    Hi! Do you think volunteering in a dental clinic or animal shelter once a week for two months would be okay? I'm having a hard time finding other opportunities and I'm worried these aren't "medical" enough. (Two months before the application deadline but obviously I would continue till the interview date if I got one)

      yeah something like that sounds perfect!! it would definitely teach you many skills that are transferable to medicine!!

    Do you know what type of work experience I could do at 15 years old. Most work experiences are mostly available for 16 years old and above.

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I think the policy varies between places because I did my GP work exp when I was 15. I’d recommend trying care homes because they’re usually very open to volunteers no matter their age :)

      @@LifeofShaan what did you do in your gp work experience? I wanna do that but it seems awkward i have zero clue what the work experience there actually entails

    Really nice video!
    Is doing voluntary work for 3 months multiple times a week considered long term work experience ? It's not that I don't want to continue it I just can't.
    Hope you get into medicine?

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! Realistically it's more about what your able to learn from your voluntary work that universities care about. A person could do volunteering for 2 years and not learn anything, another person could do 3 months but take on a more active role and learn a lot! Just do your best!!

      during the holidays!

      @@LifeofShaan Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be possible to do it during the term, but on the weekends or after school. Also, do you think it's too late to start preparing for the UCAT. I've only just decided I want to study medicine at university and I feel that I may have left everything a bit too late...

      @@abdullahdelab1075 yes definitely! any form of work experience will be very beneficial! and it’s definitely not too late to start prepping for the ucat! with a lot of practice you can still do really well even if you haven’t had long to revise! good luck 😁

    Hi Shaan, in your video you mentioned maybe emailing different med schools and asking if you can attend a lecture of their’s. Which email address would you recommend using for that (general med school, admissions, or something else)?

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      probably try the medical department of the university as they may know best how to organise it !

    hi shaan, im wanting to do nursing in university and for 2 full weeks i have rang up care homes and hospitals in my area and other areas but they are not able to provide me any. I applied to voluntary work experience in a charity shop for 4 days a week set to 3-4 month but i'm abit worried if university are able to accept it.

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charity shop work can definitely benefit your application as it shows you have good communication skills and commitment. Keep trying with carehomes etc. but in the mean time you could always organise some stuff individually. For example you could raise money by running a half marathon for a cause your passionate about and that would look fantastic on a university application!

      Just posted a video where I go into to detail about how I prepared for the UCAT so that may be of use to you :)) For the BMAT all I used was this website called BMAT ninja and the official BMAT guide for section 2 (its a free ebook made by the BMAT people)

    How did you balance doing work experience whilst studying for sixth form

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      try and stay super organised!! use any study periods you get during school to do school work and that way you can easily fit the work experience into your schedule. Also if you are planning on doing whole days of work experience I would recommend doing them during half term holidays etc .

    I am nearly 16 and trying t find work medical experience. How early do you think is too early to find medical work experience?

    • @ismabilal7521
      @ismabilal7521 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it depends in your area though, but like care homes or work experience in hospital can be good to start of, but this pandemic is so stressing that so many care homes are still not allowing work experience if though its past 21st of june. You can wait for shaan to reply to you and see what he says..

    • @LifeofShaan
      @LifeofShaan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      16 is a good age to start!! The earlier the better as it often takes a while to organise! Even a part time job could be a good form of work experience!
