- Much like America's Army, this game is quite clearly propaganda but boy it's just a really fun video game. A unique side in a war that no other game really explores, with some great gameplay that makes me wonder how the Men of War devs have any excuse these days. All done by a really small team too.
The story is neat, and the voice acting varies. Some of it is good, but I'm kind of glad they didn't try to fake Syrian accents. It would have likely been a lot worse to hear all of it in forced accents. As of this video going live, I've already finished the game so you're definitely getting a part 2, but people's response will affect if I upload the DLC campaign video's as well.

apparently a RPG had landed in his yard several years ago and failed to explode, he had it emptied of explosive components and then put it back as a memorial or something.
party was not happy as they thought he was badas and had a actual RPG-7 or something. he did have a scoped hunting rifle and ammo.

It's because it's (the studio) is mostly made up from people who worked at GFI Russia (aka Mist Land South) and they were known for tactical strategies.

KOTYAR0 to be fair, the feat IS achievement-worthy. The journos got themselves stuck knee-deep in the deepest puddle of shit you could possibly find in that mission. And you were to pull them out of it somehow.
Fun fact: despite the stats showing that said journos were barely capable of self-defense, those two insurgents that somehow managed to sneak inside their hideout during my playthrough got beaten to death with the massive camera the reporters were carrying around. Bet that made for a great footage, heh.

so that is one example on a person that is not only doing a "slip up" but also been caught in a lie because after all you need to be thinking to keep a lie going but many people tell the truth by reflex aka without thinking about it

He's literally the military version of your little brother when your mother asks you to bring him with you to play. I don't know how or why the war against Isis went on for this long when Abu hajaar is the best example of a fighter
At 11:05 the suicider isn't blowing its own forces. That mission represents the infighting between Daesh (ISIS) and al Nusra (Syrian al Qaeda).
So in that mission just like in real life you have more than one rebel faction who fight each other if they aren't busy fighting you. Al Nusra controls everything on the left and ISIS much of what's on the right side of the road.
Played the game a long time ago. Like you I loved it. The story was hilarious for all the wrong reasons, the mechanics were quite good.

Dont know if you are serious or not. Either way here is how it works.
Dumb bombs have an atrocious CEP of around 100 meters around the aiming point. That means that 50% of the bombs dropped will fall in a circle of 100 meters of diameter around the target. The other 50% will fall outside.
Fact is that even if the target is identified as hostile. The pilot has a clear aiming point and execute a perfect weapon delivery the bomb does not give a shit.
It will most likely miss its mark and fall off. Even with an advanced ballistic computer because that only calculates the aimpoint. The rest is variables.
That is why western armies use PGMs in urban environments since the CEP is less than 2 meters. And they will still kill civilians in some unfortunate cases making CAS in urban areas problematic to begin with.

One thing I like about this game is that you start fighting as just the police force against a militia. You don't really see a lot of games focus on the early skirmishes of a conflict like that.
I'm not gonna lie, I actually like some Russian propaganda, alongside all of the American propaganda. It's not like either is gonna tell anything remotely similar to the truth anyhow, might as well laugh at both.
I love how people who claim they acknowledge both sides are propaganda still take one side in the end making their belief a joke. They probably just say it to look smart while disregarding anything they don't like as "propaganda" anyway.

@@barsni4779 Different levels of propaganda. There's a difference for instance between outright lies, embellishments, or things taken out of context/lies of omission. Iraq War WMDs and Douma-OPCW whistleblowers are both things that have been propagandized, but I'd argue one was definitely closer to the truth.
Besides, lots of propaganda has kernels of truth in it. Makes it a pain in the ass to sort out really

When I played it I kept Uncle Mansur to the end of the game, he was my most elite tank commander, every time a got a new tank, Mansur was the first to get it. When I put him in the latest T-90 later in the game he was fucking UNSTOPPABLE! Thanks to ERA, that actually works in this game he was virtually immune to RPGs from the front.

