Good comp. These boats are real close even in weight. The Alli is alot easier to hold on to. Especially in slight rough water. I grew up with both of them and still prefer a v over tunnel. I know they aint as fast but your girlfriend can do 120 in an stv.
@emeraldjewel26 The Hydrostream Viper is a Sport J boat,so you need a Mercury 1500 XS with the low water pickups and short shaft. If you have enough money the ultimate engine for your boat is a T2X with a Super Speedmaster lower unit(gearcase). The T2X is direct drive though,so you would have no reverse or neutral.
I got a hydrostream viper as a project it is just a hull & trailer - so far ithas a new composite floor & transom / what you recomend for outboard & do i need a jack plate ?
I didn’t say boat I said “Canoe”. Around here you can’t look at a used Allison for less than $25,000. Where Hydrostreams, Checkmates, STV’s, and likes are moderately priced starting around $6,000.
I never said they weren’t worth their high sticker price. I said they were over priced compared to... Its not so much the hull as it is the motor sitting on the jack plate. And if it’s been tuned by someone who knows what they’re doing.
Looks like the wonderful Hydrostream beat him. What great boats they are and always will be!! Long live Howard and his beloved V bottoms.
Both boats doin the BootSkoot Boogie🔥👍👍
That’s a Allison bass boat that weighs WAYYY more that that HydroStream but I do love HydroStreams. That’s just not a fair race.
Good race! 2 beautiful boats!

Who is this Mr. Jack Plate that you speak of?
@lastovins it did get him, nice run though!!
hydrostream for the win
@emeraldjewel26 If you're not going to use a jack plate I would go no higher then 200 ish. If you wanna go bigger and faster then buy a jack plate.
Put a big block omc or Yamaha the Allison wouldn't hv a chance
i think the viper got him
Its a V king
Its a V king, not a Viper !!
Looks like the manatee mauler got beat right there....or it was very very close.
The Hydrostream smoked that high dollar canoe. No really so much the boat as it is the motor.
High dollar boat is a basser, with livewells, compartment storage, and wins everywhere else except short acceleration.

@@haskell71 you know why Allison are soooo expensive, because there worth it!!!!!
