Great video and tips. Worked great for me. * 1 issue though -- periodic software updates requires the PC to reboot, which I do from the VPS. After that I'm locked out and cannot access RDC or even get the login screen to appear in putty with root or xrdpuser. Is there a workaround for this?
It works 100%, but on my windows the RDP is very slow? Is there any option to speed this up, i set it to 10MB or higher. But i have to wait seconds to go. Hope there is an option. Is there also an option to connnect form Cortabo with VNC directly to the desktop gnome?

Question: I use a Mac, but I did not want to download and use microsoft RDP to connect to VPS because I thought it required port 3389 to remain open while it's in use. Does changing the ports as you did in this video solve this problem? Or will port 3389 (and 22??) still be open by using Microsoft RDP to connect my mac to the VPS? (apologies if this is a stupid question, I'm a tech noob)

It didn't work for me. I changed the user and set the password, but when I entered: usermod -aG sudo,adm xrdpuser && su xrdpuser, I got the following message: usermod: Permission denied. usermod: cannot lock /etc/passwd; try again later. I don't know why.😢
after rebooting at each step, ,it's the step 10 which makes thing not working. unfortunately it doesn't work either when connecting with port 22 i have error 0x1104 as some others here

The licensing for Window 10 and Windows 11 is quite restrictive and complex. In fact you will probably have noticed even for Windows server i stick to the freely available Evaluation versions, that Microsoft allow you to download freely from their website, and even then only look at deploying them to VPS providers that sell full copies of windows server so you can always upgrade to them if you need to. Plus it ensures that their infrastructure deals fully with windows server. That way I always aim to stay within any licensing complications from BOTH Microsoft and any VPS provider. This is extremely slow if you install this on a d4asv5 vm in azure using their Ubuntu 22 server image. It's pretty much unusable. :/ Wish I knew a way to really speed this up. This vm can run windows server fast.

i got daemons using outdated libraries, i just canceled and after doing everything i sudo reboot but black screen and timeout

Oh, and I combined the instructions from this video with the video about Oracle's free tier
The Oracle vid was ARM Ampare based, this vid is x86 architecture - mixing imsnructions from each may not work.
