- Sound sample of this Indian made hofner copy. Not a hofner.
I never found much content on them, so I wanted to share this.
These are uncommon in the US. But there’s a company in India that’s been making hofner copies for decades. Even in comparison to Hofner, they are notably not well made. I believe it is all laminate construction. When I first got it, it had the cheapest tuners I’ve ever seen, and a soft plastic(think rubbermade) adjustable bridge. I put some better than the original tuners on there, but they are nothing special.I also built a non-adjustable floating Bridge. It would be easy to swap it out with any of the aftermarket adjustable bridges. It has a good set up on it right now and plays well, does not sound bad it is a fun guitar to have around. Something to consider about this guitar, is that it has a bolt on neck so it will never need a neck reset it could be shimmed and easily adjusted overtime. it would also be a great candidate for putting in pick ups, or possibly even putting on a different neck.

A very interesting video. I had never heard of these. Interestingly 50s and 60s Hofners were also all laminate construction (although often of very nice laminates). Identical (or nearly) Hoyers were made of solid woods.
Very enjoyable.
Customize it and add 2 humbucker pickups..
One more tip. Remove that logo from guitar body
