I say at this point, try to take the remaining assets of the track, and ship them to Irwindale Speedway. I feel that Irwindale had tremendous potential, and the opportunity is there for the track to become NASCAR and Southern California's premier racing destination.
It’s a shame too. They’re basically taking away the speedway and turning it into a Frankenstein monster short track combining Martinsville and Bristol. Like how and why? At least I saw a race there before it closed.
Yea, I don't know. The newly graded pad for Bldg 1 looks really close to the end of pit road. Im not sure this track will ever be built. Plus, the amount of noise that will bounce off of those tilt up buildings will drive the residents crazy!
I don't think the drivers would be to found of that. The three plate tracks they have now is enough those races are nerve wrecking . Don't get me wrong I enjoy them but we need a schedule broken into thirds one would be short tracks the other third the boring mile and half's and then road courses. Then you keep the same plate races. Those plate races I feel like they're playing with fire . Just my dumb opinion.
Note the grandstands' ends: they have been sliced very precisely; if they ever do build a short track, they've apparently left the entire grandstand intact. Will they? Rumors of a San Diego street race popped up briefly. Hard to believe that they will abandon the southern California market. I went to the last race at Ontario, but hope I didn't attend the last race at Fontana!
if the track is complete and ready to bring back racing to this track, they should honor Greg Moore name on the Garage or Paddock Suite. The Greg Moore Garage or The Greg Moore Paddock
Thanks for the video. I drove by there about a month ago and saw that everything was being torn up. I had no idea that it had been shut down.
Lots of memories there with my family
Great track. Lots of great NASCAR and Open Wheel races there.
Rest in Peace... Greg Moore
i was there
The next gen car fitted so well with this track also gen 6
Should have made it the west coast version of Talladega
Good music choice for a construction video shot in Fontana

I used to love all the exotic cars driving up and down cherry ave

It's weird to see a stadium abandoned, but not really abandoned.
What people don’t realize is that there was a dragstrip there and the masses of riverside and San Diego County used to race there
Bring back the drag strip. Forget Nascar. Real car guys need it!
Hi Cody, comment not directed to you. Just a drag racer venting and hoping to get our drag strip back😊
Why did they close this track down?
Are they still planning on building a short track there?
Yes , I live down the street from the track and have talked to the con. crew. they have plans for a short track.
Kind of sad. Good racing was here.
I agree with you . Nascar is dying.
@@liogonzalez8813that’s why I moved to IndyCar. And I never looked back
@@liogonzalez8813nascar just had a great race at Iowa, and it’s not nascars fault they don’t own autoclub.

John, this is best . catch ya later-🤓
they should build a new speedway like from the Pixar movie Cars of LA international speedway.
That was loosely based on the colosseum which, ironically enough, hosts nascar races now.
This track could be bigger than Talladega if they use there right

California had one chance they would never allow anther superspeedway unless maybe electric cars!
Fontana…the place where Sammy Hagar grew up.
What a pathetic shame.... NASCAR is a complete JOKE !
Why are they demolishing it