There is also a Russian kind of copy game, called Sudden Strike 3, 3D. (Tried to translate it in English, in Russian it called Противостояние: 3Д-перезагрузка). Made in old 2010, it’s about fictional war in Afghanistan, where we, as Russian army, fighting terrorists, Pakistan forces and yes, US army. Though, it’s an old game, I remember it being very fun and so easy, as American forces there is very formidable opponent, especially Air units and vehicle. Russian have a GRU infantry, VDV, T90, BMP-2, and various amount of other units. Story is decent and there is good voice acting(in Russian, of course, but I can assure you, it’s good)
But, I don’t know, where it can be bought, I lost my CD-copy, and game don’t exist in Steam. Maybe on GOG, I think?

ehhh the different English accents can also show cultural differences without needing voice actors with that culture. As there are a lot of different English accents this helps. But I'd always prefer think accents over than English accents
@@gastari429 i tried to play Metro 2033 in Russia whit english subtitle. swifted back because as soon as combat started I could not understand them as I did not get time to read the subtitle add in that not all combat lines get subtitled I could hear mean I could miss a grenade warning. because the game decided to subtitle one of my alliance Im reloading line.

There's a mod of missions that have that. You can check on the workshop the Syrian Warfare game has. Also should note Men of War 2 has a similar mod. Think Call to Arms too

So what's the propaganda? In the game, Syrian troops, with the support of Russia, are fighting against ISIS terrorists. This game shows this conflict very accurately. Shows who is who.

Unlike COD, the Syrian Warfare didn't portraited american soldiers as butchers who enjoy killing hundreds of helpless civilians including children, love torturing POWs, and didn't put the blame on US for warcrimes made by russians in real life. Yeah, it's pro-russian and it doesn't show the point of view from the other side, but saying that it's "propaganda" or "anti-american" is quite too much. "Lacks perspective" or "Doesn't portrait the whole picture" is a more fitting description imo.

Infinity Ward didn't even have the decency to, as Americans, own up to the most iconic imagery of the Gulf War, instead pinning it on Russia for some reason...

The exact reason why this game studio went from cat games to this is that it had guys who are former 2000s RTS developers
Studio was called GFI Russia and has several other RTS such as Warfare(2D modern RTS) and Warfare 3D:Reload.
The real question, then, is how did they end up making cat games?

Nobody really seems to care when USA shoots out their high-budget military games about glorious american soldiers every year, but when a military game made by Russians appears, everyone just sees it as blatant propaganda. This is really problematic and disturbing imo.

Regarding your statement at 5:55, I can assure you that does NOT happen. Not in the least. Believe me, I'm german myself and I've seen the "refugee-camps" in person. They are not nice. The best you can hope for is more or less a 1dlk in a large apartment complex (Plattenbau) or a living container, that you have to share with your entire family and/or aditional strangers. The weirdest thing is, in my opinion atleast, why is it that almost no refugees ever get "relocated" to rural areas or agricultural heavy regions? We in Germany have a serious lack of junior farmers, and if we could place the refugees in those areas, for them to learn farming, animal husbandry and stuff, they could build themselves good and honest lives with more room than you could possibly need, a good job with a fair income, always enough food for the entire family and they wouldn't have to get stigmatised as "parasides that don't want to work", it'd be 2 birds with 1 stone.
Because, if the german government did that, the rural conservatives would run to the AFD and the CDU/CSU electoral base would collapse.

Modern Warfare the Russians were allies, the ultra-nationalist faction were the villians. Cold War made both sides essentially the same and let you choose. The Modern Warfare reboot is a lot more Western propaganda, but again even that is a 'rogue' Russian doing his thing. Other than Cold War, and even that is still a faction doing their own thing, there is never really a 'Russia and it's government are directly your opponent' it's always a faction that is disavowed or unknown.
This game goes from 0 to 100 really quick. I do like that they treat journalist like they should (at least where I live, most are dumb).

Man, I’m rewatching this video and it’s so unrealistic, the Russians are way to competent and overpowered compared to real life.

Half joking lol, but the Russian intervention in Syria succeeded much better then even they could have expected. The Syrian regime was on the brink of collapse. Now they control the vast majority of their country and have essentially stabilized.
Fast forward to today, even after the Ukraine debacle (which was a mistake in Russias part), they continue to have alliances and trade partners. A lot of that can be contributed to their Syrian policy.
They backed one state and one goal. Meanwhile different parts of the US government supported opposing opposition groups in Syria who literally fought one another constantly ("FSA" vs the YPG/Kurds)
I'm sure this comment won't get noticed as I'm at least 2 years late in writing it.
The reason this game came out well is because some of the developers at "Cats Who Play" studio was key figures in the development of "Warfare", released in 2009. Even though the game feels even older, I'm sure it's worth a look.
