I absolutely hated working in customer service, some people were just plain ignorant!!!! I worked at target & I was a cashier & people would just treat me any kind of way! I like to think I'm a very sweet & nice person, and there was a handful of people who have took me out of my character!!! But my managers were all young & cool & had no problem with us checking customers, they would even step in sometimes & give their 2 cents! Lol.. But you aren't just gonna talk to me any kind of way & think I'm not gonna say nothing because I wanna keep this job, girl just like I got this one I can get two more just like it!! People really need to learn respect & it's not what you say it's how you say it!
I worked at Mickey D's back in the day and experienced so much verbal abuse. People act like if you work in customer service you're less than, and it's awful. I had a MAN threaten to beat me up over some ketchup packets. Are you kidding me?
Im glad that you made this video. Ive also workes in Customer Service since I was 16. Specifically call centers. What I have noticed is that folks get really bold over the phone. People tend to take out their lifes frustrations on the people providing service. People sometimes feels powerless in their own life and this is their one moment to feel powerful. Its a shame. You have to have a strong sense of resiliency to be GOOD at Customer Service.
Truth be told, I think it's a power trip. Some of these people don't have power any where else so who gets it? Service workers. It's disgusting & a huge sense of entitlement. Sad.
I can not stand people who are rude to the people who are in a lower position than them or are servicing them. Give someone a smile and a hello especially at restaurants and retail. THAT gets under my skin!
I was dismissed from my job when a customer called the corporate office and said that I refused service. It was after 10pm and we only had 3 people running the store. I was stuck in drive-thru taking orders and cashing out. As soon as I took her money and the window closed, she called me the N word. I kindly gave her back her money and told her we don't tolerate racism at this location. No one asked her why or called for my side of the story. I was there for over a year and a manager for the last 6 months. If they asked, I came in early and stayed late. There were times when I came in on my day off to cover shifts for people. I received numerous compliments from customers on a daily. Without any regard, the new GM (a black woman) told me (a black woman) that refusing service goes against company policy and results in termination.
Honestly I'm so happy you talked about this. People don't realize what its like working for these big companies. I've worked at Target and Walmart, and when I tell you those people don't give a shit about their employees man. Its so sad. And when I worked at Target, they kept telling me to look happier and smile. I was like, what is there to smile about? I don't get paid shit, no health insurance, my hours suck, get talked down to, and the costumers are impatient and disrespectful! Needless to say, I quit. Its really demeaning. It doesn't matter if someone flips burgers or stocks shelves. People need to be treated with respect, period. But I agree with you about the flip side. Some of these kids that work as cashiers and front desk receptionists are rude as fuck. I asked one lil girl at McDonalds for some BBQ sauce, and she said "you're asking for too much." WTF?!
I used to work at Wal Mart as well and the superiors act like I was working at Microsoft or something. I was doing them and another job so I was literally burning myself out. Every time I would try to call in sick they would order me to come in and I would. I finally got me an excuse and they didn't go against it. I was working 7 days a week because I worked two jobs. I was so darn tired and Wal Mart is something else. I really hated that place and would never go in there on my days off.
i never go anywhere at closing time. i know they have worked all day and need to close and go home. a restaurant hostess talked to me crazy cuz i asked if the restaurant had been redone. i had 3 other guests w/me. we aren't coming back cuz of her behavior. 4 customers gone and of course we will tell our friends!!lol i sell car insurance in texas....my middle name is customer service!!lol my clients have any cell number and can contact me after hours too. a lot of people are rude and nasty. EVERYONE HAS VALUE!!! if you are unhappy...stay home....don't take it out on others...
iWork at a restaurant, we use at 10. There is always somebody walking in at 9:45 when all the servers are cut and half the kitchen are walking out making demands lol
I'm so happy to be out of the fast food field and working for my damn self! I had a lady through a sandwhich at me all the way from where she was sitting in the lobby. Luckily for her it hit the register. It's not always the cashier that has an attitude. It's customers that come in and talk to you like you're gum on the bottom of their shoe no matter how nice you are to them.
