Yes, I agree that RAW is Not Law! Steaming Potatoes for dinner is what took me to the next level. Raw till 4:44pm but then I combine steam & Raw for dinner. No oil!
I do this too
What do you mean with "it took you to the next level"? Which benefits have you experienced yourself?
Why not just boil potatoes?
I love how you are continually growing and stretching on your healing journey and sharing what you learn and discover along the way. Keep being you. I love hearing your take on it all. 👍🥰

Amazing video topic!!! This is something that no body talks about in the raw community and i think its a very important conversation to have. Bravo for daring to challenge the status quo. Steaming potatoes has been proven to be the cooking method that raises blood sugar levels the least. Nobody doubts the power of Raw , but even hippocrates institute says healthy people need only 80 percent raw, the rest can be cooked and definitely steamed is the best cooked option. Thats what Joel Furmam has been saying for years and outlines very clearly in his book “Eat to Live”
Not all enzymes stop working on 40C. Depending on the plant some actually activate and work better at 50C-60C. It is a new level in healthy food , when gently cooked at these temperatures food is already half digested by its own enzymes when you eat it , therefore making the most of nutrient intake and energy saving.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve just researched this and surprised to find that it’s indeed true. Very interesting that raw vegan influencers don’t seem to know about this fact. John, could you do an in-depth video on this?
Hi Jon, great show i believe what you do , yea eat your greens , fruits nuts seed and good starches 😊 i luv to make vegan food 🥑🥝❤🎉🎉🌲🌲🌲🧚🕊️📸❣️👍
Hey, thanks John for your passion on this topic man, it’s also very useful to see those publish studies
Thank you, John! I just got a pressure cooker that steams in order to incorporate more vegetables.
Not too long at all much appreciation you make it very easy to understand thank you very much
❤thank U Love U ❤❤haven't seen your videos in over a year... and u showed up today!❤🎉😅stay blessed 🙌 and healthy 🙏 ✨
😅😂🤣💦 in time your friend might also include cooked foods 🤷🏽♂️ but yes i do feel cooked foods can be addictive, we only know that when we try to go all raw for life 🙃😁
you, your friend and all of us that listen to your information are doing great, enjoy our journey in life.
Hi Jon. I've been following you for many years. Thank you for your informative videos over the years.😊☺️🥰
I started adding 2-3 min steamed greens to raw diet after reading about them in Renee Louz Underkofflers high raw book. Feeling so much better on them and modern influencers are overusing dehydrators to make food like cooked. Let it go and choose simple, steamed instead!
Thank you! I love my Instant Pot.
Thanks so much ❤ very valuable !!
Thank you for your good information :)
great stuff !!
Thank you John
Could you add freeze dried and pressure cooked to this table? This is awesome.
in the future I will have more videos on freeze drying. The best honestly would be to add the SAME freeze dried food with your steamed AND fresh food and Juices! together and eat it, you will get the benefits of each of the three methods!
I garden so I low temp dehydrate all my fruits and vegetables then when I’m ready to eat, I steam some them and I cook some low and slow.
You said at medium but how do you do it in pressure cooker? U have any specific type please?
Informative Thanks. I drink smoothies at breakfast boil vegetables soup then make lentils, quinoa, brown rice, w the stock. Microwave my sweet potatoes 🥔 juice on my day off when i have time. Salads and fruit frozen and fresh farmers market is back open again yeah. Its sustainable but i dont have the time or resources to grow my own at this time . But i do look and feel 100% better since cutting out cheese 🧀 hallelujah. ❤
instant pot 0-1 minute steam. This gently breaks cell walls. Keeping warm for 15-20 minutes depending on the vegetable will gently break it down further and naturally release pressure.
Juicing kale is better than eating it for sure
Do you have a steamer you like. The tiered one you have in thumbnail is plastic, does that matter. Or do you steam on the stove top????
I steam in the instant pot only. See www.amazon.com/shop/JohnKohler for the models I recommend.
polyphenols are important for cancer prevention and treatment
Is there a way you could filter out oxygen while dehydrating?
No. He does recommend freeze drying over dehydrating. But freeze dryers are more expensive, though sometimes payment plans are offered. The freeze dryer he recommends is Stay Fresh, not others like Harvest Right. He has a video explaining why he chooses Stay Fresh brand.
In commercial industry there are vacuum dehydrators, but I have never seen a home model. That being said, freeze drying is a technology that is available now, and is a significant improvement over dehydration. If vacuum dehydrators do come available, I am confident freeze drying will still create a higher quality end product.
You took more than 25 years to understand it? I hope that you won't take many more years to realize that you can gently cook other foods. There are no sientfic evidences that rew is always better.
