Salaam Dr Omar, my young son has been having tonic-clonic seizures monthly. I didn’t want to medicate right away so I tried blackseed oil mixed with castor oil on the soles of his feet and his seizures were greatly reduced so he went 4 months without a seizure. I have decided to carry on with the oils as well as keeping him hydrated and cool and getting enough sleep.

How old is your son? My son (16 years old) started to have those seizures too. He is on Lacosamide and they want us to try Epidiolex. I already have him on 3 different cannabis oils ( to help him with behaviors, he is nonverbal and autistic) and the oils have helped him tremendously, thank God. His neurological knows he takes cannabis.

Right!! Developed epilepsy after a febrile seizure the night after I got a few vaccines when I was 5, my mother always knew that’s what caused it *she died in 2018
But every doctor I ever went to said in one way or another
“oh that’s just a febrile seizure and has nothing to do with epilepsy”
I only knew for sure after another one of Dr.Danoun’s videos I seen where he said that those febrile seizures at such a young age could cause scarring to the brain, resulting in epilepsy.
Most honest doctor I’ve ever seen. Much appreciated… 16 now and still having seizures but praying neuroplastisity has some effect on me in the next few years

I've only had one clonic tonic (thankfully) I have focal seizures mainly the clonic tonic started out focal then generalized. What I find strange is once I went back to my "fresh organic" diet of pasta, eggs baked chicken and fish, the seizures calmed down meaning weakier..... but they never went away, I'm not sure y mine started when I was 24 😕 I find it odd when I have seizures they are "fake memories" and fear triggered by music or lights. That was NEVER a issue before

Gabatablets or valeriana is great!! Gaba is often low when you get seizures. Ketogenic diet is good because it lowers glutamate in the brain. The balance between gaba and glutamate is important. Gaba makes us relax

The ketogenic diet is one of the oldest methods of controlling seizures, it was used in the 1920s for controlling seizures in children and it was very successful but the diet may not suit everyone so consult with your doctor first.

Good morning Doctor. I'm in South Africa. I am currently using Tegretol 400mg 2x daily plus Rivotril 2mg 2x daily and have been on this medication since 2003. I had my last grand mal seizure in 2012, but recently, since 2021, began to have petit mall seizures once every 5 months. It is getting worse. I have a medical aid (Discovery). There are currently no neurologists close to where I live and I last saw a neurologist in 2011. If my medical aid will cover your cost and you can help me here in South Africa (I live about 2 hours drive from Johannesburg) I would be extremely thankful. And thank you so much for the advice! I take all the vitamins you mentioned, except Folic Acid. I'm definitely going to buy a good brand of Folic Acid today. I have tried CBD, the pure ones, but it had a shock effect on me, I had an Anxiety attack once the CBD was out of my bloodstream. I was diagnosed at age 15 with Frontal Lobe Epilepsy that is triggered by stress. Also found out photo sensitivity plays a role, and stress more in the sense of Adrenalin. If you can reply to this comment to let me know if you can help me, I will appreciate it very, very much.

I just started a women’s prenatal multivitamin. I’ve been very, very fatigued lately w/ brain fog and despite being on 600mg Lamictal daily, I’m starting to have occasional breakthrough focal aware seizures. Also struggling with hair loss which I understand is a side effect… Trying to focus more on my overall health and reduce stress. I made sure it has folic acid, D, and B-vitamins. I was diagnosed with PNES 3 years ago and mine are caused by complex PTSD and severe trauma. I had an abusive childhood an traumatic experiences like physical abuse, rape and molestation by 10 abusers) I suppressed the memories then got them back through nightmares/night terrors in my highschool years, still never had any major injuries or seizures up till this point in my life but a experience at 19 confronting the rapist who traumatized/affected me most caused a massive trigger and my seizures started. Therapy and weed are the only treatments that work for me and when in the first year they were every other day between 5-10 a day but now 3 years later they are only 1-3 times a day and I get them only once up to 3 times a week and sometimes have long periods of a week or week and a half seizure free now. Im not sure if vitamins could help with my issues💜SeizureWarrior💜

Dr Omar, how can I find out if I am positive with Catamenial Epilepsy? I suffer from seizures since 1997 and was controlled for years with different meds until my body started getting affected bad then changed to Lamictal which worked good for years as well. I stopped taking meds at all since 2014 when my kidneys and joints were extremely affected so I have been living almost a decade with a monthly episode of seizures. My tubes have been removed but no positive changes after almost a year. Years ago my neurologist said he couldn’t find anything wrong with my brain after a couple of EEG’s I just would like to know what doctor treats Catamenial epilepsy to have a test done, Thank for your time

    Hi,
I was diagnosed with epilepsy a year ago. I have a lot of seizures, and sometimes I end up really injured. One of my injuries was a broken foot that required surgery. I was just wondering if it is normal to be in a constant state of anxiety. I’m really struggling to live with this because I’m always so anxious about having a seizure. I constantly feel sick, and I don’t know anyone else to talk to. I have told my neurologist about this, and he said it will get better once my medication is sorted. I’m currently changing medications. I’m scared to leave my home and travel alone; it’s horrible. I absolutely hate it, and I feel it’s destroyed my life.

GABA Gummies actually caused my recent seizures. So did Valerian Root. I assumed they were safe because my anti seizure medications work on the GABA receptors and from what I understand, Depakote was derived from Valerian. I can take anti seizure medication but the 2 natural supplements, GABA and Valerian Root cause my seizures. Very bad ones requiring the ambulance to be called. 😢 I was trying to help my anxiety and panic attacks. Apparently, the only OTC thing I can take for my anxiety is Magnesium Glycinate. 🤷‍♀️ Please, be careful with these so called safe supplements. 😔🙏💗💖💗💖

I also have ep. I take potassium, magnesium too, GABA, Omega 3 Forte. and B vitamins.
Magnesium is very good. There is also research about pickle juice being able to help. BUT it is very important to take a blood test. I took my minerals and vitamins in the morning.
(Even the evening) After a couple of hours I took my ep. medicine. (12 hours between) Test at the hospital,.."Blood value/medicine" should be between 10-60, say my doctors in Sweden. My was 90! Without side effect. My doctor, don't believe in supplements. Even though they got an answer that it was 90! Medicine strength increases a lot when you take certain minerals and vitamins is my experience. Did you take a blood test?
      😔😥❤💔🇸🇪
      Take care.

Dr Danoun I have absent generalized seizures. I started having my seizures when I was 17 years old. They started when my seizure when my menstrual period started. Can my menstrual period started my seizures? I take Keppra valproare 7.5ml. Can taking Keppra cause me to be violent? I was told I get violent sometimes when I have a seizure. I have a aura when I feel like I'm about to have a seizure. My aura are when my hands shake. My heart will start beating fast. My legs start jumping. I feel like deja view. I can stop my seizures when I lay down and plug my ears and cover my eyes and make sure I don't hear anything. And I has to be dark in my room. I will lay down or take a nap. Then when I wake up I feel fine. I had a seizure surgery. I have a vegal nerve stimulator. It's not help me get my seizures under control. Or my meds
I read where vitamins would help me. Vitamins D 500-2000iu, Folic Acid 1-4mg,Vitamin D6 pyridoxine,Omega 3 fish oil, CBD oil, my diet, magnesium deficiency 300-310 for me do you think vitamins will help me?
