Music: Johann Michael Haydn, 1737-1806; Words: Robert Grant, 1833, based on Psalm 104.
O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing His power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.
O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space,
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.
Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.
Never gets old. I keep in coming back. Thank you Lord for Wendell and this song.
What an fantastic version! Way to go taking something from the 18th century and delivering it with such a lively flair. Great job!
I love this so much. Praise God.
Wonderful, fresh and energetic guitar arrangement of a favourite hymn of mine. Great instructional, too!
Beautiful, continue to play to the glory of God. Bless you!
Great version and I love the straight acoustic! Way to go Wendell! One of my favorite people!
Really liked your version. I love old hymn put in new way. Thanks!
Thank you brother for your clear explanation. We shall sing this version on Sunday. Many thanks, God bless!

Thank you, and great of you to share. Very much enjoyed.
Loved it my friend
I'm actually working on a hymns project with some friends right now. Thanks for asking. Keep in touch!
awesomeness!
Ha! Was looking this song up and look who I found. Really nice. I'm going to borrow this arrangement, but for piano.
You rock, brother.
Very cool arrangement! I was looking for a fresh arrangment of this hymn and found it here! Your guitar playing is great. (FYI, for some reason, the audio is only in the left channel.)
Wonderful!
found your albums on iTunes just bought both of them. Are you going to make a hymn album that would be tight!!
This is great! Thanks for sharing!
How many years of playing an hour a day does it take to reach this level of expertise ?
Hmm...your music sounds phenomenal, and I will definitely be learning this version for future use on our worship team...the only thing I noticed, and I really kept looking hoping I was wrong...you keep referring to the key of D but as far as I can tell you are in Dm? or Bb if you want to go that route...Am I misunderstanding something here?
dude i like your stuff.
Can you share your arrangement please? Thanks!
i enjoy your singing and the guitar but i would like to hear your voice, the guitar sort of drowns you out :- ( but it sounds very good.
Dude what about the 5th verse? No one ever sings the 5th verse aaaarg!
Unless you are using an alternate tuning of some sort, which kind of defeats the concept of using a capo...but whatever lol...
Thanks, Paul. It was my pleasure to be there!