I work as a hostess at a restaurant. And let me tell you, I feel like everybody should be required to work at a restaurant. I swear it will change the way you look at customers service and will give you a sense of respect for how hard we really work. Customers come in and are complete assholes at times just making your life difficult for no reason. Then tou have the staff who can't stand the heat. I have learned so much about patience and treating people with kindness at my job. The pay is shit but the lessons are priceless
People in general take other people for granted,I agree customers act is if you owe them something, they don't appreciate the extra mile, I stopped going above and beyond because it wasn't necessary.
I worked in customer service so when I go places whether it be food or merchandise store I'm always mindful of that. I remember days when I felt like crap and was almost about to pass out but I had bills so I had no other choice but to work. I was also a full time college student so I was stressed and people would come in the store wanting me to wait hand and foot on them and making my job harder. So I know the struggle and the battles they could be fighting and talking to them in a belittling way may push them over the edge.
YESS Justin go in!! I work in pharmacy as well and I have to get folks together on a daily. This instant gratification shit has gone to peoples head something awful. Thank you for speaking on it!
I feel you, I did retail pharmacy for about 10 years When I tell you that was a test of my patience, Whoo! You ain't seen nothing till you see an irate sick person, You do not wanna come between Americans & their meds. Half of them in there for get high meds anyhow they ain't fooling me!
Lee Wallace I'm coming up on 4 years and when I tell my nerves is shot to shit... of course it's not all bad but that select few (smdh). The entitlement, and the feeling like they have the RIGHT to be disrespectful because they're the customer and you are just some lowly robot servant with no feelings. Shit I have bad days here and there just like the next human being, so even though I am professional and I actually enjoy it more often than not, that disrespectful high horse shit pushes me over the edge at times.
I just had a frustrating customer service experience myself. There is a sub shop next to the school I work and cause it tends to be so busy I call in my order before I walk by and pick it up. These folks left me on hold for over five minutes while all I hear in the background is them kiking amongst themselves and with random customers. I must have said hello to try and get someone's attention a million times. Finally I hung up, called back, and gathered them and the manager in a calm respectful manner. Bet you my sub was ready in less then 5 minutes and they gave me a coupon for my future visits.
A-FUCKING-MENNN!!! I've always said anyone who works in customer service deserves higher pay. Remaining polite and courteous while constantly being disrespected and talked down to should be considered a skilled trade!! Another problem is that most retail companies strongly reinforce the idea that throwing a tantrum=get anything you want. The customers who politely bring up a problem or ask for something get an apology and the customers that scream and yell at sales clerks like spoiled toddlers get money, gift certificates, free merchandise and PROFUSE ass-kissing from the company. Then to add insult to injury, the company will throw the employee under the bus and make it seem like they did something wrong.
Love it. It's almost always over some minor thing that can be resolved in less than 5 minutes. Instead of saying hey my order is incorrect and getting it fixed, people want to explode and verbally assault someone about lettuce on their tacos or some other nonsense.
I work in customer service to retail and I hate to say it but I have the most problems out of my own kind definitely in the months of income tax they act like they own the damn store. I'm like Jesus you can't be that rude you greet them they have a attitude u make a mistake they threaten to call corporate on you.
***** LOL! Hilarious. I've heard it called snuff before though. What really cracks me up is that he made it sound like an everyday thing that people go around doing in Memphis.
I once had a female cuss me out because I corrected her because she pronounced something wrong that confused me. "I'm sorry ma'am... We don't sell 'those swirly things'. Ohhh... Cinnamon twists!" -curses me out because she didn't know-
Omg yes!!!!! I was just talking about this the other day. It's all about respect. After working a month as a host at Cheddars I don't let these people get jazzy with me anymore lol I tried to be nice but those customers have me messed up lol! Then they try to Report you to the manager i'm on the side laughing like this JOB is only temporary this will not be my career and I just graduated from college with honors and plan on going to graduate school next year lol these customers can have a seat!
Man smacked her with a hamburger. He wouldn't of lived to see the rest of his life. It would've been war in there. One of my family members use to work a Walmart and a customer spit in their face. They jacked the person up and then threw them. The police came and charged the customer and told my family member they weren't going to press charges against her because she was in the right for self defense, but Walmart let her go do to their guide lines. I don't care sometimes you have to let people know for your safety cause if not they will keep doing it. Where I worked at I learned how to check customer professionally fast.
