Mantua is a city surrounded by 3 artificial lakes and located in Lombardy. It is famous for its Renaissance architecture of the buildings erected by the Gonzagas, such as the Palazzo Ducale. This grandiose building houses the Camera degli Sposi, embellished with frescoes by Andrea Mantegna. The Gonzagas also built Palazzo Te, known for the Sala dei Giganti, in which every surface is covered with paintings of mythological scenes.
