In the book, Vito was satisfied with Roberto conceding the dog can stay and keeping the rent at current rate.
Here, the cold, "No, you need to do better than that, after all this" look (1:21) is just so much more indicative of the stern nature Vito is already adopting.
Neither the book nor the movie describe Roberto's inquiries around the neighborhood, but they would have been really fun to see. "Uh, this guy murdered Fanuci for pushing him around, dude..."

Presumably you've seen the Sopranos.... it reminds me of the scene between Tony and Ralph after Pie-O-My wins.... Ralph has a wad of cash and gives some to Tony which is probably enough but his hand just stays open and Ralph counts out more and more until eventually just gives him the whole wad..... not exactly the same because Tony probably does want more but just reminds me because his stone face just makes him give up more and more.

You can kind of see in this scene the difference between Michael and Vito, and why Michael failed where Vito succeeded.
Michael is just as cold and calculating as his father, but he lacks the humility and empathy that his father has. Michael doesn't inspire love and admiration in people as Godfather, all he does is inspire fear. So as that fear subsides or another fear comes around, people are willing to betray him, way too easily, so he has to go back to intimidation to get them back in line. Whereas, with Vito, whether it's here or with Bonasera, he always tries to reason and empathize with people, even showing them respect, when they've initially disrespected him.
It's funny in Cuba, before he realizes that Fredo betrayed him, he and Fredo are just talking about life and things, and Fredo says, "Why didn't we do this earlier" or something like that. Almost like Fredo wished he and Michael had just talked and bonded together like brothers, rather than him just taking orders from him. You realize that if Fredo had that relationship with Michael, there would never had been an opening available for Roth to get to him.
Michael's inability to inspire love, ultimately costs him his family: it's why his brother betrays him, it's also why Kay does the same. Stoicism and discipline work in the military and are required to maintain order, but a family is bonded by love, empathy and kindness, something Michael always struggled with, even when he was dating Kay. You see it in that scene in the first movie, where it's clear that Kay is clearly head over heels in love with him, and he doesn't even say it back, until years later when Apollonia is dead, and he's ghosted her for a long time.

It’s easy to correct an error....
Before it turns into a mistake.
    People don’t intentionally make mistakes.
It’s a combination of a error and a accident with cognitive dissonance added to the unknown circumstances...
Proper response with respect canceling out the ignorance of being ignorant and with proper future gratitude and good will everyone goes on to pursue happiness.

Young Men! This is what a true Sigma male is all about. This is REAL masculinity.
Don Vito did not need to muscle the guy
Don Vito did not need to flex all his bling
Don Vito did not need to declare himself as a "High Value Man"
Don Vito did not need to be an asshole
Don Vito did not need to intimidate or even raise his voice
All he needed to do was talk like a gentleman, and tell the landlord to ask around about him.
Even though the undertaker cussed him and threatened to kick his ass, Don Vito did not need to be pissed
Because he knows all he needs to do is LET HIS REPUTATION PRECEED HIM AND DO THE REST
Then, he gets what he wants out of this and so much more.
That's how a man gets shit done. Confidence is silent, insecurity is loud.
