Thanks for the kind words and support as always man. Still glad when these kinds of videos can provide some form of entertainment. Hope the repairs are going well with you too and wishing you the best!
Happy to see repair videos again. Your channel was a big help when I started my own arcade board collection. I actually have a Sailor Moon board that used to be fully functioning but last time I plugged it in it was starting to display some graphics issues. If that's something you'd be interested in giving me advice on, I'd appreciate it.
Im glad the videos could help out for you. If it has been a while since you played it, it could be the eproms or socketed roms with some dirty or corroded legs. you can remove each one carefully, but only do one at a time, remove it, clean the legs on them with some very fine grit sandpaper, then put them back into the socket. Make sure that the direction is correct and no legs get bent when you remove or put them back in and it should clear up your problem :) hope that helps
@@lukemorse1 Thanks for the response. I got a chance to pull the board out today and tested it before doing anything. It starts fine then after warming up a bit, the screen will start flashing. During those flashes it will sometimes look like the top and bottom change place for a split second. Doesn't make it unplayable, more distracting. There are only two socketed eproms the rest are all soldered to the board. I pulled the two out and saw that I'd already shined them up with sandpaper last time I'd looked at it. I did it again and unfortunately there's no change.
Long time no speak man, good to hear from you. It was some detective meets resurrection going on here. Just glad to have it running though and thanks as always my friend
Hahahahaha! Im sure there are many other better things he has to take care of than working on old games but Im glad to play a part in the resurrecting process.
Good to see another video from you Luke, and on one of my favourite games too. I also have a PCB, it is more working than yours was when you got it. Playable, but with some corruption in the background graphics, especially once you get to the vertical scrolling sections. I did not know these boards suffered from rot, I will have to try swapping the background PROM as a first step - I hope it does not have any broken traces. My soldering skills are definitely not up to your level, although I can proudly say they have improved over the years watching your videos :) I actually have quite a few boards now, over 50% are not working, either outputting nothing, or freeze etc I have found that I really love working on them, so once again thank you for the inspiration dude!
Really good to hear from you man. I know when it comes to programming and coding, you have the upper hand for sure lol. Hopefully you can get those other boards working as well! Although rough, Im glad the vids have helped in some shape or form. Take it easy T-man
Awesome repair bud, i wonder would it be worth vinegar bathing the pcb side that has the connectors, to neutralize any further pcb rot? I also doubt the original seller stored it properly with desiccant absorber.
Thanks man. Yes, not mentioned in the video but the rotted places as well as the 2 boards were gone over with a vinegar/lemon juice mix, then washed with soap and water and dried for a couple of days before testing again. As for the seller....you are probably right lolol.
Hey Luke, glad you got it working, it's a really fun game too. Good information as well on a common issue with this board that may not be detectable when purchasing online. Which do you prefer, the original or the sequel on the MVS?
Hey David, long time my friend. Thanks as always man. I like both really. The original is seriously unfair with a lot of cheap shots but it is comical and neat. Stages are a little bit short though. The sequel has a lot of upgraded graphics and the saving of the people is neat. BTW, did you get your PGM running again? if you need some help with it, hit me up on FB. Take care man and thanks as always
@@lukemorse1 Always great to hear from you as well my friend, I'm so busy these days with work, and have a son being born in early 2020, but I like and watch every video, as well as comment on them all man, I know maybe you don't see them all, and I don't see all the comments on my vids as well, we're all so busy,...and getting so old sadly, haha, but yeah, I'll definitely reach out to you that way, Instagram or facebook, whichever works best for you. Seriously, one day we need to meet up and have some drinks at an izakaya of your choosing when I can finally get back to Tokyo; my wife is half Japanese; her grandfather was born in Tokyo, but her father and her, have never been there, so always wanted to take them there. I'm not sure where you are located these days, but my old stomping grounds for watering holes were primarily central, in the minato-ku area, so if you are elsewhere, I'd love to get out thataways...really miss a lot of things about being there, especially in these crazy days.... and yeah...I can't believe I've never picked up Prehistoric ISLE 2!!!!! Anyway, my fav shump on the MVS is still Operation ragnarok, it's one that I don't recall playing in the retro shooting floors of akihabara arcades (maybe I did and don't recall, like so much else, lol) But still remember the vid you put up a decade ago showing it, a gameplay and the pickups, I think ste.ryan was a fan of it, and you were showing him you acquired it, man, so many years ago, so many folks on youtube ago, still my fav. Always great to hear from you buddy, means a lot to me, and hope all is well for you are yours.
Thanks for the comment. The best way to start would be on common or older electronics with simple components that may not be working properly and then go from there
If you burn an eeprom, and if u keep it dark sealed, wil it basically last forever potentially? Or will eeproms eventually guarenteed to slowly erase themselves?
Where can i get one of those Jamma Connectors that works with this game - I also have the game. Use to have a Pandora box 4 on the arcade system. It is a black looking jamma connector with chinese on it. When I plug it into the system. I get the little chime with a really quick white video shows and then nothing after that. Board LED stays red. Any Ideas?
Tighe man. Thanks as always :) Such a pain to pinpoint these pcb issues but feels great when you are finally able to do so (you know this for sure lol) hope you are doing well man
currently i face same issue in my jamma board which lead me to ask you Where to buy this IC chip (P18941 by Sharp) in order to replace both of them Thanks in advance
Really hard to say at this point. There are still many games out there that I havent played or dont even know about so Im not sure. Each time I find something neat, I find another game just as cool so I cant choose.
