The PPA approved 20 Selkirk paddles. Selkirk turned around and told the players they HAD TO play with the 008. So imagine having to use a paddle you don't like or aren't used to at one of the biggest tournaments of the year? Plus when you think about it, it was a genius move by Proton. He has got a tough Dad. He said in an interview that his dad is super intense and tough on him when it comes to training. He is more scared of him than he is of loosing.
What a great observation! I notice this as well. Q and A.L. Waters look at their parents after each play. These young people, I think both are in their teens, need to GROW UP and not be so dependent on their parents for reassurance. Look at us old folks, we have all the confidence in the world.
Wright & Q is the worst duo ever
Johns' brother was better duo, Wright is an excellent player, but he was not performing well today. Quong may needs new partner to compete with Johns.
Another nice but misguided reply. They targeted duong all day and made him look bad bad
Wright didn't play well
Did Duong switch paddles?
Collin finally stepped up. It took the breakup for him to step up. Too late now though. Too bad.
Colin has been stepped up. They were/are still the most dominant team, by a ways. Just not AS dominant as they had been.
What Ben Johns did was super dangerous. Disappointing. What did Q do?
Part of the game
If that’s part of the game, than eyewear should be mandatory and players need to sign a release of liability form. That’s super dangerous to swing that out of control at someone’s head. Really bad look.
Please it’s a wiffle ball. Speed ups are part of pickleball and sometimes they’re out of control.
I don’t think people have that same response when they lose their eyesight or have permanent damage.
Multiple pros have gotten concussions from “just a whiffle ball”
I’m all for body bags in the hip, chest, or shoulder. But neck and above is not cool or good for the sport.

immature baby ben, that intentional swing is very classless and unsportsmanlike. i cant imagine having his name on my paddle.
Totally agree. When someone displays such unsportsmanlike behavior, he doesn't deserve to be the world's best. And he even brags about it in the post-game interview? There is no doubt it was intentional. Is that the kind of example he wants to show your kids? Shameful. Ben has lost my respect.
@@user-tz2jy5gb7p Boo hoo for that. I dont think there wa anything wrong with what he did. Quong tried to body bag both colllin and Ben multiple times in the game. That was a fair shot from Ben. So many people left comment "unprofessional" about Ben's shot. Even Quang aimed for opponents' body as well, so it's fair fight. Ultimately, it's a tournament, and there is no soft play in a tournament in any kind of sport. That's how brutal the competition is, and that's normal. You can call it "unprofessional" if the player throw a punch or the paddle to the opponent
Duong goes for those shots as part of his game, Bens shot was completely uncharacteristic and quite frankly a bad shot. Ben seems like he may have a inflated ego but I don’t know the man , just basing off his body language through the many tournaments I watched

Quang is so disrespectful to play with a different paddle when he has a contract with Selkirk and gets so well taken care of. I’ve worked with Selkirk in the past and have had a contract with them and they take incredibly good care of their players.
Man. Please. He is not paid to be nice. I’m sorry, they could be the best company to work for but it’s probably why you’re better being a TH-camr than competing in tournaments.

@@russbilderback I know it doesn’t make sense to you. It doesn’t make sense to that TH-camr either but it’s ok. I’m talking to younger players. If I had to guess, you are in your 50s and you think you can compete at any level therefore you are too blinded to understand. I hope this helps!
@@tomnguyen6793 another answer from you that makes no sense and has nothing to do with what I said. Try to follow along.
Him not using the Selkirk paddle has nothing to do with anyone's age. Why are they making such a big deal about Ben hitting an out ball hard?
Congratulations Johns bros
im sure duong consulted wright before he switched paddles .. there could be a clause in the contract which says he is free to use other paddles if the one issued to him is a crap .. lol !!
looks like it was Ben that started the body bag shots!
Anyone who thinks what Ben did is dirty better never watch a baseball game. They throw hardballs at 100 mph at batters' heads at times to send messages. QD hits everything as hard as he can. Ben just showed him that he can hit a lot harder. He didn't bag him. He let him know that blasting stuff at people might have consequences. And all of these players should wear eye protection. Also remember, Matt Wright hit Jesse Irvine in the face with a ball. He was chirping with Julian Arnold and did not apologize. It wasn't that hard but he didn't apologize or feel bad about it. Ben doesn't chirp or attack players like that. He wanted to send a specific player a message and he did it without hitting him.
most people get hit high in the body or head at sometime..this is why eveyone should wear eye protection..as far as Johns warning shot-thats all it was..the shot appeared to be well over his head..and with Bens control im sure he could have tagged him if he wanted...the shot is no different than a pitcher brushing back or hitting a batter who crowds the plate..potentionally dangerous yes but i dont think Ben johns was trying to hit him..just sending a msg..
ben just sent duong a warning shot .. 😢
I don’t think I seen any “body shots” taken from quong. He had strong clean drives. Not many were really ever more than a few inches above the tape

I agree he’s good but there’s clearly a gap between him and the other 3 who were on the court.
What game are you watching? Matt Wright was left out of most of the game and there’s a reason for that. If he’s not good enough, they would’ve just targeted him the whole time but they tried to avoid him.
I lost all respect for Ben Johns after that shot he hit at Duong because of his anger that Duong was using the proton paddle.
Some comments here criticizing and condemning Ben for that attempted body shot at QD. You guys act like you know exactly what Ben was thinking, as if he wanted to hit Q in the face. Come off it, man. It was an attempted body shot. He just over hit it and it sailed high. Calm down.
Don’t take other people’s word for it. Take it from Ben himself, he literally says that was his intention @28:28. He did not “over hit it and it sailed high”. That ball was directly going towards QD’s face and he had to duck. That was a dirty shot. Be real.
@@nubnub8826, again, you're another one I have to correct. HE DID NOT SAY HE TRIED TO HIT Q IN THE FACE. HE JUST SAID IT WAS A WARNING SHOT. Man, why do you people force me into capitalizing my comments/replies. Exercise some critical thinking skills, man. Jeez.
@@ray1johnson1 His intention was to aim for his head, that is a fact. What he says prove this because he goes on about how the shot was very intentional-- meaning the placement and force behind this shot was no accident. He only labels it as a
