I forgot to mention one other thing I use tallow for! I love it for conditioning wooden cutting boards and kitchen utensils. What do you like use tallow for?
I use your tallow balm recipe for my 4 year old granddaughter on her eczema - we hardly ever have to resort to the pharmaceutical creams any more! My 85 year old Dad loves it for his psoriasis on his elbows and uses it daily. I also cook with tallow, make candles and hope to learn to make soap
I was just gifted 50lbs of beef tallow. I cooked some down and am putting it in ice cube trays for easy cooking. Putting them into jars once theyre done.
I made grass fed tallow beautiful face cream with 3 different oils & 3 different essential oils. It can be used all over the body. I'm so pleased with it. I have 8 jars for sale. It's my new no1 cream. I'm thankful to you for sharing so many wonderful recipes and videos with us.
I just made my own talllow, home rendered tallow from scratch. It was quite stressful but I got about 8litres of rendered tallow. I used it for two homemade bathing soaps and added it to my Melt n pour recipe, it turned out great. I haven't tried it for cooking yet. Thanks for opening my eyes to the possibility of what one can do by trying a little harder to learn stuff... Stay safe... mariam from Nigeria.
I use it for cooking and curing my cast iron cooking utensils. I use it every day for cooking. Started using it about 2 months ago. Wish I had started sooner. I get the beef fat from the butcher and render it. We love eating the pieces left behind in the strainer.
I followed your recipe for tallow balm yesterday! I am obsessed and so glad I am getting into using tallow more! Next project is tallow soap and sugar scrub! Thanks for your videos! I just discovered your videos when I was looking for tallow recipes!
Hi Marisa. You are just rocking your channel and videos! Fyi...your darling baby is so cute. I have loved the tallow balm we've been making from our steer and your recipe. IS delicious for frying!
I have used it for cooking. I made smoked tallow, great for bbq steak. I have made pemican with it. Hudsons Bay co. Have had blocks of pemican wrapped in burlap stored in a cool dry place still good 25 years later. They even had a 50 year old one found and opened that was good for human consumption. New to your vids. Liking them a lot. New sub.
Living up in north Florida, we are right in the middle of cattle country. Our local meat store sources their beef from local ranchers. While I would prefer 100% grass fed, the beef we get from this store is grass fed, grain finished. We buy our tallow here as well. I know this is a subjective question, but how bad is it that the beef products/meet is grain finished? They say it is non-GMO grain, but how can you really be sure?
Thanks for all your videos. I just rendered a lot of tallow from leaf fat that was given to me by a local cattlemen who works extensively with the local 4H. I asked him about grass-fed vs. grain fed, and he is 100% in the grain fed camp. He's not a big commercial operation, my tallow (and the suet) is snow white. Do you have information regarding the relative health benefits of grass vs. grain fed?
As a deer hunter, I end up with tallow from every animal. Many hunters throw it out because they don't know what to do with it. I came here to get ideas. If you know someone who hunts, you can probably get free tallow in November/December.
Thanks for such a great vertical video about how to use tallow. I watched ur rendering of tallow and did it with almost 1 gallon of tallow. I have it sitting to render it one more time. Definitely would live to know how to make candles from it. Thanks again for such great content!!!
Purify it! Add water and salt and simmer it for 30 minutes, then strain. Let set until firm (refrigeration or freezing helps), then pour out the dirty liquids, scrape off any dark spots repeat until it is as pure as you prefer. I think Bumblebee has a video on this.
Great video! Just got a bunch of suet that as far as I've heard can be rendered into tallow, and this is really great for knowing what I needed to know. Thanks for uploading!
Thank you so much for this video,I want to start making tallow for cooking and very interested in making the moisturizer and soap and shampoo bars, one question I have is why is the l’y used in soap so dangerous to use and yet safe to use after it is made into soap bars
First I heard of tallow, Was for Pemmican. I made a Bit of it. now it's in Storage. I want to know what else I can use it for. So here I am. Awesome, Thanks!
I've just started using tallow thanks to your TH-cam channel. Thank you! My container of tallow says to refrigerate after opening. Do I have to refrigerate the products I make, like the whipped tallow balm? Thank you!
Thank you so much! You shouldn't need to refrigerate the balm you make. I think they say that on the packaging just to be on the safe side, especially since they're probably intending it to be for cooking. But properly rendered tallow is very shelf stable :)
I was just going to ask you about tallow and hair. I wonder if incorporating it in a scalp treatment would be beneficial. I have scalp psoriasis maybe a tar and tallow shampoo bar 🤔 I wonder if I can buy a smaller amount of tar instead of the bigger jar that I see floating around. Checking out your shampoo bar and making it. As soon as I feel better. 🤒Nasty cold. I found you through tallow. Thank you!
would love to use the tallow balm as a body moisturizer. I just turned 71, and to to aqua fit and aqua zumba 4-6x a week. The chlorinated pool is wreaking havoc with my skin. Found your recipe for tallow balm, can I whip it up in a Vitamix rather than the stand mixer? Thank you for all this info on this wonderful, new to me, natural product!
Hi, I love your channel! I’ve just ordered some beef tallow and was wondering if it would be good for healing the aftermath of shingles? I had an bad reaction to an natural conditioner and my scalp is still not 100% healed as yet. I thought a good healthy fat might be beneficial. xx
Thank you! Sorry to hear about the shingles and reaction :( I don't have personal experience with either, but tallow is so pure, natural, gentle, and beneficial, I would definitely give it a try.
Tallow is very shelf stable at room temperature. As long as there is no water in tallow and it doesn't get contaminated, the shelf life is around 6 months to a year or longer. If you want to store it longer yet, or just want to be on the safe side, I recommend keeping it in the fridge or freezer. It will last months in the fridge and forever in the freezer. The same for tallow balm.
Dear lady. I am a remedial massage therapist and seeing how you stand concerns me. How is your lower back? You stand so crooked. I wonder if you are avoiding pain, or is it just a habit? Please consider standing with your weight distributed evenly across both feet

Hey Marissa. Thanks for your vids! Do you know of any preservatives that can be added to beef tallow creams so they last longer?
Tallow has vitamin E it shouldn't go off.

You can go too far using tallow. Contributor uses logical fallacies to justify using tallow.
