    Happy Sunday Friends!
How’s your year going so far?
My year has been super busy recently. EveryPlate has helped me so much. Their meals are delicious and I’ve been able to save time grocery shopping and meal planning by ordering a box every once in a while. If you want to try EveryPlate, follow this link for a free box: www.everyplate.com/plans?c=FIH-LR0JYQ4AXQ83&plans_ab=true&

Pasta is dried and good for a lot longer then the package says. I take the small stale bits and blend them up to coat chicken. I took the meal box kit rice into a mason jar so we could measure and use the amount we needed. We cleaned up a bunch in the last few months to do an inventory to use up too. I need to work on using up raspberries from the freezer. Great job being able to do this all while pregnant because I had huge food aversions when I was pregnant.

Love the idea to coat chicken with the small stale bits 😊

Pasta can be kept, as long as there are no bugs it keeps for a really long time

Great video. Awesome job organizing. Suggestion, do some research about best buy dates. Shelf stable stuff is good much longer than the suggested date. Whatever you are comfortable with. Your home, your rules. Might help you to feel better about waste. If sniff test & looks good, you are golden.

When I make pasta, I only add sauce to the pasta that I will eat right away. Then freeze the rest in serving sized portions. When I want more,, I put the frozen pasta in a sieve, run it under hot water and set the sieve in a bowl of hot tap water while I heat the sauce. By the time my sauce is hot, my pasta is ready. This even works for gf pasta. Which I now eat. I learned this over 30 years ago while working in a restaurant.

I never thought about freezing pasta before! I do freeze the leftover sauce though and it’s a great way to save food and money 😊

I definitely want to! It probably won’t be a full no spend because we don’t have a ton of fresh ingredients, but we’ll be prioritizing things that are in the freezer for sure.

Please donate the items that are past the best by date to a food pantry. Don't toss.
Most of us who visit food pantries live on food that is past the best by date.
Especially if it is canned or dried goods.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m not sure if the local food pantries here will take the food if they are past date, so I’ll definitely have to confirm that 😊
