I am always surprised as to why most of the videos on youtube only cover mitral and aortic valve. I understand since the left is the high pressure area and hence the valves there are more susceptible to issues - i would still apprecaite if there was more information on pulmonary and tricuspid valves and options for repair and replacement.

Thank you. Very good explanation. I would love to hear about the risk/benefit and of open heart vs mitral valve clip.

MITRAL VALVE: the leaflets are significantly thickened with mildly restricted excursion. the calculated valve area is 3.6cm2. Peak velocity across the valve is 1.28m/s with a max and mean gradient of 7/2mmHG. Can this valve be repaired? I nearly died of pulmonary edema last year?

Not a Dr but I do have leaky valves (three to be exact) but my understanding is you can live forever with leaky valves. Depending on your leak if it's is a mild mitral leak chances are it's is actually considered normal. As we get older our chest flattens which distorts our heart in a mild way if a Dr were to do an echo on 100 people whom have never had heart issues 70 of them would have a mild leak. Now if you have a leak with other findings like a rip in the valve, cords are not correct, and ventrical is not perfecto or close to it (if you have one of these three things along with the leak) the Dr will follow your leak and make sure it doesn't get worse but if it's mild and you most likely do not have symptoms then it's most likely normal 😐 if you develop symptoms like one day you can run a mile and then the next week you can only fun 1/2 a mile and are over exhausted at the 1/2 mile mark that's a dramatic change and you should contact ur cardiologist. I'm just an average person w three mild leaks but I suck in medical knowledge like a god 👌🏻 so that's my understanding
