You cannot speak about amnesty without bringing up the Registry Act. Reagan should have modernized this in 86 but he didn't. A rolling annual cutoff date could have kept this act relevant and help those who came here legally but became out of status such as myself. The fact that this IS STILL being ignored by lawmakers tells you they simply don't care about people. I had a H1B employer who broke the law and he got away with just a slap on the wrist all because he filed a chapter 7. If you really want to clean up a broken system start by dishing out jail time for employers who break the law. Nobody who comes here legally should have to go through decades of hell just because they became a victim of crime and the law couldn't protect them!!!

A greencard holder thru marriage, broke their stay here after 2 years because of health reasons. stayed almost 8 months.. off US shore. Can something be filed as a wavier for the absence? If not will their calculation of conituneous residence start over or continue once they return?

you should apply for 2 work permits...one for the prima facie determination and the other for the U visa approval!

fill in your surname and bring your birth certificate with your full name or get a new passport with your full name.
