    TIP.
    That little button on the left side is also handy.
    It turns on the back light on the LCD display.
    And also can lock all the buttons from this remote.
    To lock and unlock the buttons press and hold the left button.
    To switch on the LCD display light Just pres the left button once. The LCD light automatisch switch off after 10 seconds

    What a lifesaver. I have the Neewar version of the remote and while their gear is great for the price, the manuals are almost certainly translated from Chinese using Google translate. As a result, they are absolutely useless. Thanks for you efforts. I was ready to throw the remote at the wall, but it's actually pretty useful now I have managed to pair the camera with the remote.

    Had a bit of a problem at first, my camera was set to burst shooting.
    When I pressed, multiple shots were exposed each time.
    But when I chose singleshot, it worked perfectly.

    For those that need even more handholding (me) - make sure you enable remote control on the camera first. This was under the 3rd page under the toolbox on my Sony. My grip also had to be unlocked before the remote would work. Great video and I hope this helps too!

    Holy cow! Thank you for this video tutorial. I would never have been able to extract from the printed instructions everything that you managed explain in under 10 minutes. Neewer/Meike should compensate you. This video didn't appear in Google Searches either. I'd already spent 20+ minutes searching Google and scrolling through Neewer's support and product pages for some explanation in American English, to no avail. If it hadn't been for this video, I would've been ready to give up on this product. It's annoying that the batteries must be removed to turn it off, and keep the batteries from draining. I had it on for less than an hour it the battery indicator says it's half-dead already. The only thing you didn't explain is that small port/jack on the side of the remote, and how that works. I'm going to assume, based on my own needs, that I don't actually care. Thanks a million!

    • @DallinTech
      @DallinTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you found the video helpful (and that you found the video).
      The port on the side of the remote allows you to use the remote in a wired manner instead of wirelessly. Instead of connecting the battery pack to your camera with the included micro-usb to 2.5mm cable, you can connect your remote straight to the camera. I prefer using my remote wirelessly, so I've never really done that, but that's what the port is for.

    The vertical shutter used to work with the cable then it stopped and I figured the cable broke so i stopped using it for the shutter. Just for the grip and battery life. I watched this video and read the comments. Sometimes just messing with the batteries helps fixing it. Now the shutter button works but I can't pair it with the remote. I used some old batteries maybe that's why it doesn't work. Tomorrow i will try with some fresh ones. I really want to do some remote photography.

    This is great. I didn't even realize I just bought an intervalometer. BUT, I do have a question that i can't find the answer to on the web or in the manual. How do you turn the remote off? It turns right on when I plug the batteries into it, and then it's just on until I take the batteries out. Why would they even put a clock on this thing, seeing as how you have to reset it every time you want to use it.

    I even got the time and date figured out on the built-in one on the grip for my Canon 5D2. Don't ask me to repeat how, though! It took a bit of trial and error and holding down some button until the date started flashing. Interesting layout, it is YY-MM-DD. I'm still considering getting a different - possibly even wired - remote. They seem more capable and easier to set.

    • @DallinTech

    A tip for Sony users.If you want to shoot long exposures using this remote ,make sure you set Drive Mode to Single Shooting.
    If you have the Self Timer switched on it will stop the long exposure setting in the remote from working and will only take a short exposure,1/10th second or faster.

    Thanks so much for your video. I have a nikon D750 and even though I've been able to pair the remote, there seems to be a problem with the performance. On pairing, I didn't get a green light to start with and never got any lather lights at all until the camera just started taking photos. 'Success'. I now have the problem of when I half press the release button, even though I get a green light on the remote, the camera doesn't focus. But if I fully press, the camera takes a blurry photo. Im wondering if you'd have any suggestions. Maybe a setting I haven't thought of?
    Thanks

    • @DallinTech
      @DallinTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know Nikon menus at all, so I don't think I can be of much help. My best suggestion is to review all the autofocus settings in the camera and make sure nothing funky is set. It might also be worth repairing the remote with the battery and maybe trying a different channel.

    Neat with the intervelometer-- But what I really need it to do is move the focus point when I'm doing video- So when using narrow DOF - and I want to change the focus point - the Image Edge mobile app doesn't have the feature to touch the screen to move the focus point - I was hoping that the direction pad on this remote would control the grips joystick, and enable the focus point to move around without banging the camera by touching the screen or moving the stick while recording. Mind you I picked up the Neewer battery grip.. Does this Meike Version enable you to control the joystick with the direction pad?

    • @DallinTech
      @DallinTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The controls on the battery grip are the same as those on the camera body. With the grip attached to the camera, I think you’d see similar shake in your shot if you were to change the focus using the grip’s joystick as you would using the camera’s joystick.
