    Explaining the use of 'Elbow Force' in Wing Chun t perform the Bong Sau movement!
    Bong Sau is possibly the most misunderstood movement in Wing Chun becasue many belive it to be merely a blocking upward movement when in fact it is one of the most offensive movements that creates a 'corkscrew' type of drilling and multi-directional force IF the joints of the shoulder and elbow are utilized correctly...
    *A note about this channel the lineage:
    Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
    He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nim King practiced under hin in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
    Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
    Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
    Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

    The idea is more important than the position. Form follows function, but function follows "intent". The mind must direct intention, the body or movement merely results. Movements are less important than inner understanding. Muscle. Structure. Intent. Each is greater than the last, despite what many teach.
    Yet another fascinating glimpse into a true master. Thank you.

      Yes definitely. The state is the key. I always tell my students that the condition is always more important that the position. Having said this, having correct shapes and structures and positions is an important aspect on the path on gaining the right state. Unfortunately within the CST lineage, many practitioners disregard the correct shapes because all they are going for is relaxation. So that results in them attaining floppy/mind;less relaxation which is not what CST was teaching. 🙏

    I think it has something to do with the structure of the socket of the shoulder joint and its surrounding muscles.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes being able to tap into the ball joint is one aspect. also the shoulder blades. So its about the unique control of the entire shoulder girdle.
      According to Chu Shong Tin he was mainly using his ligaments. I think the Fascia has a big part in it as well

    actually (sink) is the exact word of use muscular force or I can say (put down) , cause the human being tend to raise them Rhomboid and lift them shoulders up when action, but I think sifu CST meant to do the opposite Sink the Rhomboid muscles and put down your shoulder.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its about relaxing all the muscles around the shoulder girdle. The skeleton is what settles and stays in place (sunk) while in action or under pressure

      Well physiology is relevant but its also about how it feels from your perspective as an athlete. For example "shooting" like tan Sao doesn't exactly tell you how to do it or what to think, but when you get it right you may feel that. A Lot of stuff will be going on, but only some is useful to know. For example, when was the last time you thought about turning on your cells? it can be interesting, but in order to just do it you need the command.
