    hi! what to do if I don't want to see any person (myself), or blured shape (me walking towards the camera) in the middle of the photography?

    • @Palateth
      @Palateth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. :) The usual advises for light painting applied : wearing a dark outfit and trying to avoid being lighted by the light source. But with the BLS, there could be additional issues : the outer edge of the front cone should be clear of any dust. Dust on the outer edge will be backlighted by the source and be visible in the image. Then the angle of the front cone is also important : if it's too flat, more light will be reflected back to the holder and it might become a problem. Having the front cone more "pointier" will reduce the amount of light reflected back. Then there are two other causes : the bright face of the holder and the breath. I'm trying to hold it with the arm outstretched, as far from me as possible, and I'm trying to hide my face behind the BLS. That helps me to keep it aligned with the camera too, as the BLS is in my view axis. For the breath, it could be visible if the wind is in the wrong direction and it's very cold or humid. The best way I've found about that is to breath below my (dark) scarf, that limits the size of the "breath cloud". I hope it helps.

    How do you get that light at 1:29

    • @Palateth
      @Palateth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @Gyfftgtdrch. I'm turned towards the back of the tunnel (my back is facing the camera). I have a flash light with an orange gel in my right hand (the backlight scanner is turned off and in my left hand). The orange flash light has a wide beam of light, and is turned towards the back of the tunnel. I'm trying to stay still as much as possible and only my right hand is moving, doing small circles to try to enlight all the background and my surroundings in an even way. Then I've turned this flashlight off, put it in my pocket and do the backlight scanner part. I hope it helps.

      @@Palatethat 2:12 does the silhouette only work if it’s at the end of the tunnel?

    • @Palateth
      @Palateth  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Gyfftgtdrch kind of, yes. The silhouette is a shadow, a negative space, which means there is no light behind this area. If any light goes in this area before or after the initial silhouette, it will "erase" the silhouette. So a closer silhouette is totally possible, but then the person should stand there while illuminating the background.

    • @Gyfftgtdrch
      @Gyfftgtdrch 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ cheers mate I used the BLS on illuminating 10 feet worth of tunnel and the silhouette was pretty visible but I then did a much larger area and it didn’t really show up thanks for your advice

    The idea is excellent but the realization a little less.
    There is always light going backwards, the proof is that in your video we see you even if you are dressed in black, while in the photo we do not see you, it is not consistent.
    Retouching on the final photo? Or is your tool not really represented?

    • @Palateth
      @Palateth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, Roger. In the video, the settings are using high ISO (6400), to see what's going on. The final photo is not retouched at all, but the photo camera was at 100 ISO, which makes the photo camera far less sensitive to the light that the video camera was. :)

    • @Palateth
      @Palateth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But you're right, there is a small part of the light which is bounced back. The tool is far to be perfect. But the second cone, which is blocking the bouned light has to be smaller than the front one, or this second cone will be visible from the camera, so it's a sort of a trade-off between the size of the second cone and the the quantity of light which is bounced back to the lighter.

      @@Palateth Thanks, you responded to my request.
      I have the same problem of back lighting and I fought with the dimensions of the 2 cones and the angle of illumination, I continue to modify the elements to arrive at a good result !

      @@rogerlyobard1978 I really hope someone is going to improve this initial idea. So if you find ways to improve this, please let me know, I'm interested. Thanks :)

      In fact I had the same idea as you. I started doing the scanner and in front of the problems I did searches on the web and found your video.
      My lamp looks a little bit like yours, I'll show you the results and a photo if you are interested.
