Tony was really in his element here. I absolutely adore him. He brought the whole programme to life with his dashing around bringing everybody together and asking intelligent questions. I do miss this exceptional team.

The new hosts have their own presenting style, and will come into their own in time. Tony was a brilliant combination of enthusiastic host and everyman asking good questions that allowed the experts their moments to shine. He wasn't an expert presenting a documentary, he was just passionate about what they were doing and glad to have experts fill in the details for him, and us.

Phil was pretty dishy back in the day! 🔥 It's so fun to see how young they were and the how rudimentary the technology was. How amazing that they worked together, respected each other, and were able to produce so many episodes of this show for us to enjoy.

Yes indeed. I love the humour and jibing. You can only have that with a team who know each other. Alice Roberts almost certainly has a sense of humour but it humour cant be used when the presenter is visiting dig after dig for a day or two, and interviewing an exhausted dig leader for whom enthusiasm has long worn off after a month or two. the Time Team knew each other and benefiitted from "early days" excitement. Their work revealed what would repay digs lasting months

I love Phil Harding, last saw him on a dig at Waterloo where he has matured nicely. My one piece of confusion is how he keeps his hair from constantly getting in his face! Same with the long haired Time Team ladies. I have hair that length and it requires severe clips and braiding for gardening. Digging for archeology is just gardening for bones and rocks?

These people have no concept of fluvial geomorphology. Over 200,000 years, that river has changed path many, many times.
Unless a river is confined by non-erodible rocks. The natural floodplain is demarcated by the high ground flanking it. If where you are has been deprived of it's natural floodplain width by channelization, you really cannot know what is going on.

I always laugh when Phil or Carenza go up in the helicopter to look over the landscape... Now everyday people can use Google Earth to do the same job, or like you say, send up a drone and take aerial photos.

Wow! They were so young here. I really enjoyed this episode. Personally, I would have kept on the Mammoth tusk myself :P

In the long, deep, trench. Some of the finds obviously (bones, teeth) are ancient... but I truly question any significant value/importance of the wood PLANKS... !!!!!????
