Fabric glue might be a better way to go. Id think it would be a stronger, more permanent bond, and you can buy it in aerosol cans and spray it on in a much more even coat. Ive never made cloth boots before, but I know different glues function differently in relation to each other and the project at hand. It just seems logical to me. Btw, those boots are really cool. Im not trying to shoot down your work or anything, I was just making a suggestion that you might like to try next time you do this, so you can see for yourself if it makes it any easier for you in the production process or not. They have all kinds of glues at the hardware store, but Im thinking of a red aerosol canister (like spray paint) with a black lid. I think the name of the brand is 3m if Im not mistaken. That stuff works ok I think, but its up to you and your preference... I just feel like hot glue probably isnt a strong enough bond to make your hard work last.
These boots are ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥! I agree.... I haven't had much luck with hot glue holding up on shoes while walking, etc. I have had great results with Beacon Adhesives/Fabri-Tac on clothing, and it lasts through wash cycles. For a project like this, I would use E6000, or another clear, flexible, permanent, weather proof adhesive, along with pins, clips, or a dab of hot glue to hold the fabric in place while it dries.
You did an awesome job. I did a pair last year and I used fabric glue and mod podge and they are still holding up looking good. I brought a pair of kids jeans from the thrift store and used the back pockets to add to the side. Once again awesome job.
I see that this is an old video.....however I am just now seeing it...and I have to say that these are the most creative, stylish, awesome looking pair of boots I have ever seen. I would rock these every day if I could get away with it. I can't understand how boots like this aren't being sold in the malls....and shoe stores.....I mean sewn together for a better security purpose of course but your idea is on point......LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost had a heart attack when she first started gluing the denim over the suede! However, well doe. I have never seen denim boots because I live where we get sometimes 4 feet of snow in a day! So yeah, no denim boots in the stores. I am going to make myself some and I thank you for the inspiration! Very cool indeed. Happy Yule to you! I'm going to use spray adhesive though and gorilla glue on the seams and soles.
thought they were going to be a fail but turned out fab. I love embroidery and have a pair of faux black heel booties that are cracking . looks like I need a pair of denim boots for my chambre dress I am making me for spring/summer. thanks for showing how easy I can do it. now to track a pair of jeans for the raggy look that looks good. I remember a day when peol le wanted to go from rags to riches .....well now the rich (and not so rich) like the raggy style of life.
this is the BEST diy on denim boots .... FR im about to grab my old boots and jeans and a hot glue now right NOW =]=]=] lol thanks so much for this video !!!
AWESOME job..... your video is what I have been searching for....trying to figure out how to turn my ankle boots into a jeans thigh high boot... Thanks so much. I will subscribe!!
New subbie because of this awesome video! I just wish I could have seen how you did the back of the heel better. Did you fold it while you're hand was inside then glue it?
How long do boots like that last? Did you measure your leg to determine the circumference? Do you ever sew the fabric together? They look very cool, I am just fearful that they will fall apart when I walk down the street. Like a glued on weave track hanging off the back of your head. LOL. You have a great eye for fashion.
Octavia Ivy I'm sure she just glued the mcheck out of them to prevent that problem and I'm sure she put the jeans on and did some measuring or whateva to make them fit perfectly
omg 😍 i love it i have these pair of black boots that will never use and these riped denim pants that will never fit me again i know what my new project will be ❤
Yesssss!!! Love your creativity!!! I'd definitely buy those if I were out shopping!! They look sooo good!!!! Thank you for sharing and I'm going to need you to start selling these LOL!!! You got me wanting to denim my pumps, wedges and all now!!!
Darlene Lark if there's a zipper, you unzip the back or side before extending them to the top. You extend the boots up and around. It pretty much takes technique and patience. And if your boots don't have a zipper it's a much easier process. I show how to complete process in the video.
I don't see why this would get 69 dislikes. I think they are very beautiful and unique. I've never seen boots like those in my life. I'm most definitely going to make my own. Subscribed.
Really cute... but one question. Why a over the knee boot? You could have used a stiletto heel I stead of cutting those awesome over the knee boots. Just a question.
TherealAutomatic Appeal thick denim pants. I would suggest going to Wal-Mart or a thrift store because most of their jeans are made with thick denim and it's inexpensive for a project like this.
Roxy Foxy! Happy New 2019 Year!🎆🎊🎉💎 OMG! What did I just watch? My goodness girl, I just stumbled on your channel, watched this video and I'm speechless!! Those cute, black ankle boots were transformed into a pair of one-of-a-kind sexy blue denim knee length fantasy!! Man oh man, your skillzzz rock!!! The musical beats had me smiling & bobbing my head all through you working your magic!! I just subbed to your channel and am looking for your other previous creations as well as your future ones. Thank you and God Bless you and your channel. 🙏💞👆
these are great! you did excellent. shoe glue or fabric tac would be better. it will hold much longer and be more flexible so it won't get brittle and crack.
Cyndel2006 thanks! they've actually been holding up well because of how strong the hot glue is. I do agree shoe glue would be good but I'm iffy about fabric glue do to past projects with it.
Five years later and these are still amazingly awesome!
Wow just WOW!!! I think this is thee BEST diy/upcycle/recycle video I have ever seen!!!! Nice job, super creative & CUTE!!!! TFS!!
Denim will never go out of style
Pro Tip: If you want the top extended part of the denim to stand up on it's own, Starch it heavy with an iron before you add it to the top area.
thanks

