such a unique voice, totally underrated. im 57 now but still remember when this was released back in the 80s, not just this song, but the entire album is amazing
My hubby made me a playlist which included this song when he was courting me 28 years ago…he just passed 3 months ago. This song brings me so many memories. He loved me too much, & now I realize how dangerous it was…I will never be loved as much as he loved me 💔❤️🩹
I am so sorry for your loss and his passing. You were together for 28 years and any man who knows what the treasure at the end truly is would look back and consider himself absolutely blessed. Your husband was an extremely fortunate man to have spent his life with you so, once you can begin to see the beautiful memories you shared, hold on to only that. I wish you the best in life.
When I saw her on MTV and jumping on a pogo stick I knew I had to write for her.Her Personna. An underdog aspect warrior,a fighter, and coincidently I met her first husband, gave them a band name TELEVISION,and said"gotta move to NYC".
The crowd doesn't seem to know this song. I'd probably the only one singing along with her if I was there. xD She still got some of her younger voice. Debbie Gibson, for some reason, lost pretty much her voice.
Smyth actually wrote it with Glen Burtnik who has written a good amount of songs for other artists, is a studio musician and played bass for Styx in the early 2000’s. The record company wanted Henley on the single version for obvious airplay appeal.
She should be selling out arenas… one of the best vocalists of all time.
Patty Smyth your amazing

A treasure. This song stabs me in my heart. I’d quit listening to it if wasn’t so brilliant.

LOVE HER- THE BEST!!
Debbie Gibson is still great.. she has still got awesome voice as ever
classic
I know they couldn’t get Don Henley, but since this was recorded as a duet, couldn’t one of the guitarists do his part!
Other than the original recording, she’s always sang the whole thing. And the one guitarist was signing backups but his mic isn’t working.
Exactly jerkoffs lazy cunts .The refrain sounds stronger with back ups lazy shitasses
