    You missed some important parts, the Sinn is hand assembled and they calibrate with the movement in the case. It’s not Cosc but Cosc is just a marketing tool for Swiss watch makers.
    Servicing at Sinn is far cheaper than the Breitling and you get any replaced parts back unlike Breitling. They also over refurbishing which is really reasonable.
    Sinn is a enthusiasts watch brand

    I think this is a really great value. You get a lot for the money. The story of how Sinn (and also Ollech and Wajs) bought the rights and some of the cases and tooling for the watches when the original Breitling company got into difficulties in the 1970s is pretty interesting. I have an Ollech and Wajs "Navitimer" that looks a lot like an old Navitimer. It's one of my favorite watches. I'd seriously consider this new and improved Sinn model.

    I don’t consider the Sinn a copy at all because it literally has the rights to it. This is a Sinn Navitimer. Over the years, both the Breitling and Sinn Navitimers have evolved independently to take on the core attributes of each brand. Sinn is more rugged and-do-it-all, while Breitling is dressier and more fragile, strictly a luxury interpretation. Yet, the aesthetics are still unmistakably similar. Personally, I love the story of the Navitimer, and Sinn is an offshoot of (and runs parallel to) that story. Any history lesson on the Navi should always include Sinn as they were a key player in helping Breitling survive the quartz crisis. Sinn has certainly earned its place in Navitimer lore.

      I suppose Breitlimg didn't outright sell the design patent for the Navitimer but they merely licensed it to Sinn. After all Breitling started making the Navitimer again.

    Hi Peter, nice review. Lately I've been paying some attention to Sinn and maybe getting one sooner rather than later. Since you mentioned Fabio, I also wanna give him a shout out, truly an amazing guy. I just bought a watch from his company, @timeonly. And you are correct, he does ship world wide, as in my case. I'm in Canada.
    The watch I bought was Muhle-Glashutte S.A.R. Rescue-Time Edition 1994 (black & blue special edition). It's still on the way but I'm sure I'll be happy with the purchase. Biased here Peter, or perhaps sponsored?
    The Breitling is leagues above the Sinn in finishing, wearability and movement quality.
    Comparing the best in class B01 to an off the shelf LJP, well there is no comparison.
    The Breitling is an icon, it is more than just a difference in logo.

      @PeterKotsa  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have to beg to differ regarding the finishing on this new updated 903...it is as good as any current Navi I have handled. Also the bezel feels better as does the crown (mind you this has a screw down crown).
      Everything just feels tighter and slightly better tolerances (thats my experience) 😊
      As for the movement, agreed, the Breitling wins in this department, but that comes at a premium unfortunately

      My biggest “issue” witty the Navitimer is the fact that you can basically wash you hands while wearing it. Can’t get in a pool. The new St II has 200 meters resistance. If I lay $10,000 for a watch, I should be able to get in a pool with it. I live in Texas so it’ll be a while before I can try on the Sinn, but prrrrretty sure I’m going that route. It’s the same watch other than the insignia.

    Man, you have so many things wrong in your comparison to a Navitimer... The Sinn is a fine watch but the Navitimer is so much more than you've articulated. It's a shame potential buyers will watch this and be utterly misinformed. Again, the Sinn is a fine watch. But a Navitimer it isn't and really can't and should not be compared.

  • @AnthonyMartinez
    @AnthonyMartinez 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I love the idea of the navitimer, but I just can’t see myself (even as a pilot) ever using the E6B in the form factor of a watch bezel. Using a slide rule itself is easy but you need to be able to clearly read the scales to line them up and that is hard enough to do on a full sized flight computer. Despite a flight computer living in my flight bag within easy reach I have yet to actually use it in the air. All of that said, I can’t stop coming back to the Navitimer as something I “need” in my collection. Right next to a Hanhart 417 RS Flyback, and a Sinn 103 column wheel Ti DIAPAL… and a winning lottery ticket to cover them all!

Now I’m hunting for a 1959 809 re-edition and stumble on this video. Bugger…I can get the Breitling used for $6800 at the moment but the Sinn 903 is ticking so many more boxes it’s making me doubt pulling the trigger. I’m a cargo pilot and wasn’t really planning on wearing the 809 to work. Wouldn’t trust it outside on the cargo ramp in the rain. Cockpits are scratch central so the 809 wouldn’t be a very practical everyday watch on the job. The 903 with it’s 20 bar rating and sapphire glass looks to be perfect as a daily.

      A nice looking alternative to a Navitimer, and I can see why some people would choose it, but I’m happy with my two Navitimers. The Sinn’s design is just not so refined, it simply looks a bit cheap to my eyes when I look into the details of the layout. I find the crown particularly ugly.
      Your comment about the B01 looking like it’s based on the 7750 is very wide of the mark - they have nothing in common.
      I am very impressed by the water resistance, and I’d love to know how they achieved.
      Overall an interesting video about a really nice watch, but the Ferrari/Toyota comparison is laughable and just makes you look silly.

    It’s very simple: If you like but cannot afford a Breitling Navitimer, then don’t buy it, but look at more affordable alternatives, like this Sinn. But don’t say it is better, as price is nothing. It is about value. Price is what you pay, value is what you get. And Breitling Navitimers are value for money. Whether you can afford or are willing to pay it or not. Sinn is not better or worse, it is just a different watch. More affordable.

    I think the only way this watch could be improved is if the date window were decorated in some way, like with the stepped cutout on the previous version, instead of looking like an afterthought on this one. The way you can see the dial deform around the date window due to being stamped looks a little cheap to me as well, as opposed to actually cutting the rectangle out.

    I had the previous 903 from Sinn and a Navitimer years after. Sold both and I only regret the Sinn sometimes. You get more shine with polished hands on the Navitimer and that's all. This change from Sinn wasn't necessary in my opinion but it's an achievement to have 200wr, by a clever bezel mechanism and also a screw down crown. You mention swimming with it ; while it looks silly to do that, the simple fact that I don't have to remove my watch If i'm giving my kid a bath or washing something with the Sinn is enough.
    Also important to note that the logarithmic scale of the Sinn is complete while the one on the latest Navitimer has been made simpler, which detracts from its purpose. The Sinn is much closer to the old Navitimers.
    Thanks for your video and close ups. From the website it looks like the black dial is sunburst while on close ups, it isn't. Can you confirm sunburst treatment ?
    I'm really considering adding a new 903 now ... :)

    Yes, my B-I-L has a Breitling Navitimer purchased at least 20 years ago when he lived and worked in the USA. Still has it and wears it.....a beautiful watch. I seem to recall he paid something like US$8.000 with a leather strap but bought the bracelet some months later. The bracelet makes this watch pop and is definitely the right decision. Well, the watch is... small. Breitling offers 43 and 46 for those who want to at least pretend they will ever use the core functions of the watch ie calculations. Personally I'd feel silly (and unnecessarily out of pocket) wearing something that is basically unusable for its core functions just for the sake of it looking cool, if that's the purpose they may as well just print some random decorative little numbers on the dial. But each to their own.

    While it is a great value of a watch, a total of 6 minute markers at 3 and 9 positions are cut off by the sub-dials; not sure I can un-see that. Also, wished there wasn't a date window to make the dial less clutter, like in the limited edition version.
