a coat over the sharpie to lock it in too. But be careful; too heavy of a coat and it could bleed the sharpie.
Thanks for the info dude!
I have some Rustoleum flat clear, would that work to prevent bleeding or should I go buy some clear lacquer?
No idea. I've never used it.
Southpaw FX h
That's a lot of effort to make a bat. Impresive. I love the detail.
And I'm liking this for the 'after credit' scene.
lol
it looks really nice I love the spray you used its really Shiny haven't seen someone use that kind of spray😮
I actually laughed out loud at the wood glue bit, the struggle is real sometimes
haha! Thanks!

SavageSister i watched it in german, because i'm german xd 😂 yeah i like the movie for sure and i recommend further the movie (sorry my englisch is not perfect, i hope you understand all 😅😊) p.s. you will love Harley ;) !

WOW! You sir are extremely TALENTED!! Wood working is almost a lost art form with all the automated machines, amd plastic builds now a days! Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing...
This entire time I was thinking, " he's gonna get a splinter he's gonna get a splinter HE IS GOING TO GET A SPLINTER!!!!!!"
Lol
Wow I never realized that's what it actually said on the bat. I love it!
Sealing the tape is genius! Thanks for that tip, and the whole project turned out great :)
I am not 100% but I think that was a Jimmy DiResta tip! It works great. Thanks for watching!!

Beatriz Atehortua What
Great project, writing the script on it turned out great. Must have been a little nerve wracking to do by hand!
Totally! That's why I sealed it first. I figured that would give me room for a couple errors. Thanks!
Better job making that, then they did the film.
Too soon?
Lol but even though it's supposedly a bad movie, I still want to see it
+GlitterTasticGamer same here
GlitterTasticGamer
I saw it today. it my not be the best film ever made, but if you are a fan of the whole thing you will enjoy it.
Watching it I was thinking to my self, please show more of that, and a lot less of this.
+TheDutyPaid It had some flaws the writing/plot but the whole design from characters to sets was a cool take on on the whole suicide squad idea
HARLEY QUINN GAMING
It was probably not even a real bat in the film, you can't have actors hurting themselves.
this is amazing!, i am a harley cosplayer and im amazed by this bat! ive ordered a plastic plain bat to design this week as the convention im going to would see a wooden one as a weapon so dont wanna risk taking it :( your bats look amazing! good job!!

I envy your patience.
Thanks!
If I were to purchase your template would I be able to print out and use the Good Night font and sizing that you have used?
Sarah Campbell yes. It's in a .svg format so you could have a print shop cut you a vinyl stencil too.

Great job. Buying or building a drag knife could be an option if you plan to cut out shapes more often.
I'll look into it! Thanks for watching!
Please make a wand from the Star vs the forces of evil
I do not know what that is. Like a Harry Potter wand?
haha! Thanks for the link. That is not what I was expecting!

Amazing job! I was searching for the exact words on the bat, but couldn't find them any where. Thanks for sharing! Your work is impressive!
Thank you!
You have a very special talent there. Must have took years to perfect. Kudos. 👍
Thanks very much!
You did a great job man! You are really talented! But how did you know that the description should be that exact size?
Brilliant Build and Video, the attention you took to do all that detail work was Fantastic. Well Done, Barry (from England)
Thanks Barry! Appreciate it!
The best DIY that I have ever seen!!
Congratulations
Thanks!
Great job channeling your inner me. Looks fantastic!
Thanks man!
Hey! Will that satin spray laquer stop the sharpie words from bleeding out? Also have you got any other reccomendations for stopping sharpie from bleeding out when you write the nursey rhyme on the bat? Would car paint glaze work? Many thanks, it looks great!
I'd like to know this too - both for the sharpie and the spray paint.
details are in the description.
Damn dude, I was expecting just a video on how to dress up a bat not how to build one then dress it up. you sir have commitment
No messing around on this channel!
I don't know why, but I loved the sound of this video it's so relaxing
Glad this wasn't just, how to apply a logo to a bat. Nice build sir!
That would have been the worst! We don't mess around on this channel! Thanks!
+Dustin Penner you are so smart. I don't think I could ever in a million years come up with this. Nice dude!
This is the most amazing tutorial of Harley Quinn's bat I've ever seen
Thanks!
Good one, Dustin! Carving the tape is a neat idea!
Thanks Art! I'm surprised it worked truth be told. I tried layers of vinyl but that was a disaster. My backup plan was to have a sign shop cut it out.
for Christmas and getting a Harley Quinn bat I'm so excited
Awesome build dude!
Some great painting tips & tricks here.
Awesome job man!!!! Looks great. Great job on the diamond pattern 👍🏻
You're from Canada, hockey stick should be up next!🏒🇨🇦
Harley Quinn inspired hockey stick... You may be onto something there!! Thanks!

