My boyfriend is Ugandan and he said this was his favourite food, Rolex and chapati but I was confused because I was thinking about the rolex watch 😆 I’m glad I found your video to help me 😇
Chapatis..... Flour, salt (to taste), oil, warm water. 1) Put sifted all purpose flour in a bowl. Add a little salt to taste (I like fresh ground pink Himalayan salt) and stir around to distribute. 2) Add about 1/4 cup of light colored cooking oil such as canola or vegetable or soy that you might use for frying (good quality ghee is a delicious option). Mix together until the oil/fat is evenly distributed. Add a little more oil if you like, but 1/4 cup should be enough. 3) Take a small cup of slightly warm water and add equal to the oil, mix the ingredients together. If it is not even and there is still much residue of flour, add more water in small amounts and mix until it is coming together. You can use your hands to knead at this point. The dough will be finished when it is smooth and bounces back a little when you press it with your fingers. 4) spread a large rolling area or cutting board with a light dusting of flour. Knead your dough once more. Roll out your dough into a very wide oval shape using a rolling pin. Roll up the edges of the dough until you can form it into a long and even shape like a cylendar. 5) cut your dough into equal sections and push the ends down into a shallow mound (the layers will show in the shape). Set each peace aside and preheat a flat pan (comal or other flatbread pan). Roll your smaller mounds of dough into thin and flat round patties. 6) to fry you put the chapati down on a dry but hot pan to allow the color to turn white. Flip the chapati to do the same on the other side and add oil underneath to brown the chapati. The dough may raise up with air pockets while cooking. Do this on both sides repeatedly until the white cooked bread takes on a more golden brown color and wet reflective surface from the oil. Set your chapati on a plate to cool.
@roxannerodriguez7075 Both are bread and water with no leaven. The technique of making them is very different as tortillas are not flaky but denser. Taste wise they both have save flavor profiles and it's the ingredients that make them taste better.
As a Ugandan, I can't believe I'm learning this. Thank you for the recipe.
niceeee 😀😀😀. glad u liked the recipe Ken 👍🏿👍🏿

For thoz not eating eggs, what i i replace with
so sorry Linet.. but this requires eggs 🙏🏿
Authentic definitely needs eggs. But for health/vegan choices you could try tofu or bean paste, something that will have protein in it.
Where is the salt in the egg😢....
I love your cooking though 😋
i did add salt when i was prepping the egg dear at 02:34... thanks though for watching and loving it 👍👍
yummy
😋😋😋😋😋
Perhaps rolex is a distortion of the expression roll-eggs.😂
😂😂😂😂.. btw 😃😃 that might be true 👌🏿
What are the ingiedients to make the chappati itself please
Chapatis..... Flour, salt (to taste), oil, warm water.
1) Put sifted all purpose flour in a bowl. Add a little salt to taste (I like fresh ground pink Himalayan salt) and stir around to distribute.

Set your chapati on a plate to cool.

Now that we are here, what does Banbi mean in Uganda? Please help me 🙏🏾. Thank you.
@@kap849 bambi means please (bambi can't stand alone you must add nyamba which means help me) means 'please help me'
Watching this with only 1 egg😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Chapati doesn't really taste like tortilla... chapati is more delicious coz it has spices in it
❤Njomnjomnjom❤
❤❤❤
Just enjoy the tomatoes fresh without flying them together with eggs
alright dear 👍🏿👍🏿
The chapati looks like a tortilla to me. Does it taste anything like a tortilla?
No not really, it's thicker and more chewy. It's amazing.
That's its English name

No it tastes better
@@florenceakia2004 It's a completely different thing even if they look the same.