You can literally mess up and still come out with a banging jean boot! So beginner friendly
These are the cutest diy denim boots I've found so far! thank you! I'm adding pearls and lace to mine w.a lacey flower at the ankle.
You did an awesome job. I did a pair last year and I used fabric glue and mod podge and they are still holding up looking good. I brought a pair of kids jeans from the thrift store and used the back pockets to add to the side. Once again awesome job.

You worked this idea!! You had me thinking about how many ways I could create these for this season!! Shalom.
Grammi Z thank you very much!!!!
loved your work.. you were very neat and precise. making sure it didn't look home made yet custom..
Super cool. love denim but you didn't show us how to determine the width of the calf. Did you measure your own calf?

🌈🦋Excellent! Just one question did you use the special fabric glue glue sticks or just ordinary low melt glue sticks? You’re very talented💝🙂!
very cute....does the glue hold durability well??
How long do boots like that last? Did you measure your leg to determine the circumference? Do you ever sew the fabric together? They look very cool, I am just fearful that they will fall apart when I walk down the street. Like a glued on weave track hanging off the back of your head. LOL. You have a great eye for fashion.
Octavia Ivy Lmmfao
Octavia Ivy I can't stop laughing.....I'm literally laughing out loud in tears
😂😂😂😂😂
Octavia Ivy I'm sure she just glued the mcheck out of them to prevent that problem and I'm sure she put the jeans on and did some measuring or whateva to make them fit perfectly

So fancy... I love it! You're really talented! 😍
you did a great job. but if my boots are ankle how do I take them higher and how would I be able to put them on?
Darlene Lark if there's a zipper, you unzip the back or side before extending them to the top. You extend the boots up and around. It pretty much takes technique and patience. And if your boots don't have a zipper it's a much easier process. I show how to complete process in the video.
Darlene Lark skip to 6:55
Darlene Lark and don't forget to measure the circumference of your calf muscle.

Yo! You did that!! That was pretty hot! Do the glue stick hold pretty good? I would hate to be somewhere and my boots fall apart. Great job!!
I absolutely love this. Amazing idea 💡. I have to try this. Thanks for this tutorial.
Really cute... but one question. Why a over the knee boot? You could have used a stiletto heel I stead of cutting those awesome over the knee boots. Just a question.
Kelli Harris these weren't over the knee boots, they were ankle boots, that I extended with denim to make them calf boots.
As long as stuff don’t start falling apart beautiful
I’m thinking E 6000 fabric glue like the designers use..
G' own girl, with your bad self! They look good. I was just looking for some on ebay a couple of days ago. Does the fabric stick well?
looks amazing. would be cool as flat overknee boots too. 💙

TherealAutomatic Appeal thick denim pants. I would suggest going to Wal-Mart or a thrift store because most of their jeans are made with thick denim and it's inexpensive for a project like this.
