Absolutely beautiful pen! I got to handle several Pelikan models recently and I'm definitely feeling the M600 or M800 is probably my grail at this point. I also really appreciate your honesty and transparency about pen purchases. It's just refreshing to see folks talk about it in light of the expense with this hobby.

I have a few pelikans and like you I got my red m800 in B knowing I would have it custom ground to a cursive italic. The brown is so beautiful I am going to put it on my to buy list.

Congratulations on your successful venture. Here's hoping that this remains at the top of your excitement hierarchy. Personally, I would be perspiring the whole time it would be away at a regrind specialist for the upcoming adjustment.
I get that why that would be nerve wracking. My nib grinder is an owner of Pelikans and he has done some great work for me already. My anxiety lies with Canada Post.
My Pelikan M800 brown black is my favorite of all my Pelikans! GORGEOUS
It is definitely my top pen currently!

I have mine yesterday in ef love it, i have the blue black though in (smoother) fine. I see in Japan market they have a real brown black instead of brown brown. I’ll get the red black in April or try the M600 for the first time Glauco Cambon. Then just one more (yeah right) M1000 in green then I’m done. Yes that’s right, I’m really not going to buy the Sailor Pro Gear Tea Time Kissane in MF also. Mark my word. 😂
What a beautiful pen! I just ordered my first Pelikan from Atlas (using your link). They had an awesome deal for Fountain Pen Day on the pre-order of the M600 red/white. Can't wait to get it! Then my husband took me to Reids to get my Christmas present. Lots of money changed hands, but now I have to wait!! Lol!

I am so happy for you that you finally got your brown/black m800! I also got the m400 white tortoiseshell as my fist grail pen, but found it too small. I can now give myself permission to sell that pen in order to get the m800. I am going to wait to see if Pelikan makes an m800 with an ink window!
Pelikan do have an M800 Black with a green ink window...

The Metal Stripes version has an ink window, might not be easy to track one down but they are worth it.@@karenkunz9226

Gratulation for that wonderfull PELIKAN M800!!! I have a small collection of fountain pens! But my favorites are: PELIKAN 100N (from 1949 with a 14k gold n!ib) and a PELIKAN M605 dark blue export version! All PELIKANS have the best produced and polished nibs ... ever!
Ooh what a wonderful collection! I am doing more research into vintage Pelikans to see what is available at pen shows!
That’s the special edition, I’m contemplating to get that color or the blue, fine nib. Just bought 2 pilot elite 95s 14k, I want to have the 18k and bigger pen like the M800. The dreaded pen bug. thanks for the video and happy for you.
The Pelikan 18k nib is a different experience than the Pilot gold nib. Good luck on your fountain pen journey!
@@KarynaLovesToPlan It's me again with my other YT channel (I finally ordered the Black Blue M800 Pelikan Fine nib (arriving 1/26 can't wait) and Leonardo Momento Zero Blue Sorrento (just ordered a few minutes ago) medium nib for my Jan 22 birthday, yey. If I fall in love with the M800 I'll save up to get 3 more this year (the red black and the see thorugh green tester, and lastly maybe the color you got brown black). As far as ink, I like all dark colors. Dark blue, Aurora black ink (blackest black), darkest green, dark brown, darkest red, at least for now. Just got back from a routine hospital check up, and brought my Pilot Elite 95s medium, to fill up the form (ugh, what a joy, is there anymore forms to fill up? 🤣Love your inputs. Thanks again.
Your enthusiasm is infectious. My grail (besides the KoP) is the M1000, which they say is quite different (softer?) than the M800.
I have heard that about the M1000 nib. It is much bigger than the M800 so need to consider that too.

Congratulations!! I have a Sailor I purchased secondhand that is in dire need of a nib tuning that I simply can't give it myself with my current skills. I've been contemplating getting a different grind on it too but USPS has been so unpredictable for me lately and I'd be devestated if I lost my pen that I'm tempted just to take it with me to a pen show whenever I get the opportunity to do so and hope someone will be able to do that for me there. That would be a long way off though, which sucks a bit.
Anyways, congrats on a stunning pen!! I love my four Pelikan m205s and I've been wanting a larger pen (thinking a m600/605) but I can't justify spending so much, especially when I still want to get a custom pen made which is already a big cost for me. Plus I've got a lengthy ink wishlist still and inks always come first for me because it seems silly to buy more pens when I already have so many (I think I have 15). Maybe one day I'll be getting an m600/605...
I can totally understand the hesitation when sending a pen and leaving it in the hands of USPS. I thankfully have not had any pens disappear completely.
And yes this one was definitely an investment, not one to be taken lightly. Good luck with all your new pens in the future!

Mine was an M805 Stresemann, where I also had the Fine nib ground into a stub/italic. So good! I may like your brown m800 a bit more than the Stresemann, actually. Let us know how the grind turns out. :)

Stunning addition, a big congrats! I have a Brown/Black M800 and Anthracite M805 in my shopping carts and can't decide which way to go. I'm thinking I would ink the M805 more often and the brown might be a bit limiting (ie: only brown inks). Decisions, decisions...
I can see the Anthracite working with more inks if you like to match. Side note - I have a shimmery red in my M800 Green Black right now! 😱😂
@@KarynaLovesToPlan You go girl! You've mentioned before that you like to match your inks and pens so that combo must be a bit out of your comfort zone. Since green and red are opposites, they would compliment each other. I try to hold to: "it doesn't have to match, it just has to go".
Karina, sorry to tell you this, Pelikan will launch another brown variance of the M800 series, and will compete for your attention.

I got this same exact pen earlier this year and the M600 red Tortoiseshell love them both to death. Are you ever planning on getting an M1000 or M1005? I have mine inked up right now with Robert Oster Caffe Crema. It fits it perfectly!
I haven't tried an M1000 in my hand - maybe next pen show and we'll see!

Pelikan actually doesn’t make them translucent anymore and according to them it shouldn’t be possible to see the ink inside of the pen anymore…