Well.. I have had people record me at work and I tell them I hope you enjoy yourself. I have people come in and start cussing I would put them in check and let them know there is the door and they need to hit it. Sometimes you have to let people know where they stand. And let them know that the bus stops at their house not yours. I totally agree with you people are just sad.
I agree with you on this topic. Everybody needs a level of respect in their workplace, especially food and customer service. If you don't get quality service, just leave and take your business elsewhere.
Omg I know exactly what you're talking about. I've dealt with it on both sides. And I'm the same way. I don't disrespect anyone who is handling any that has to do with my food or anything else and I hate when my employees are rude as well.
Child I worked in customer service at a theme park for years and let me tell you, getting bitch at was apart of the job and you got it from everybody under the sun and at times I would literally hate everyone and I mean everybody: Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Jewish, gays straight people, young people, old people, even little kids( yes children would yell and act a fool and their parents just stood there and let them), the handicap and handicapable, Christians, Catholics, etc. EVERYBODY wants to get mad when they can't have their ways and then cry "discrimination" even though their receiving the same exact treatment as everybody else ugh. Working customer service should be required for everyone. They need to go ahead and throw that in the high school curriculum. From my own experience as a customer, being nice, patient and understanding to the person that is helping you usually gets you more than what you asked for, especially at a restaurant.
Sometimes people don't realize they are being rude_ my sister went threw a toll both and had a million questions_ the cashier said_ first let me start with a good morning to you_ so how May I help you_ that changed the whole vibe and we forget at times to just say hello_
I could go on this subject for hours, and that's on BOTH sides of the coin. I'll short hand it and say it all boils down to having pride, decency and respect for oneself. That way, one will be able to honor their fellow man with the same. Please and thank you cost nothing, but pays off immensely. We don't know who and what others have encountered throughout their day and we don't know if their encounter with us just might happen to be the one pulls them from the edge of the cliff, or push them over. You never know what an encouraging word can do for someone, and it doesn't have to be a grand production. A smile, a pat, a pleasant greeting or just letting someone know that they matter. Do we ever wonder the last words a person heard before they did something heinous ? Do we know that it was OUR words that could have made the difference ?
this dude at the post office called his self going off on the employee because someone wasn't delivering his mail correctly as if she was the one delivering it. i got him together real quick. she probably couldn't treat his life, but i didn't have nothing to lose in that situation. i hate when people think they can get buck with you because you have a job to do.
#retailbullies will try you in crazy ways they never would if they saw you on the street. I manage a device support center and these folks act like they can run a phone with a Mac truck then want to flip all the way out when you let them know their warranty to null and void. I've had phone literally thrown, tears shed and been called every but a Child of God (or the n-word). It's taught me a lot however. Great topic.
What I hate is Walmart having 20 registers but only six lines open on a Saturday morning. Not the cashiers fault it's the assholes in the cooperate office.
Having previously worked in fast food and at a buffet I've seen my fair share of nasty stuff behind the scenes. That's why I'm never rude to people who handle my food.
That and a lot of businesses don't hire as many people as they need to have because they want to cut corner and costs they really are keeping people who need job out of work and irritating the hell out of customers
Child I hear. You know I work in a call center have to deal with people and they shit all the damn tie. I really hate they expect our asses to be cheerful honey i'm human I have feelings. lol
Well I may be late on this videos but I will say this I've worked in customer service for 10 years I've been called the n-word I've been called a black bitch by someone that was a selfhating black and I didn't do anything but provide good customer service some people just have mental issues and no matter how you treat them it's never good enough then there are times where I've been shopping places and I've dealt with people that have fucked up customer service skills we all go through things but some people really do have some nasty ass attitude I can always tell when someone is just having a bad day or when someone is just a bitch

4 years later, and people still have BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE 🤦♀️
AMEN- i work in customer service and people treat you like garbage
Thank you for making this video. People really leave their manners and common sense at home sometimes.
