- Out of the blue Shimano releases a new Antares DC! Will it address the problem of the old model? Which is its huge, awkward size???

Thanks as always for your reviews, blessings! The 21' is very nice size wise compared to my tank 16'. It's actually palmable/comfortable/lightweight, pics don't do size justice on this reel, I was skeptical. Man the handle is a bummer but thanks for some of your latest vids!!! Be safe 🙏

JapanLureShop just got HG lefty reels in, mines ordered... should have it quickly as usual. Can't wait. My Metanium DC and Antares A are going to get some much needed rest. Don't plan on using anything but the new reel for the first week I get it. Already got some 40lb braid waiting on my table for it.

I held off on getting one because I already have the 17 exsence dc and the 18 Antares monster drive. I fish primarily salt water. I finally pulled the trigger on one and fished with it two weeks ago. I was extremely impressed with the casting range. I started off throwing top water, and then finished off the day throwing lures weighing as little as 1/8 of an ounce. It was casting long and far no problem. Granted I didn’t have the right rod for such light lures but still the reel casted them no problem. I liked it so much that I pre ordered the new exsence dc

ive pre-ordered same hour it was available, I am 3rth in line for Left XG, I personally never think twice on Antares DC, I have them all and I fish with them always even if they are bulkier. You imagine you making 200 cast with no problem regardless of condition, Cast after cast, no backlash no nothing, so this reel is a winner. if I had money I would get 16 of them for all my combos.
Yo hi, I just wanna a ask how is the 21 Antares dc? I’m thinking to get it even though I have the 2016 and 2018 Antares dc, is the 2021 still worth it?
@@turbod4646 yes I have two of them and I really like them, both spooled with tatsu and never have any problems or backlashes. I never change factory setup for spool tention. Buy it, I have 16 and 18 MD as well.
Hmmm...im really hoping they will retain the humongous line guide on the 2021 antares dc. Cant imagine the casting smoothness with that line guide along with mgl 3 spool
I need a few of these, on some NRX rods and Jx8 Braid. Slickest and best braid out there in my opinion and I've fished them all.

Hate to break it to ya but MGL is a braking system and so is DC so it can’t be both

I keep checking back ever so often to see if hes finally bought one and did a review on it. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one 2 months ago but I love thereeltest channels reviews. it was a homerun in my opinion but would love to hear what he has to say about the reel. so hopefully I get that review soon.

It's as smooth as the day I bought it. I've got alot of really nice reels but the 2021 antares dc is in a league of its own. Ive fished it hard since I've had it and it's an amazing reel. I could not imagine anyone being disappointed with the purchase once they get out on the water with it.

Please review this reel. Ive got the 19 antares and the 21 antares and they palm very similar. I dont think you will be disappointed.

Do you need a $200+ rod to fish these reels with? Asking because I have a $90 Abu Garcia vendetta paired with a 2017 shimano scorpion dc 151 HG reel. I love this setup personally but I get a little flak when I fish with from other fisherman.

How do you know what the maximum lure weight you can use on your reel? Ex can you throw a 2oz lure on the Antares DC without causing too much wear on the reel? Thank you!!!

Is there a DC reel with higher line capacity and not too huge. Size wise like a 200 or 300 tranx?
Looking for a nice compact dc that has more line capacity and for bigger baits and fish but not as huge as a tranx 400

what is the lifecycle of the reels? for DC Antares it is 5 years I guess, for other reels - 3?
@@linkylink 3 to 5 years is the general cycle for shimano. But as far as life span, shimano can last a lifetime if cared for correctly
They need to make a Bantam DC seawater proof.
What the benefit if you cast a lure till there are no more line left on the spool? What happen if in that condition a huge fish hook on your lure?
they seem to forget that baitcaster is invented for accuracy.
ALSO HE DIDNT SHOW US IF THE SPOOL WAS FULL OF LINE , AT 130 YARDS OF LINE AT 12 POUND TEST , TO SPOOL IT I DONT THINK SO !

Oh man, get the metanium, it’s a wonderful reel. I have the Antares 19 and it’s crazy heavy, I always choose the metanium unless I need more rigs.

It is certainly a sexy, tempting reel, but times are a little too rough for me to jump in bed with an $800 reel right now. Even for a reckless tackle junkie like myself. Lol

@@emmpak honestly I had an daiwa steez, St. Croix legend and dobyns xtsy rods. Somehow none of them compared to gloomis. I guess I started out gloomis and ill end with gloomis, in a biased manner. I sure love my Antares 70, only downfall is the small spool. I always have to refill it with flouro lines every other month

Been waiting 15 years for this reel and now I might not get it. Can't tell from a single video or picture yet if Shimano has went back to a spool tension knob. I will not spend my money on a top shelf piece of equipment that lacks such a critical feature.
Neither this or the old antares dc lack it. The tension knob is on the inside on the 2016 antares dc. After the first time you shouldnt be messing with the knob with dc reels in the first place just set it to just remove the side to side play...i believe this new one has it on the outside but even if it doesent it will be inside.

@@AnimeNfish Nah, I've been fishing my Calais DC for 15 years. And all 3 sizes of the original Calcutta dc's. The spool tension knob AND easy access to it is critical.
You might fish one size lure all day, but I'll switch from a 4 gram lure to a 10+gram and back constantly.
I found its unecessary to have a tension knob on the 2016 antares, it merely there to maximize side to side spool play, same reason daiwa made the zero adjuster, no need to adjust spool tension for each lure anymore, the breaking system alone was sufficient enough. Its not for finesse or super heavy baits so the extra spool tension is negligible. Also the new 2021 antares is amazing casts the same as the 2016 but palms like a curado 70, i can bomb 1/4 ned rigs and weightless flukes

It's a speculation to how far engineering and how far reel technology has come. These reels can last decades look at the past antares. Price is justifiable
I do still get where you coming from they could definitely bump down the price by a couple hundred.
That reel was not designed for the average angler's wallet... I'm not spending $700 on that reel, besides there's plenty of good reels at the $200+ range.
