How effective are Arnold Presses? I use to do them but quit shoulder presses because of shoulder pains. I just stick to lateral raises now.

The Arnold press eccentric always makes my shoulder joint pop or grind or something uncomfortable, so I switched to Scott presses and those feel way better.

@@iluvmym4 I think it was because it did them standing up. Sitting they are much less uncomfortable, plus the Scott presses training my rear delts to hold that overhead position have probably helped. Not sure which I like more, I've been mixing sets of both lately when I do either.

I see lots of people doing the wrong version.
I know I'm going to get shit over this, but since i switched to the 'wrong one' I've had less shoulder issues. That twisting tears your shoulder up. If it works for you, go for it, but if your shoulder starts having problems, do the 'wrong one'. There was a video that showed how the 'right one' was destroying people's shoulders. Just my thoughts. Everyone is different and the journey is about finding what works for you
Is there still pain with lighter weight? It might be flexibility.

These guys have it all wrong.
In a STANDING position With a dumbbell in each hand palms faced towards you in one smooth motion press the dumbbells over head- not quite to the point of locking out- and at the same time rotate your hands, thumbs turning inward so that the palms face forward while driving the dumbbell overhead.
