This reviewer gets it. I'm one of the handful of folks that has actually had some time with the 707m.There's nothing on the market like this controller for mobile/event guys. I will add that the small jogwheels are a actually a plus. As portablism has proven, surface size is not an obstacle to dope scratching. They're good enough to get the job done, but small enough to not get in the way when using the 707m alongside turntables/cdjs. The size of the unit is perfect for this. Best of both worlds really. Also the pitch faders are shorter, but the resolution is higher compared to a low-mid range controller this size. You know where it's challenging to dial in exact tempo because it skips in .2 bpm increments. The 707m easily moves between .1 bpm.
Great to the point introduction review The Roland DJ 707 looks like it can move the crowd. I own the Roland dj808, great controller, yes platters are small but very accurate for a controller with no adjustments for the jog wheels, looking forward to test the Roland DJ 707, I have used and owned various controllers. I feel the Roland dj707 is in a league of it's own for the moment as when Roland made the old school drum machines and multi track macines that are iconic. The inputs and outputs on the DJ707 are refreshing to see. It looks VERY portable definitely not for a turntablist but more so for a DJ on the go bringing the party on the go like "that" office party that needs some flavor, or a kids party, or anywhere, ( a legit hustle lol ) keep the 707 and some small powered speakers and .... instant $$$. And a great conversation piece while the crowds are dancing and sweating. Again from Cleveland an honest point of view from a very respected DJ. MUCH RESPECT TERRY !
I use a small 8-channel Mackie mixer at weddings that I do. Leaves me with plenty of inputs to handle anything that'll be thrown at me no matter how many planning meetings I've had with couples. I've plugged in an entire band before because the venue didn't have enough space/power to accommodate their set-up and mine. Kudos to the DJs that can bring a controller only and do the job that way, but I've used the mixer so much that it's a mainstay in my wedding rig.
Will Oren I get what you're saying. There are always devices that will be better than others for specific task especially if you know in advanve but in a pinch this may he lifesaver.
Great video! Not many DJs understand what this controller can do. At first glance the compact size will automatically assume its just a toy. But once you learn the features, Roland definitely listened to the working DJs needs. While most brands are making midi controllers bigger with brighter color buttons to try to get DJs excited...it’s not really practical. The zone outs, limiter compressor on each channel, feedback eliminator, all the extra inputs and the compact size is what the mobile DJ or even a club/venue installation is looking for. Roland just made life a bit easier.
Its just because you put it out there laud and clear, your personal opinion about the products without restraints. And if those big brands were not afraid of that kind of critics they would send you all their products to review and invitations for the events. That is what think. I love every second that you spend making your videos. Thanks for that
Thanks for all the work you put into this one. I'm currently trying to lighten my load and reduce the size of my gear, so this type of stuff is right up my alley
I have the DJ 808 and it's a good controller. The low latency is on point and the sound card is the best I've heard to date....So I know this board sounds good
I had a chance to use it (music wise) and I saw the demo. It is a nice piece for a wedding dj , I also saw someone use it with Turntables , it is a nice jog. I was able to drag scratch and did a juggle trick. But is small. People will have to use to use a small jog wheel. But doable
Mr Terry, if you had to choose between the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 MK3 or the 707M which one would you recommend? They are both similar in their own way but I'm a newbie when it comes down to technicality
Can’t wait to demo the new Roland. The features look sick! I think this controller will gain Roland’s momentum in the controller arena. Glad they are looking out for us Mobiles
If they could just make the jog wheels bigger for those DJs who want to do turntablist tricks (or are practicing). For me, the perfect controller is a blend of the DDJ-SX3's functions with the jog wheels of the DDJ1000 SRT and the Roland's key items like the compressor/limiter.
Curious...would the abilities outlined in your video remove the need for a mixing board? I recently did a gig where I plugged my controller directly into the speaker, but was always a little concerned especially if something was to go wrong. Thoughts?
The DDJ-800 is the first controller that supports the new Feedback Reducer feature in rekordbox dj, which instantly detects the “howling” frequency of feedback and brings it down. - Pioneer Is this different from the anit-feedback feature ur mentioning on the Roland?
Mezziah Trinzi it could be the same. I haven't looked into the DDJ 800. Sounds like a technology that just came out. Hopefully they will all include the feature.
I’d be down for LIVE vids.. But I’m always waking up to one of your videos. So maybe u can go live so your NY people can join in.. or setup a notification on when ur going live and I’ll set my alarm clock to wake up at 4am 😎 To watch 👍👍
Best presentation of the DJ 707 M so far. It was short and sweet Thanks. With that being said my only issue with this controller is the fact that it is way too small for liking . I have never really enjoyed those small units.
Small controller, short pitch faders, no jog indicators, but I will say it does have a lot of great features . Cheaper than prime 4 but not sure about that $999 price.
@@ClevelandTerry Terry, reminds of the Denon DJ prime lot , I think same green LEDs etc zone out feature! I do think the FX engine is the best I've heard as good or better then Serato DJ or pioneer
Live stream would be cool 😎 I’d watch. I’m like you, not in the market for a new controller and loving the DDJ1000, plus have the Denon MC7000 for Serato. But if I needed a new workhorse or compact setup, this 707M checks off many boxes! Just never a fan of the green LEDs from Roland.
@@FSwiftDJ What does that have to do with this unit lacking a key feature? This unit cost $1000 and the jogs looks like the same jogs you will find on any $300 budget controller. At least Pioneer includes a Vinyl needle indicator for it's units that costs over $800. These jogs look like the jogs that Pio puts on their $400 units. This unit needs more functionality in order to provide information on what the jog wheels are doing. Serious omission.
It's impossible to see the buttons on it. Why black on black? Thumb up for the video, thumb down for the color scheme. You still can change it Roland so, i can buy it.
Lol.....i usually love your content bro. However...i don't understand the comments about DJ Expo. I WANTED to go but i didn't plan accordingly money wise..... therefore i didn't go. I WILL be in Vegas 2020 and it's got NOTHING to do with "sponsorship" or getting invited. Don't be a hater, you're better than that
I use a 505 weekly as a guest at a residency. Crappy crossfader, ugly design, ugly color scheme, basic feel, and I hate it. The 707 and 808 look like bigger versions, so no thanks. But, that's just my opinion. My very irritated opinion after having a failed beta firmware update on my phase unit and coming to youtube to distract myself.

