Bike Sports Rides Oaxaca

Bikes are one of those exceptional tools. They are tools for travel, exercise, exploration, competition, joy. And they can be used as tools for connection and growth. Last fall, Bike Sports journeyed south to Oaxaca, Mexico over Día de Los Muertos for a different kind of adventure. We wanted to show the breadth of which you can consume cycling beyond gravel races.
Part of Bike Sports ethos is pushing your comfort zone. That can be in competition, in adventure riding or racing, but also in experiencing a new place and bicycle tourism. If you've been thinking about taking that trip to a new place, maybe there's some daunting logistics, some nerves around going to a place that hasn't been exposed as a cycling destination. In this Oaxaca trip we hope to show you that pulling the trigger on that adventure, whatever it is, will be worth it.
We connected with former pro Pedro Martinez, Carlos, and Luiz to ride from Oaxaca City to Cuajimoloyas in the mountains. Luiz, the unofficial Mayor of Cuajimoloyas (aka he grew up there), shared his favorite backyard trails-- places we never would have found on our own. WE called him the Mayor of Cuajimoloyas as every person knew him and he was truly showcasing his home. Sometimes a limit pushing adventure is less about the miles and more about the connection. We are all so much more alike than not. We continued with a couple more days riding across the Sierra Nortes before getting shipped back to Oaxaca for the biggest days of the Día de los Muertos celebrations.