I've been thinking about it!
What size bat for the template u made (that ur selling on ur website) be?
i can't find the templates for the "good night" and the lettering? Could you post the link, that would be awesome!
It's on my website
Very nice! I do have one question, though: Why go to all the extra trouble of gluing up and turning the bat, instead of buying one? If it's just for the fun of turning your own bat, I can understand that! Very informative video!
Honestly you won't have a problem selling these or finding customers because so many people are going to need this for there cosplay trust me
I'll see how the first 10 go. I nearly have enough people to do a small run.
love your bat. were can I get it from
im here from Phillip defrancos video much love to you Dustin :D
Thanks so much!
I have never seen something so cool. Maybe I'm easily impressed but to me this is the coolest thing in the world 😃
You are not deceived! This is the coolest thing in the world. Thanks!
where I could find the inscriptions from a baseball bat? because I searched for and do not have on the net and I only need all the subtitles.
Someone saw the Tested video on Harley's weapons. Great build!
I didn't! What video?
son. of. a. bitch. This would have saved me hours of research...
+Dustin Penner LOL, congrats on the video, you got a great collectible and you made it yourself!

Yo right at the top. You need to go to my website
Ahhh thank you
Sweet! So cool! I like the way you made/built it!
I want to make one with a pre-made bat, but I don't know if I should remove the branding. I also don't know how to. With sand paper? Then put a clear coat of spray paint or something?
There are a bunch of tutorials on Instructable!
Great! Congrats for the masterpiece! Could You tell if there's a specific name for the Font letter for "Good Night"? Thanx!
Can I ask for the measurements for the diamonds around the bat? All of them?
2 1/4" X 3/4"
Omg dude good job on making that bat love it!
people like you make me so glad i live in canada
haha! Thanks very much!
This was amazing and so satisfying OMGGGG 😍
Very cool but.... isn't there meant to be some sort of wrap on the handle ?
Kind of like the wrap I put on the handle?
+Dustin Penner haha, sorry, my brightness was right down so I couldn't see the light wrap and just thought it was part of the wood, well done anyway :-)
I thought this would be customizing a baseball bat wow this is amazing
That last part is really Funny! Bravo my good man. I needed a good laugh today.
haha! Thanks!
Hi, could you tell me when I could find the words for the bat to print please? Also you are incredibly talented and I really enjoyed the video
what is the difference to use spray paint and acrylic paint with sharpie?? Which is the best?
Rena Kowalczyk the best is always whatever gets the job done. If the end result looks the same, it doesn't matter what you use. I have a well stocked spray paint shelf so that's best for me.
really wish i had the skill to make one for my cosplay costume, very nice job!
Thanks! You can buy one in the description!
awesome paint job!
thanks!
Wow, looks awesome! Very professional. Going to make my own, but not the bat itself. Have ordered one 😁
Awesome! Thanks!
I hope mine looks as good as yours :o)
Sorry to bother but can you name the sprays you used? The lacquer and varnish because the camera gets wonky when you show them. Thank you. Great work!
JOHN HAMMOND CANE... That would be awesome and I would for sure buy one!
dude. love it. I'm going to add that to the list.
