Actually amazing at 31:00. Been offered 3 contracts so far in my very recent entry into the UK scene. The only org that hasn't offered me a contract but also has had no expectations of the team such as "perform this well and you will get a salary", is Animosity. Some contracts even said I would not be allowed to leave for a year, otherwise I would be penalised $500 and wouldn't legally be allowed to attend another LAN or online event for a year under another name. Then had a "benefits" section where if we placed in a recent tournament we could get a $200 bonus payment and they would discuss salary... Its just a fucking mess. I've still got two on my PC that I can look at for a laugh every now and again. There is no current org that I can think of in the UK who will stick their neck out and make an investment on a lineup. Any player you pickup or team you pickup is an investment, and no org seems to understand that.
Also one thing that wasn't discussed in the video that I feel may need to be discussed a little, companies cashing out on players going to LAN. I've been to 2 local LAN's and won them both for some extra cash. But if my team decides to go to iseries we need to place to make it financially viable. £100 for a ticket is a ridiculous asking price, especially when in some situations players will need to get transport to the LAN, they pay for the food at the LAN which is always overpriced, then they may even have to find lodging, which can prove to be expensive as well. How any player is meant to break into the international scene from the UK in the current state of things is beyond me. We can't even get scouted, nobody is going to look at the best player at iseries and decide from their performance that they are worth trialling.
Btw longtime fan Richard Lewis, I hope you enjoy your time under ELEAGUE!

Thanks for asking my question and he's perfectly entitled to call me ignorant on the topic because I am and I genuinely wanted more info on how much he still follows the scene :)

An interesting watch. Never heard of this channel before, clicked on it after seeing richards face. I think at times i take Richards and Thorins content for granted, but videos like this remind me of the gulf between them and the next generation of content creators such as yourselves. I don't mean this in a harsh way or derogatory way, simply that they have evolved to a certain point through experience and I hope that this interview helps mould the way in which questions are asked and issues discussed and I look foward to seeing more from you in the future.
Edit- I appreciate that budget is an issue and everything is tight, but investing a better mic really would massively improve to the viewers experience.

Hey Don, it's Dom here, the creator of this channel. I'll be honest - my expertise is in writing and magazine journalism and I am new to the video side of things, but yes - I know I need a new mic, and that is on my list of things to get! Thanks for the feedback.

Nice to get a personal response. Your explanation to your past experience and expertise reminded me of another thing that tweaked in my mind whilst watching. I would suggest working on your interaction with regards to the viewer. Whilst you're conducting an interview via skype, you're most likely relying on audio, you spent a considerable amount of time looking off camera. I'm guessing this is because you're reading through pre-prepared notes so you don't miss anything or forget the points you wanted to make, but from a viewers point of view its a bit odd. On a related note, I'd suggest adjusting your camera. You and what you're saying are the focus of the video, so make yourself the focus of the camera, zoom in a bit.
Once again, thanks for the reply.

You're welcome and thanks for your advice. Haha you are spot on, I have a large monitor, and so I was looking at Richard while interviewing him, but of course that means it appears I'm not looking at the viewer (as I'm not focusing on my webcam). Towards the end of the video I had moved the footage of Richard nearer my webcam, which means it looks like I'm looking at the viewer - and I can read the interviewee's body language etc at the same time. Point taken around zooming in.

With regards to the part of the video discussing whether UK esports failing state is a sort of British problem, I'm not sure this is the case. While the English (and Scottish) footballing teams often disappoint their fans and perform very poorly, the English rugby team is always amongst the best in the world, as is the cricket team. Furthermore, Team GB always performs well at the Olympics, and in football, the Welsh team has become a very respectable team in the last few years.