Cleveland can you use the effects standalone like the Pioneer S9

Did you make the follow up video for this controller yet?
Yeah we would love you to do live stream
anybody have any news if Roland is doing a DJ-808 refresh ???
What is the hard case shown in the video?

+PrinzII agreed!
As a dude with large hands, those smaller jog wheels can be a bit of a pain.
Curious...would the abilities outlined in your video remove the need for a mixing board? I recently did a gig where I plugged my controller directly into the speaker, but was always a little concerned especially if something was to go wrong. Thoughts?
+Rick Watson Yes, this should remove the need for an additional mixing board, assuming you’re not trying to mic a band lol.

The jog wheels on the entry level 202 are amazing for the price so I can only imagine the 707 being awesome.
Just having assignable compression to the outputs...mobile dj dream....
Hey Cleveland did you ever get a chance to get your hands on this unit to test it?
Unfortunately no
@@ClevelandTerry ohh....i've been searching to find out how responsive the jog wheels are, i know size might be an issue but wanted to make sure

no, you don't need it

RADIANTSLUDGE ya for all this thing does I would think anybody that buys this would be ok with a slightly larger unit.
Space with DJing is important I agree , I think this controller is more spin off mixars unit , they put loads features into small controller
I'd love to see some Roland flagship players/mixers... They used to make quality and reliable products and Pioneer just needs some seious competition.
