I used elastics for years and they were great but I noticed they created crease and somewhat damaged hair by creating damge, tangles, and pulling a bit of hair out. I switched over to invisibobbles (the plastic coiling ring type) on the recommendation of my mom and it has really helped my hair growth and strength. I love em.
Does this mean you’re retiring the headband? Coz I can tell you from experience, if you’re not used to having your hair tight back for all the waking hours, it can get uncomfortable. You’re rockin’ the tail, just let it rest occasionally and you’ll avoid the headaches.

I've found it interesting, whether you've rocked a headband or male bun, how good you look with your hair pulled off your face. You're a handsome guy. But once your hair is off your face it's been more obvious to me how great your smile is, pretty your eyes are, and what a strong jaw line you have. Plus as a girl with long hair, I know how much you will appreciate having your hair pulled back for gymnastics. BTW blond hair elastics exist for when you need to look professional. When I was younger, I rocked the manbun/ponytail because it made it cooler in my racing helmet because I wanted long hair, but a full head was horrible when it was full of sweat. You do look fairly decent with it though it does need another month or two and you'll be golden!

I think you should have any hair style you like, BUT it should always be done well and the barber didn't do a good job. It's not evenly cut, some parts are longer than others.
I like it, but all that matters is if you like it! For those of us who don't have autoimmune conditions resulting in hair loss, or hair loss from chemo, remember- it grows back! No need to panic over a bad cut it style, it won't last forever.
I have always like long hair on men but I grew up in the 60s & 70s so there's. The man bun will look great once it grows out. What you've got going on right now we like to refer to as a twat knot. It will get there and it will look great.

As someone who had long hair for 15 years that was tied up in a ponytail all the time my advice to you is to be aware that it will pull on your scalp and cause your hair line (fringe) to slowly move backwards (receded hairline). Well that’s my excuse for my hairline fu@king off, lol 😂
Traction alopecia is a thing, but you have to have your hair pulled back very tightly for a very long time. If your ponytail isn’t super tight, you won’t have hairline issues.
